Chapter 270
Meanwhile, Patricia was having a piece of strawberry and smiling sweetly while gazing at Isaac. When she heard her son's words, she hurriedly gulped them down. "Oh, okay."
She shuffled toward Zachary and smiled at him. "I'll see you off, Zachary."
The man rose from the chair and walked out of the house alongside her.
Scott sent a signal to Stellan with his eyes, and the latter beckoned to his sister. "Why don't you choose a room now, Sylvie?"
Sylvie had yet to select her bedroom. Upon hearing that, she slid down from the couch and trotted toward him. "Alright."
Recalling that Isaac was still there, she waved her hand at him. "We're neighbors now, Mr. Handsome. Please visit me more often."
Faced with the young girl's adorable smile, Isaac dipped his head. "Sure."
Sylvie and Stellan went upstairs while Scott stood in front of Isaac. They sported the same kind of expression as they gaped at each other and twisted their lips into a sneer.
Scott said coldly, "We're not that close, Mr. Arnold. Moreover, office romances are frowned upon in any company, so please keep a distance from my mommy. Also, we don't welcome you here."
As he spoke, he lifted his hand. "Please."
The young kid was chasing him away politely but coldly, which made Isaac furrow his brows. He had never received this kind of treatment before, so he was displeased. However, he didn't want to settle the score with a kid. "Scott, I'll show you with my actions that I'm taking your mother seriously."
Then, he rose from the couch and left the place. This man was still as haughty as ever even though he had been treated impolitely. Since he had been chased away, he wouldn't insist on staying.
At the door, Zachary looked Patricia in the eye. "I'll always wait for you, Tricia."
Patricia frowned. "I've given it some thought, Zachary, and I don't think we're compatible."
At the thought of the man inside the house, she decided to be brave for once. Although she had never fallen in love before, she knew that she was fond of that man, and she wanted to appreciate him.
Zachary's expression darkened as he pulled her coat tighter, worried she might catch a cold. "You haven't even given it a try, Tricia. How do you know we're not compatible? From now on… No, since I met your grandfather the other day, I decided I'd woo you. Please don't turn me down."
As he spoke, he forcefully pulled her into his embrace and whispered, "I love you."
He then released her and eyed her for a moment before getting into his car.
The car drove away slowly. Patricia was rooted to the spot, for it was the first time a man said he loved her. That felt strange, but she knew that Zachary was just a friend she would treasure for life.
Just then, Isaac came over and took her hand before striding forward.
With her hand in his, Patricia couldn't help but smile. Their shadows were long under the yellowish lamplights.
After entering his house, he pressed the woman against the door and kissed her. She could feel his emotions; the man must have seen Zachary pulling her into his embrace, so he was furious now. In fact, the kiss was a little harsh.
Although she was in pain, she didn't push him away. She moved her hands up and wrapped them around his neck, responding to him.
Sensing her touch, Isaac felt all his fury vanishing in an instant. He stopped for a moment as he felt the woman sticking her tongue into his mouth. Patricia stopped as well and glanced at him with her watery eyes.
Their lips still stuck close as they gazed at each other, and Isaac felt a sense of warmth in his heart.
On the other hand, Patricia parted her lips with his and took a step back. Tugging the man's shirt, she asked, "Are you mad?"
