Chapter 15
"Unless, of course, you're Jessica. You are aware of other's feelings-"
"The packs house is full of mysteries that are never revealed to anybody who enters via the front entrance. In order to find out, you must inquire, demand?"
I'm taken aback. What was the catalyst behind this? What makes her think she knows? Immediately, droplets of water trickle off my fingertips and onto the kitchen tile. Jessica takes a handshake and a grin from me. She hands the cup to me, and I wash it in complete silence.
I'm completely preoccupied with this darn cup. The sensation is similar to having a large rock trapped in my throat. My vision is impaired by moisture and a glass cup.
As I sob uncontrollably, the cup shatters onto the stainless steel sink below. As droplets stream down my cheeks, I grip the edge of the sink with my hands. My shoulders are caressed by soft hands.
When I turn around, I'm greeted by motherly arms. When Jessica embraces me, I burst into tears even more. No idea why I'm crying, but I'm crying anyway.
I'm lost and stranded in the realm of wolves. I've been referred to be a female role model.
But how am I supposed to go about doing it? I've been told that I'm destined to be with the love of my life. But how can that be true if there isn't any love in our relationship? As a result, when Jessica wraps her arms around me, I sob.
I sob because it's the only thing that can be done at this point.
Jessica smiled as she gently wiped away my tears and told me that everything would be OK. After that, I went into my room and threw all of the filthy clothes in the laundry basket.
I changed my male clothes closet, which left me perplexed, and I'll have to check with someone later today about what I should have done.
Even though I was enticed to go down into the underground region, a part of me felt I'd be missing out on something important. As a result, I continued working on my closet.
After that, I made the decision to put on my boots, cover myself in a coat and scarf, and confront the freezing temperatures outside.
After that, I took another path, one that did not go near the training grounds or dwellings.
Forests and wild creatures surround us, and I am trekking through heavy snow to get to where I need to go. It's freezing outside, but there's no breeze to keep things cool. I'm not sure how long I'll be walking gently; maybe a mile or so. I can see the sky becoming brilliant shades of orange and pink as I peer through the trees.
"It's past time to go back," I murmur under my breath.
With my hands still in my pockets, I spin around in the snow.
I panic as I discover a man staring at me from below with dark eyes.
A peculiar feeling creeps up my spine like a snake. As I look at him, my stomach begins to sink. I'm aware that it's a notion of danger-avoidance.
"Have you been keeping up with me?" My voice, which appears to be breaking the silence, maybe heard from a long distance.
As I moved, I didn't notice any crunching of snow behind me.
I question as to how he came to be here. He seems to be a few years older than me and my own age. He is much taller.

Looking at him, I see a jagged scar that runs from his forehead down his cheek. I ask what it is.
"Don't take your eyes off me." He is adamant.
"It's rather good."
Despite my desire to run, I loathe him from the beginning. As I return his gaze, my grey eyes squint in concentration.
Surprisingly, his massive hand takes a firm hold of mine.
In fact, he doesn't even bother to display any emotion; he only tightens his hold more.
Before resting his head on the bed, his muscular shoulders droop forward. This fills my heart with a strange and unfamiliar sensation. David is the one making my heart beat faster.
"I was afraid I'd lost track of you. I'm in desperate need of you."
He does not budge or release his grip on my hand. For a long time, my other hand runs through his messy black hair, a long time.
I make a scoffing face. Yes, I am aware of what transpired. Was it possible for me to forget about the person who followed me around and asked embarrassing questions? Being aware of people hunting for me and calling my name was a welcome relief. When I was a kid, I remember being tossed into the snow while suffocating, freezing, and wailing inside.
I fall asleep while caressing my hair, remembering his statement that he will never be able to forget about me.
"I'm not going to force you to reveal what happened, Susan," I said. "Force?" His kissy lips sneer as he speaks.

He knows things about me that I don't know about him. He almost smiles, his blue eyes examining me intently.
Alphas have the authority to order any pack member to comply if necessary.
I smirk as I cross my arms in front of him. "I'm not a wolf," I say. "I told you," I said.
"Not at this time. However, you are Luna, and our relationship gets stronger."
I squint a little. "Oh? How did you get to that conclusion?"
David recognizes me right away. My heart is racing a little faster. He lets out a sigh.
"Your heart beats faster when I'm around. My wolf is becoming restless."
My cheeks are becoming hot.
"Have you ever had the sensation that expressing anything out loud would completely change everything?" I'd want to know more.
David jerks his head back, as though in astonishment. He doesn't say anything. I heave a sigh of relief. I should have known better than to ask. Of course, he hasn't done so.
The way David squeezes my hand causes the blood flow in my hand to stop.
"Put your trust in your intuition. You can't go wrong with this one. Ever. My mother told me this on countless occasions. Putting her trust in her instincts saved her, her partner, and her tribe all alive and well."
