Alpha's Fated Slave Mate

Chapter 56 Drink?

I looked helplessly towards the door, still hoping to see Adri.

The dream and what Adri had said to me came back to my mind, and pain rolled over my heart like waves, and tears flowed down the corners of my eyes.

"Hey Kasha, don't be afraid, it will be fine soon, you have to be strong." The maid, who had been by my side, gently stroked my forehead and comforted me. "Will Adri come back?" I asked, looking to her sadly.

"You have to believe in them and in yourself, take a deep breath." The maid reassured me as she told me what to do.

It wasn't until the early hours of the morning, with a loud baby cry, that I completely lost my strength and lay in bed, looking at the baby being picked up by the doctor.

"Kasha, you have given birth to a very cute boy." The maid came up to me and said with a smile.

Outside the rain seemed to have stopped and it was very quiet.

After cleaning the baby briefly, the doctor wrapped him in a small blanket and placed him in my arms.

"He looks like Adri," I said to the maid, unable to stop smiling the moment I saw him.

"He has eyes like you." The maid said to me as she came over to look at him too.

It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.

Perhaps I was too tired or too weak, I did not dream, let alone dream of Adri.

When I woke up, it was already morning. The child was still lying next to me, quietly asleep.

I didn't know how to reach Adri, perhaps he didn't know our baby was born yet.

Half a month later, Joslin came back, but Adri did not come back with her.

"Joslin, why didn't Adri come back with you?" I asked as I tried to suppress my emotions and took Joslin's hand.

"Kasha, I'm sorry.......I....." Joslin looked at me and lowered her head guiltily.

"Sorry for what? I don't need you to apologize to me, I just want to know where Adri is?" My voice choked with grief and tears once again welled up with my eyes.

"Adri ...... is dead......" Joslin replied with his head bowed in sorrow.

"No, he won't die, he said he would come back!" I let go of Joslin's hand and covered my face and cried, I was completely devastated.

"We entered Navia City only to find out that the information was wrong and that it was a trap. We managed to escape from the city and were chased by a group of rouge. In order for me to escape, Adri used herself as bait to attract the rouge and was finally seriously injured by the rouge and pushed into the river......" Joslin said, two lines of tears falling from her face.

"But the news you sent back that you were victorious, is that also false?" I questioned Joslin through my tears.

"This is what Adri asked me to do, he wanted you to be at ease, Kasha, I'm really sorry....." Joslin kept apologizing to me with his head down.

"As long as I don't see his body, I won't believe he's dead." I wiped the tears from my eyes and said firmly to Joslin.

Joslin seemed to want to say something, but in the end said nothing and walked towards her room.

Carlton walked up to me, gave me a look, and lowered his head again.

"I know what you want to say to me, but I just want to wait for Adri to come back. I always believed he was alive too, at least none of us saw him die with our own eyes, didn't we?" I said to Carlton, putting on a strong face. He nodded his head.

I turned around and walked back, but the pain in my heart was already suffocating me and my body had become so numb that even walking, my legs had become stiff.

I recalled everything that had happened in the past.

From the time Adri rejected me twice, to the time he asked me to stay and become his maid for the reason of marking me.

And everything that happened after that, each memory was like a sharp blade that pierced my body and kept cutting into my body and heart.

Even though everyone thought he was dead, I didn't want to believe it.

When I returned to my room, the child was still asleep and I asked the maid to take the child out for a walk. After the maid took the baby away, I went into the bathroom alone and lay down in the bathtub. The water temperature was set to a little hotter than usual, trying to warm myself. But my body always felt cold and I couldn't feel the slightest bit of heat. I curled up and hugged my knees with my hands and cried. The bathroom is better soundproofed, so my cries probably could not be heard outside.

I don't know how long it took, but I had no more strength to cry, so I just lay in the bathtub, with the hot water drenching my body but not giving me any heat.

It was only when the maid came knocking on the door that I turned off the tap, wrapped myself in my bathrobe and walked out.

"Kasha, I've prepared lunch for you." The maid stood at the door and said to me.

"No, I'm not hungry, thanks." I realized as I spoke that my voice had become hoarse.

The maid froze for a moment and glanced at the plate next to me, which contained exquisite food, but I simply didn't have any appetite right now.

"Kasha, you can't go on like this forever, you still have William," the maid said to me.

William is the name I gave to my child with Adri.

"I know, but I need a little time." I said to her.

"Well, if you want something, you can tell me and I can always make it for you." The maid said to me, and she was a pretty good cook.

"I want wine, any kind of wine." I said to her.

The maid looked at me, hesitated, and agreed. She was about to leave the room when Joslin came in with a bottle of wine.

"I just happened to take it, would you like a couple of drinks?" Joslin was holding a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a glass in the other. "Sure." I replied.

The maid left the room and Joslin placed the glasses on the balcony table and poured two drinks.

It was my first time drinking, and I lifted my glass and gently clinked it with Joslin.

"What did you want to ask me?" Joslin asked, looking out from his glass.

"I don't want to ask anything, what I want to ask is, have you seen Sotto?" I asked as I looked at Joslin, the taste of the wine burning like a flame down my throat and all the way to my heart.

If it were before, I would have had a very hard time with it, but now, I was fascinated by the feeling and was beginning to understand why some people liked to drink so much.

"No, perhaps he will not appear until after he enters the palace. Our people have been looking for him too, but he has left his original territory and we have not been able to find him." Joslin said, continuing to pour a glass of wine and drink it down.

"Navia's rouge, who is leading it?" I inquired again.

"It's Eri, the black wolf that attacked you at the manor last time." Joslin looked to me and answered.

"All right." I downed the glass of wine, the burning sensation growing stronger.

"Kasha, what do you want to do?" Joslin seemed to sense what I was thinking and nervously pursued the question.
