Chapter 25
David's hands go from my cheeks to my nape, bending my head back and improving the angle tenfold.
My skin is on fire, and every time David's fingertips skim my neck, thrills race down my spine.
My hands jerk to his silky smooth hair, then to his stubble-covered cheekbones, wide shoulders, and slim waist. I just feel everything. I panic, scared that once we get up for air, things will return to normal. I don't want that. So I deepen the kiss, biting his lower lip and almost drawing blood.
David growls in my face. He sighs but resumes kissing me.
David lowers his mouth to my chin. To my ear lobe, neck, and shoulder. I groan as his soft lips contact my skin.
"You'll be marked there." David says softly on my warm flesh.
I lean back, asking him to kiss me again. He does, and it feels better.
"How did that sound?" My body absolutely buzzes with pleasure as I babble.
David returns to my mouth and kisses me gently. My hand reaches his shoulder.
David bites my lower lip as I did to him. I scream and press my claws into his shirt.
When David removes his lips from mine, I'm dazed. A blood drop forms on his bottom lip. I did. I smile. David takes his hands off my neck but we remain tight.
"I wish I could kiss you like that, Susan. Change is coming. I can already feel our link deepening, which I'm not sure is good or terrible." David rants.
I sneer at him, ignoring how my whole body still tingles from the kiss. Then you pledge to God you won't ignore me -"
"Never," David growls, beckoning me closer to hear his reply. "I'll never be satiated after tasting you."
I broaden. I like the sound of that. David's eyes briefly glazed over."I'm needed."
David leans up close to my neck and sniffs my skin. I shudder, a smile spreading over my face.
"No idea when I'll return, but I'll be here for sleep." David slaps my neck.
I nod and say alright.
I went downstairs to the dining room.
The magnificent dining area is full of conversing pack members. Jessica carries dishes from the kitchen to the dining room multiple times. The dining room now features two tables.
My gaze searches for David, but it finds none. Hunter and Neme were already sitting, so I joined them.
I turn around and see a woman with a pale complexion and black hair and a small child with pale skin and blonde hair sitting nearby. The youngster glances at the platter of rolls as though they'll vanish. When he reaches for one, his mother smacks his palm.
"Mama! Why must we wait every time?"
The mother sighs. "We must wait for the Alpha, sweetheart. ?"
My plate is empty. The talk stops, and I look up. David enters the dining room.
David surprises me by bending down to peck my cheek. The act warms my heart. Guests in the dining room gasp in amazement at David kissing me, and I don't blame them.
David arranges his silverware in his huge chair. "Eat." He screams.
David hands me the mashed potatoes, and I sigh. I spoon some mashed deliciousness onto my plate and pass the dish to the person next to me, only to hesitate when I notice Daisy. "Hi, Susan. full moon festival!" Daisy smiles and takes the dish from me.
I grin. Hunter, like the youngster I was seeing moments before, reaches for the platter of rolls. The lad pouts, his cheeks flushed, but he lets his Beta take two rolls. Hunter hands the bowl over.
I grab a roll from the platter and tell Daisy to give it to the poor boy two chairs down when I'm fully seated. Daisy does, and the child looks at me when he holds the warm roll. I grin and invite him to consume the dough. He grins back and rolls, as I expected.
Putting veggies on my plate, a foot brushes into my ankle, then tucks between my heeled feet. I raise an eyebrow at David. Is it time for footie?
"You treated the youngster well." David squints.
I grin. "It was nothing," I respond, dumping a little bit onto my plate.
Dinner was delicious. But when it came time for dessert, and my eyes met David's pumpkin pie, my heart sank. A wave of nostalgia overtook me, and I wanted I could've been at the little kitchen table with my parents and Neme, even if it meant missing David and his family.
I didn't eat it and instead gave it to Daisy. She inquired whether I was okay, knowing how much I like pumpkin pie around the holidays, much like my mother.
When David heard this, he was eating pie. His blue eyes glowed orange as he frowned at me. I told them I was full, trying to grin. But it wasn't it.
Someone knocks on my door as I remove my white shirt. David then calls my name, asking me to allow him in. I open the door for him. "What happened?"
"I miss my mum and dad," I admit.
David stood in front of me, frowning. I wait for his words, and what he says shakes me to my core.
