Chapter 24
I awakened alone like I had done before. I got a buttery egg and a container of frozen strawberries sent to my room. After breakfast, I sprayed my hair and washed my body. Neme was sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Good morning, sista! Your mate was unhappy that you had skipped breakfast that morning."
Despite my want to sneer, I refrain. He could've brought his magnificent ass up to my room and had breakfast with me, rather than sulking in front of his pack.
Instead of sighing, I shrug my shoulders. Neme grins and asks if I'm ready, since I'm still holding my towel. Neme takes a look at my clothing, smirking at some of the tops and skirts.
"I know what I'm doing when it comes to dressing."
Neme cracks a grin. "However, it's not enjoyable."
"How about you and Hunter?" I'd want to know more.
Neme gives me a wicked grin from the corner of her eye as she looks at me. "All I have to say is that it's great."
I'm certain she's referring to sex. Niggling me with her shoulder, Neme's bright blue eyes gleamed back at me.
"So, David and you?" She is perplexed.
I bite my lower lip. There's nothing new here.
Is it true that I'm that desperate for David? David used to be someone I despised. And then, an idiot," I crack a smile. "One day he'll come pleading for your forgiveness,"
"We have a fight once a week."
Neme gives me a sneer and taps the back of my shoulder.
A tap on my bedroom door sends me running, my brows pinched, as I try to open the door.
Jessica walks into my room with a shy look on her face and her hair in a loose bun.
"Darling, I hope you have a good day, Daisy is on her way. Do you want to know my daughter."
I take a deep breath, then walked out with Jessica.
I am going to face his sister.
Jessica's eyes fixed on the surrounding woods. My toes curl as I stand on the chilly porch. Unexpectedly, an SUV appears out of the woods and pulls up in front of the garage.
David was the first person to step out of the black SUV. Hunter unlocks the driver's door. Daisy is running from the SUV, and I can't see her at the moment.
Jessica sprints.. After a brief exchange of pleasantries with me, she kisses her mother on the cheek and stomps up the porch steps towards us.
"I'm assuming you're Susan," Daisy says.
"You are Neme."

I nod. Daisy offers me a bright smile and a firm hug. A scent strikes me, yet it's sweet like Daisy. Daisy smiles and grabs my hands.
"I'm happy David met his mate! I never expected him to because he's often so grouchy, but he told me you're good for him, even though you're a human."
I was speechless for a moment, what does she mean even if I'm a human.
"Hunter kept mentioning you." daisy adds, seeing my embarrassment, deliberately turning the point.
Jessica smiles and peers behind Daisy. They're all walking up the front stairs together. Hunter approaches Neme, places his arm around her waist, and kisses her temple. David stands behind his mother, leaving me alone in the very back. I felt lonely at the moment, I had a mother and a a father, but I can never go back to them.
And where I'm staying is David's family, they are all happy as a family, no one cares about me.
Even my mate, ignores me.
Jessica glances at Daisy, coughing. "Need some cake condiments? The day's work is done."
I bite my lip and grin tensely.
"I'm heading upstairs." I turn away without waiting for anybody to speak.
David's thumping feet let me know he's following me into the living room. Try as I may, I cannot slam the bedroom door in his face.
"Wait, what are you angry with again?" He snarls.
I cross my arms across my chest. "Can't you tell it yourself, David?" I yell.
David opens and closes the door. He glares at me, but I don't budge. "You never cared about me!" I yelled, letting out all my rage and worry. "Ho can I not care about you." he says.
"You're a family, all happy together, I'm the only one."
"We slept, that means I care about you."
I sigh, close my eyes, and grunt in frustration. "My God." Then I grin, amazed. I giggle, then chuckle, then burst out laughing. I turn to David.
My eyes are burning. I've always hated sobbing. I turn away from David as he approaches.
I turn my head to gaze at him as he touches my chin. I see myself in his blue eyes. His thumb wipes a silly tear off his cheekbone.
"Can we stop quarreling, Susan?" David grumbles, but not angrily.
My heart skips a beat at the possibilities. David waits patiently, still holding my face in his strong, huge hands.
A searing kiss stops my rambling. I open my lips wide, allowing David's warm tongue to enter, and my eyelids close.
I sigh in happiness. My nerves, hearing, and movements are all heightened.
