After the Divorce: Crushed on My Lawyer Ex-wife

Chapter 239 by GloryWrites

#239 “Never Say That Again.”

Alexander’s expression shifted from surprise to distress as he watched the flicker of doubt shadowing Sophia’s face. He felt a sharp pang of guilt, realizing that his actions had inadvertently led her to question his feelings.

Now, seeing the candlelit room and her carefully chosen dress, he understood the depth of her insecurities. She had orchestrated this entire evening under the mistaken belief that she needed to reignite his affection.

“Never say that again,” Alexander’s voice was firm, tinged with emotion. ” Sophia, you are the love of my life. I know it seems like I’m distant, but I promise, everything will be clear very soon.”

“Just tell me now,” Sophia pressed, her eyes searching for the truth. “If there’s no problem with us, then tell me what’s going on.”

“Please, love. Just a little patience, just trust me a bit longer,” he pleaded, his voice soft.

Taking her hands in his, Alexander knelt beside her chair, an earnest plea in his eyes. But Sophia looked away, her heart heavy with mixed emotions.

“Sophia, look at me,” he urged, his voice thick with emotion.

The bitterness of keeping secrets was palpable between them, and Sophia’s patience had worn thin.

“You asked for openness, for no secrets, “she countered sharply. “I’ve done that. Now I need the same from you, Alexander.”

He remained silent, the weight of the moment pressing down on him, while Sophia sighed heavily and started to rise from her seat.

“Wait, Sophia,” Alexander quickly interjected. “Give me just twenty-four hours. That’s all I ask. Then everything will make sense.”

“What does that even mean?” Sophia’s voice was laced with confusion and a hint of fear. “Why do you need twenty- four hours? What’s happening? Are you in some kind of trouble?”

“Nothing like that, love,” he laughed lightly, trying to ease the tension. “I’m not in any trouble, we’re safe, and I’m definitely not cheating on you. Just wait.”

“If it’s about Evelyn’s bank deal, I already know. Kyle told me,” Sophia revealed.

“It’s not that,” Alexander reassured her quickly. His smile was wry, aware now that some of the surprise had been compromised but still hopeful to preserve the heart of it. “Just trust me, please. Tomorrow night, everything will be clear. No more secrets, I promise.”

Sophia paused, her expression torn. The part of her that loved Alexander wanted nothing more than to trust him completely, but the recent days of doubt had taken their toll. Finally, she nodded slowly, the decision to wait another day heavy on her heart.

The evening stretched on, the tension lingering between them like an unspoken question. Despite the efforts to salvage the atmosphere, the weight of uncertainty hung in the air, casting a shadow over their shared moments.

As they finished their dinner in an uneasy silence, Alexander found himself lost in thought, his mind racing with the weight of his secret.

After clearing the table, Sophia retreated to the living room, the flickering candles casting dancing shadows across her face as she sank into the comfort of the couch.

Alexander lingered in the kitchen for a moment, his mind consumed by the need to find a way to reassure her, to erase the doubt that had crept into their relationship.

With a heavy sigh, Alexander went to the bedroom and picked up one of his ties. Returning to the living room, he found Sophia on the couch and gently blindfolded her.

“Alexander, I’m not in the mood for games,” she protested.

“Me too,” he replied, his tone serious.

Sophia let him blindfold her, a mixture of confusion and curiosity lingering in her mind. Alexander carefully sat down next to her on the couch.

“When I tell you we have to trust each other, my love, that’s exactly what I mean,” Alexander began, his voice soft and reassuring.

He gently ran his fingers over Sophia’s arm, causing a shiver to run down her spine.

“I don’t understand,” she said, her voice barely a whisper.

“Patience,” Alexander replied calmly.

He continued to run his fingers carefully along her thighs, then along her stomach. Sophia held her breath, feeling his presence even though she saw nothing.

She could feel the spot on the couch where he was sitting, his warm skin next to hers, even though he was touching her very lightly. She could hear his breath mingling with hers.

Her heart raced as his fingers trailed down her neck to her face and rested on her lips. He gently touched her bottom lip with his thumb, sending a wave of heat washing over Sophia with just that slight gesture.

Alexander took her hand and placed it on his chest, where Sophia could feel his heart beating as fast as hers.

“When I tell you that no one else can make me feel the way you do, believe me. Even now with your eyes closed, you trust me to do whatever I want with you. And I can feel your body responding to me, Sophia. You love me too. I want you to remember that the next time you have doubts about me.

No one can make you feel the way I do, and vice versa.”

As Alexander finished speaking, he slowly removed the blindfold, allowing Sophia to take in the sight before her. The room was lit by the soft glow of candles, casting a warm and intimate ambiance. Sophia looked at Alexander, her eyes shimmering with emotion as she took in the love and sincerity in his gaze.

“Alexander, I…” she began, her voice soft, her heart filled with a mix of gratitude and love.

“Shh,” he whispered, placing a finger gently on her lips. “Let me show you.”

With a tender touch, Alexander guided Sophia’s hand, tracing the contours of his face, allowing her to feel every detail. Sophia’s fingers danced lightly over his features, a silent exchange of trust and affection. She felt the curve of his jawline, the softness of his lips, and the warmth of his skin, each touch reaffirming the bond they shared.

“You are everything to me, Sophia,” Alexander whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. “I will always be here for you, through every doubt and every fear.”
