Chapter 108 

Hazel Underhill had arrived together with her parents during the afternoon. The reason why she had chosen to come in the afternoon was to avoid her brother and Yolanda Littleton. 

Unfortunately, there existed people in this world who simply liked to annoy others. Not long after Hazel and her parents. arrived. Yolanda, who had already visited in the morning, also came. And not only did she come, she even brought over Howard Underhill, Josh Smith, and the rest of the group. 

Hazel’s expression immediately turned ugly upon seeing them. However, as it was the first day of the Lunar New Year and they were still at the Walker family’s home, Hazel did not want to make a scene. Hence, even though she felt uncomfortable, she still tried her best to smile at everyone. 

While the others might not know, Annabelle Ross and Elizabeth Walker naturally understood, so they immediately pulled Hazel upstairs to play. 

“Annabelle, Eliza, Hazel, the four of us make up enough players to have a game of mahjong! Just as they were about to go upstairs, Yolanda suddenly stood up from among the group of men and spoke to the girls. 

Annabelle was the first to shake her head. As an obedient girl, how could have ever learned to gamble? “I don’t know how to play that!” 

“You can learn!” Yolanda walked over with a smile, spreading her flirtatious charms everywhere. “It’s very easy to learn!” 

Annabelle instinctively looked at Hazel. Whether or not they would play was still a decision she would defer to Hazel. After all. Hazel was her friend, while Yolanda was a bad, scheming woman. 

“Go ahead!” While observing the pair of sisters–in–law that were looking at her, Hazel could not help but chuckle. She was indeed quite fearful of this woman. After all, she had been traumatized for many years since she was young. However, after she rebelled against her brother for the first time, the mental trauma she had received from them had already begun to heal! 

This was also what she had learned in the past few days. One had to first learn to love themselves before one could be loved by others! 

She had treated herself far too poorly in the past! That was the reason why she had allowed them to bully her however they wanted. 

“Go ahead!” Hazel said. “I’m not very good at it either!” 

Elizabeth’s eyebrows rose. She did not expect that Hazel would agree. However, she still felt that this was a good change. After all, there was no need for Hazel to deliberately hide from Yolanda. It wasn’t as if she was some ferocious beast. What was there to be afraid of? 

And just like that, the four of them set up a table to play a game of mahjong. 

As Annabelle was the only one who didn’t know how to play mahjong, the result was obvious. She ended up suffering the most losses. 

Although Elizabeth and Hazel wanted to help her, she couldn’t tell! Hence, they could only worry from her side. 

As she watched her account balance on her phone decrease, Annabelle grew ever closer to the cusp of crying. Why did she impulsively agree to play mahjong? Especially when she was playing against Yolanda Littleton! On seeing Yolanda’s bright smile, Annabelle grew even more depressed. 

When Lucas Walker came to get some drinking water and passed by them, he saw Annabelle looking at him pitifully. appearing as if she was about to cry. 

He immediately stopped in his tracks. “Losing?” 

Annabelle looked at him and nodded pitifully. Not only did she lose, but she also lost a lot. 

“Don’t be upset. Your hubby will help you win it back!” Lucas patted her shoulder and spoke gently. 

When Annabelle heard that, she immediately smiled and stood up to give Lucas her seat. Seeing that he was still holding his glass, she even went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water for him. 

In the beginning. Yolanda did not think much of it. Although she felt a little uncomfortable seeing him so protective of Annabelle, she imagined herself beating him, and wondered how he would explain himself to Annabelle once that happens. 

However, after losing three rounds in a row, Yolanda lost her ambition! 

This was especially so when she saw the originally anxious Hazel and Elizabeth grimming so widely that their teeth were exposed, and she grew even more furious. 

It wasn’t that she cared about the money. She simply didn’t like seeing them smiling so happily. 

After Annabelle saw that Lucas was winning every round, her smile immediately reached her eyes. She was receiving so much money that her hands started to tire. 

Chapter 108 

If this continued, she would be able to win back the money she lost very quickly. 

After losing six rounds in a row, Yolanda no longer wanted to continue playing. Unfortunately, Lucas did not allow her to 

retreat at all. 

“No, please. gambling god, you can’t bully us little mooks!” Yolanda said, “We’re just playing to kill time!” 

“Continue!” Lucas calmly said instructed. 

His short and simple retort made Yolanda sit back down obediently. 

“Yolanda, that’s unfair of you!” Elizabeth complained, “Annabelle is a newbie, but I didn’t see you going easy on her at all with your bullying!” 

“That’s right, Yolanda. Be magnanimous! It’s just a game!” Hazel also smiled and said, “There’s no need to get upset!” 

Yolanda’s expression turned ugly. Hah! So could any Tom, Dick, and Harry just criticize her right now? 

Lucas won back the money that Annabelle had lost. Only then did he get up and leave. Naturally, Annabelle did not continue to play. As a pregnant woman, she could not sit still for a long time. 

“Yolanda, gambling isn’t good. In the future, don’t call us to play mahjong!” Annabelle believed that gambling was casily addictive and indicated that she would never play mahjong again. Of course, she did not forget to remind the initiator of this game as well. 

Yolanda was speechless. In her mind, she cursed at Annabelle. 

Yolanda chose to ignore Annabelle. She nodded perfunctorily and went back to Josh and the others to invite them to her house for dinner. 

“By the way. Hazel is here as well. Why don’t we get Hazel to come with us? It was my fault the last time. Let’s treat this time as my apology to Hazel!” After getting everyone’s agreement, Yolanda said to Howard, “I was so focused on playing mahjong earlier that I forgot about this matter. Howard, don’t forget to let Hazel know. I’ll go home first to prepare dinner!” 

“Sure!” Howard instinctively agreed. However, after answering, he remembered what Hazel had said to him and immediately regretted it. Unfortunately, before he could explain, Yolanda had already turned around and left. 

Howard’s eyebrows furrowed with his troubled thoughts! 

“What kind of expression is that?” Irving Johnson asked in doubt. 

“Hazel might not want to go!” Howard whispered in reply. To be honest, he was already being reserved by saying that his sister might not want to go. He was certain that Hazel would definitely not follow. 

“If she doesn’t want to go, then she doesn’t have to go!” Irving was dumbfounded. He had expected a bigger problem to be on Howard’s mind. “All you need to do is tell Yolanda that she has something to do and can’t go. What’s there to be troubled 

about!” 

When Howard heard this, he felt a huge shock in his mind. Was… was it that simple? He recalled every time in the past how Yolanda’s words were like imperial edicts. No matter if Hazel was willing, he would bring her along, and Hazel would turn depressed for the next few days every single time. 

So… It turned out that this was actually his problem! 

Hazel was about to go home with her parents when she was stopped by her brother. 

Hazel instantly knew without even thinking about it that Yolanda must have said something to him. So, was she here now to stand up for Yolanda? 

“Yolanda invited you to her house for dinner, do you…” 

“I’m not going!” Hazel declined instantly without hesitation.

“No matter what, I won’t go. Don’t try to persuade me!” Hazel thought that he was going to give a bunch of reasons why she should go and force her to follow, so she interrupted him and loudly declined. 

“I’m sorry!” Howard reached out to pat his little sister’s head, but Hazel dodged his hand. “I was me who was wrong in the past!” 

Hazel was stunned.
