Zaphira's Flame's

chapter 14

Our driver didn’t need directions he knows exactly where I live, which I’m not sure if I should be at all concerned that someone I don’t know, knows where I live or not.

After everything that happened today, that explosion, and now this, I don’t know what I am going to do.

Our driver pulled the car over Raphe got out, giving me a hand.

Looking around, even though I’ve only been gone a short while, this place looks so different. But then again it might just be me, that’s different, and now nothing will ever be the same ever again.

But I’m not sure what my neighbours will think about me getting out of a limo with two good looking guys, and in the clothes we’re in, and Raphe covered in soot, and looking dishevelled.

“We need to get the two of you inside before my neighbours see you.”

Since I don’t have my keys, I grabbed my spare, unlocking the front door. But Alex stopped me; before I took a step.

“I’m doing a sweep before you go in.” Sighing, I stepped aside, so he can move past, gun in hand.

Looking around, there’s no one on the streets, but it feels like there’s someone watching us from behind there curtains.

Alex came out saying that it’s safe to go in, he saw that I still have the gun and took it from me, and moved aside so we can go in.

Closing the door, I pointed to the bathroom.

“You two need to clean up; I’ll start packing.” Leaning against the wall, I took off my heels and went into my room, while they went to clean up.

Stepping into my room, I grabbed what bags I have left and started packing, wondering what the hell happened out there. Who the hell attacked us, and most of all what talked to me in my head, while I tried to call my fire? I thought about changing, but decided not to, and packed the last of my clothes. Stepping out of my room, with some of my bags and set them at the door, going around grabbing some things I need. Like my laptop, and things like that, along with some of my favorite books and my favorite blanket; going back to my room, stuffing it all in my bag.

“You ready to go?”

Turning around, Alex is leaning against the door, arms folded across his chest. “Yeah, I think so. Is Raphe good?” “Yes I am.” He said coming up behind Alex, looking cleaner than he did before. “If you put my stuff in the car, I won’t be a moment.” They nodded, grabbed my bags, leaving me alone for a moment.

Walking around, this is my home; I don’t want to leave it, but I know I have to, it’s the only way to keep everyone safe, including myself. Picking up my last bag, I grabbed little hand badge, and walked out locking the door behind me, meeting Alex half way to the car, takin my bag from me.

“You alright?” I nodded, taking his hand, taking one last look at my home. “Don’t worry, we will have your car brought to the house; just to be on the safe side. Now in the car, we have to get back to the house.”

Stepping in; Alex came in next to me, and Raphe sat in his usual seat and told the driver we’re ready to leave, and pulled away from the curb.

Driving through the city, we passed fire trucks, police cars; heading to the hotel; but of course we’re staying clear of the place. After a short while we pulled into the driveway; the gate opening for us, and closing after we drove through.

“So there are numerous demons that live around here, correct?” Raphe nodded, as we climbed out of the car. “So what is there to stop the rouge vamps from coming here, and trying to take over?” “That won’t happen. We are protected here. No unwanted visitor is allowed in. We are safe; you are safe.” We grabbed my bags, from the trunk, then it hit me.

“How are we protected? What aren’t you telling me?” “We can do some elemental magic. But only to what element we control. To answer your next question, yes you will learn it; but it will take some time to learn it, like it did for the rest of us.”

I can learn how to do magic? I’m not sure I will ever get used to this. Alex and I walked into the house, but Raphe didn’t follow us, turning around he’s still standing in the driveway. I was about to say something but Alex stopped me.

“No, just leave him, come on.” Taking one last look at him, we walked inside, leaving him standing there, but Alex had taken my bag from him. There’s only four of them, but it feels like more, most of my life is packed in these bags, since who knows when I might get to go home next.

“Hey you sure you’re okay? I mean after everything that happened today, it’s ok to be not all right.” Looking at him. “No to be perfectly honest I’m not all right. We almost died today. Other than Zack, you and Raphe are the only people I have left that I care about. Yes I know there are others, but right now, it’s you two.”

Stopping me he looked at me.

“You won’t lose us, nothing is going to happen to you, or us.” “You don’t know that. None of us knows what will happen down the road, and now with those rouge vamps out there.” “Come with me.” He said going into my room, throwing my stuff on the floor, grabbing my bags from me, he dropped them, and grabbed hold of me, making me look at him.

“You will not lose us, and we will not lose you. The vamps will not get a hold of you, not while I’m around.” Taking the chance I kissed him, winding my fingers through his hair, pulling him closer.

Tightening his grip on me, he started moving us until the back of my legs hit the edge of my bed, pushing me back onto the bed.

Moving my hands down his back, I managed to remove his jacket and running my hands up and his back, making him moan against my mouth, pushing his tongue past my lips, rubbing against mine. Moving my hands over his back, and around to the front to his hard chest, I started undoing the buttons of his shirt; until I have every last button undone moving the folds so I can feel his skin under my fingers.

Moving back, he launched himself off the bed, moving away from me, trying to get control over himself.

“We can’t do this. We’re both upset, and we can’t do this, not here; not like this.” “I’m sorry. It’s me, I shouldn’t have done that.” “No I should have known better. Everything that has happened today.” “No stop saying that. I wanted it, but please stop blaming yourself for what just happened.”

“I like you Z and I don’t want to do anything to hurt you. I won’t do anything to hurt you.” Shaking my head. “You won’t, I know you won’t. So for now let’s just forget about it.” He nodded, doing back up his shirt. “We need to get cleaned up, and you need to unpack. So I will leave you to it.”

I nodded, as he grabbed his jacket, and got out of my room as fast as he can, closing my door, giving me some privacy. Trying to relax; I got out of my bed, and went to my bathroom, pulling off my dress, there’s a laundry hamper in the corner; throwing everything I’m wearing in; I looked in the bathroom mirror; my face is filthy, moving my hair; Alex’s bite mark is still there, but there’s another thing in my neck, there’s a piece of shrapnel imbedded in my neck. I want to pull it out; but I don’t think I should. Wrapping a towel around myself, I went out to Alex’s room which is right beside mine.

“Alex please open up.” Opening his door, his shirt is off; but his eyes are dark red. “What is it?” “There’s something imbedded in my neck, I thought I should come to you, instead of pulling it out on my own.” He nodded moving aside so I can come into his room. “Sit down, and I will get something to clean that up with.” Sitting on his bed; he went to his bathroom and came out with a small first aid kit.

Sitting next to me; he moved my hair showing the shrapnel imbedded in my neck. “How did this happen?” “It must have happened when the bomb went off. I wanted to pull it out but I thought I should see you first.” “It’s good you did; this is almost to your curated artery, if it went over another inch or so; you could bleed out.”

“So what are you going to do then?” “Pull it out. It’s the only thing we can do. So on the count of three, one, two, and three.” He pulled it out, sending little bouts of pain through me. Instantly he put something to my neck, to stop the bleeding.

“I have to give you some of my blood to heal it.” Moving the padding. “What the hell? It’s healing on its own. Why is it healing on its own?” “I have no idea. Is it because of the blood you gave me? Am I part vampire?” “I don’t know. I have never heard of anything like this, but with everything that’s going on; who knows anything could be possible now. You’re all healed, after you get cleaned up; we’ll go see Raphe maybe he’ll know what’s happened to you.” I nodded and started to get up; Alex didn’t try to stop me, as I walked over to the door.

Without turning around I said, holding my towel tight around myself. “I will see you in a while. I shouldn’t be very long.” “Alright, I’ll see you in a bit then.” I walked out without another word, closing the door, I went back to my room heading right the bathroom, to get cleaned up.
