Chapter 116 

Elizabeth came back to her senses and hurriedly went downstairs. He saw that Donald and Susan, the maid, and the housekeeper were all up. 

“Grandpa and grandma, you guys stay at home first. We’ll go to the hospital to take a look. I’ll call you guys after the babies are born!” Elizabeth looked at the flustered Donald and Susan and stopped walking out. She instructed the old couple, “Brenda. Sam, take care of the house!” 

Brenda and Sam nodded repeatedly to reassure her. 

On the other side, Mary also came down with the bag. Seeing that Donald and Susan were standing in the hall, she was about to say something when Susan waved at her, telling her to go quickly. 

Mary stopped talking and left with the bag. 

Donald and Susan certainly wanted to go with them, but they also knew that they were too old to help. If they were in a hurry, it might make things worse. So they let those who could help go first. It was fine for them to take their time. 

On the other side, Elizabeth waited for Mary to get into the car and then sepd away. Normally, if Elizabeth were driving so fast, Mary would have started to scold her. But at this moment, worried about Annabelle, Mary not only thought it was okay, but wished her daughter could drive faster. 

However, Mary still remembered not to rush anybody who was driving. So no matter how anxious she was, she did not say a word. 

Timothy, who had set off earlier than them, was not as lucky as Elizabeth. Lucas held Annabelle in his arms. Listening to her grunt from time to time, his heart tightened. He felt that Braxton was driving too slowly. Didn’t he hear that Annabelle was in so much pain that she was about to cry? 

Annabelle was indeed on the verge of tears. She was already a person who cried a lot. Every now and then, a wave of pain would come. It was so painful that her face had already turned pale and her tears were streaming down her face. She only relied on the fact that she was embarrassed to cry in front of Timothy. Otherwise, she would have been crying in Lucas’s arms long ago! 

However, Lucas’s heart ached when he saw her enduring the pain. He had to urge his father from time to time. “Dad, you need to drive faster!” 

Timothy was furious. He was just trying to be safe, okay? There was a pregnant woman who was in labor in his car. How could he drive fast? 

“Stop shouting!” Timothy told him to shut up and not affect his driving. 

Dissatisfied as he was, Lucas kept his mouth shut. If he didn’t have to take care of Annabelle, and if he wasn’t so nervous that his hands were trembling, he wouldn’t want his father to drive the car. 

The more anxious he was, the slower time passed. 

Lucas felt that it took a century to arrive at the hospital’s entrance, which usually took only half an hour. 

Fortunately, the hospital had already made preparations after such a long time. 

After Lucas placed Annabelle on the cart, he almost sat down. It was Timothy who reacted quickly and supported him. 

“Look at you!” Timothy said in disgust. 

Lucas glanced at his father and did not want to talk to him. But he could not admit that he was useless. He could only say calmly. “I was tripped!” 

Lucas didn’t want to admit that he had been nervous the whole time. He did not relax until Annabelle was handed over to 

the doctor. 

After various examinations, Annabelle was pushed into the delivery room. Lucas and Timothy were waiting outside the delivery room. After a while, Elizabeth and Mary rushed over. 

“Mom, why isn’t that girl shouting?” Lucas chased Elizabeth away, sat beside Mary, and asked with a worried expression. He still remembered that when Mary gave birth to Eliza and Benny, she shouted so much that she almost overturned the roof. He and Noah were still young, too, and their faces were white with fear. In the end, they were brought home by Sam! 

“Everyone is different!” Mary patted Lucas’s hand and told him not to be too nervous. “Some people are afraid of pain, and some people can endure it!” 

“Annabelle can’t tolerate this!” Lucas still remembered the little girl who cried when they first met. She could not suffer any grievances, or her tears would fall. 

Did giving birth have to be painful? Although Lucas had never experienced it before, he had read a lot of papers about it. Lucas was worried. Would Annabelle faint from crying? 

Thinking of this, Lucas could not sit still anymore.

“No, I have to go in and take a look!” 

However, as soon as he finished speaking. Timothy kicked him. In fact, Timothy had been enduring Lucas for a long time.

“Annabelle, don’t be afraid. Cry if it hurts. Don’t bear it!” Lucas did not hear anything and wanted to shout inside, but he was afraid that if he did so, he would scare Annabelle and the doctor again. It was fine if he scared the doctor, but what if it implicated Annabelle? 

Hence, he could only mutter softly through the crack in the door. 

Elizabeth thought that Lucas really liked Annabelle! 

She used to think Annabelle was trying to tie up Lucas with his children and was intent on breaking them up. 

“Thank goodness,” Elizabeth thought to herself. It was a good thing that Timothy brought her to the hospital and made her realize her mistake. Otherwise, she might have been killed by Lucas. 

Look, was this Lucas still her wise and mighty brother? 

As for Timothy and Mary, they were not in the mood to care about him at all. They were just waiting worriedly. 

That was when Donald and Susan arrived. 

Seeing the old couple coming. Timothy and Mary quickly got up to welcome them. 

“Why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to wait at home?” 

“We don’t feel at ease at home, so we might as well come and take a look!” Susan said. “How is it?” 

“Nothing yet!” Mary said as she helped Susan sit down. 

Donald sat beside Susan and pointed at his grandson, who was leaning against the door, and he asked in confusion, “What is that kid doing?” 

Everyone didn’t know what to say. 

After some time, the door of the delivery room was finally opened. Because Lucas was pressed against the door, he almost fell in when the door was opened without warning. He reacted quickly and steadied himself with the help of the door. The two nurses carrying the baby were shocked by him. Only when they saw that it was the baby’s father did they heave a sigh of relief. 

“Congratulations, the mother and the babies are safe!” One of the nurses said and was about to hand the baby in the swaddling clothes to Lucas. 

Unexpectedly, Lucas did not take it. He only looked into the delivery room nervously. “Where’s my wife? Why isn’t my wife 

out? How is she? Is she… 

Before Lucas could finish his sentence, Mary and Timothy pushed him away. They each carried a little baby before asking the nurse about Annabelle’s condition in a soft voice. 

“Everything is fine!” The young nurse smiled and said, “Everything went smoothly. The mother will be out in a while!” 

“Thank you, thank you!” Mary thanked her sincerely. 

Lucas, who was pushed to the side, finally heaved a sigh of relief. 

However, when he saw Annabelle’s pale face, sweaty hair, and bitten lips, his heart ached. 

“Are you stupid? Shout if it hurts. If you don’t shout, I won’t feel bad!” Lucas said in a hoarse voice as he wiped Annabelle’s 

sweat. 

Annabelle was physically and mentally exhausted. When she heard this, she could not help but smile. However, because of the wound at the corner of her mouth, she took a deep breath in pain. She knew that his heart ached for her. “Are our son and daughter pretty?” 

“Yes!” Lucas said without hesitation th
