Alpha's Girl

Chapter Arguing

Lexi sleeps peacefully in my arms. Her long blonde hair blankets her back and shoulder while her blue eyes stay tightly shut. I stroke her arm, loving the sparks it gives me. Suddenly she whimpers in her sleep and tightens the ball she’s in like a scared pup. Her whimpers continue for about five minutes before she rolls into my chest and buries her face in my shoulder. She instantly calms while I find myself unable to sleep with her this close. Her touch drives my wolf crazy and on several occasions I’ve struggled to hold him back. Finally I calm down and manage to fall asleep.

In the morning I find that Lexi hasn’t moved an inch. With her still sound asleep I take the time to shower and make breakfast. New shifters need a lot of sleep so I’m not bothered that she’s not up. Today is a big day because I get to introduce her to the pack as their future Luna. I know it’s really soon but everyone has been antsy since they felt the connection to her and I don’t need a bunch of crazy wolves up my ass right now. I can hear Lexi moving around upstairs and soon her soft footsteps travel down the stairs. When I turn around she’s right behind me. “Good morning sunshine.” I whisper, pulling her to me. She pushes me away.

“Why did you leave this morning?” She pouts. I laugh at her cute expression.

“I wanted to surprise you with breakfast.” I sau holding up her plate full of pancakes. She eyes the plate then takes it and grabs a seat.

“You know I can’t finish all of these right?”

“You’d be surprised by how much a wolf can eat.” I tell her. She rolls her eyes and starts eating.

Five minutes later her plate is empty. “Told you.” I laugh.

“I’m going to need a serious run after that.” She groans. “Wanna come?”

“Not today. We’re going to meet the pack.” I tell her. All light in her eyes dims and she completely deflates.

“Why?” She asks warily.

“It’s part of becoming Luna. As Luna you’ll have your own connection with each pack member. The sooner you meet them and the sooner we mate the sooner you’ll become Luna.” As soon as it’s out of my mouth I regret it. Lexi becomes very shy looking and almost skittish.

“Roman I-I’m…I’m still a virgin.” She whispers. I smile.

“I know I could smell it but I promise I will not rush you in any way. I just want you to know the facts before you have to hear it from someone else.” She swallows loudly.

“I’m going to go get dressed.”

“But you already are?” I comment, confused, looking down at her. Big mistake. My eyes linger on her hips and I can imagine myself holding them while I-. Lexi clears her throat with a small laugh.

“Down boy. Don’t get too excited.” I laugh nervously.

“So why are you changing?” I ask to change the subject.

“I want to look somewhat presentable for our pack.” She says and I can’t help but love when she says our pack. With that she scurries away. A few moments later she comes back with a tight skirt on, a tank top, and a leather jacket to top it off. Her shoes are knee high black boots.

“No!”

“What?” She asks.

“You’re not wearing that. Go change.” I tell her.

“Why?”

“Because you’re mine to look at. Not anyone else’s.” I growl. Lexi’s eyes blaze as she stocks up to me so we’re nose to nose.

“I am allowed to wear whatever the hell I want to. Don’t think because you’re an alpha you get to dominate me because i’m an alpha too.” She growls. “I’m wearing this outfit and that final.”

She wears the outfit. As the pack gather outside in the training field they all gawk at their Luna. Lexi doesn’t seem to notice or chooses to ignore it, instead her eyes remain on my sister Annie. I nudge her to get her attention and her eyes snap to mine. “Everyone I’d like to introduce you to my mate and your future Luna, Alexis May Grace Jackson.” Everyone cheers and claps for their Luna but Lexi’s eyes remain in mine.

“I’m Jackson now?” She whispers.

“You will be.” I whisper back. Her eyes narrow but she drops it.

When we get back home Lexi is quiet. We go about our day and she still says nothing. Finally at dinner I can’t take it. “What’s wrong? Why aren’t you talking to me?” I ask. She slumps in her chair.

“I want to go home. I don’t think I can do this anymore.” She whispers.

“Do what? Be a Luna, my mate? Because I think you’re perfect.”

“That’s not what I’m talking about.” She snaps. “We don’t work, Roman!”

What do you mean?” I ask.

“You go behind my back and tell everyone that my last name is now Jackson, you tried to tell me what I can and can not wear.” She takes a deep breath. “I can’t do this anymore Roman. I don’t want this kind of relationship.”

“Oh but a relationship with Sam, a guy who cheated on you, is better?” I snap. Her face pales. “I do everything for you, to protect you and this is what I get? You yelling at me? You may have alpha blood but you will never be an alpha. You are too weak!” As soon as the words are out of my mouth a stinging pain fills my left cheek. She hit me.

“You have no right to talk to me like that! The only reason he cheated was because I refuse to have sex with him so he went and found someone who would!” She was pissed. I could see it in the way her eyes burned, almost glowing, with fury. Her body starts shaking as her wolf begs to come out and teach me a lesson on respect. “It was clearly a mistake that I came here.” She turns on her heels and tries to walk away but I grab her and pin her to the wall.

“You’re not going anywhere.” I growl, my wolf begging me to mark and claim our mate. “We are mates and whether you like it or not I do have a right to talk to you like that. I’m the only one who can talk to you like that.” I pause. “But I shouldn’t have and I’m sorry. I just don’t like it when you say we don’t work. I need you more than you think Lexi.” Tears brim her eyes and a sob rolls out of her.

“I-I’m sorry.” I hug her close while she sobs over and over again how sorry she is.

“You did nothing wrong. I shouldn’t have been an ass.” For the rest of the night we cuddle on the couch and stay there all night.
