Chapter 53
Beatrice had her mouth wide open, and her eyes were the size of a tennis ball. “Wow, Aunty Ilis, you kissed my Owie, and now it's gone! Thank you so much,” she said in a cute baby voice and placed a kiss on my cheek.
“Beatrice, don't go and tell anyone about this, alright?”
“But why?” she arched her eyebrow and looked at me with curious eyes.
“Because then if anyone gets hurt they will ask me to fix them, so if I start doing that, then how will my cupcake be special to me, right?” I asked her, and she thought for a bit before she nodded her head and took the plaster that was on my bedside table and wrapped her finger with it.
This girl is more clever than me. I didn't even think of it.
“I promise, I will not tell anyone,” she said, and then she left my room with a skip on her steps and singing her favorite nursery rhyme.
Once she left, I quickly got up from my bed and went over and locked my room door before I stared at myself in the mirror.
I have never been able to do this before, then how is this possible now?
My head was hurting even more with trying to find an answer to this question, but then something struck my memory. I remember what Jace told me about a piece of jewelry that his grandmother had. And the wearer of that piece will be able to control the entire werewolf race, have healing powers, and many more.
I slowly brought my right hand towards my eye level and stared at the ring that was on my finger, and a cold shiver ran down my spine. This is not the ring that I made.
Oh my God! I must have taken the wrong ring in a hurry.
But for some reason, I felt like I took something that should be rightfully mine, but I didn't know why I felt it. But now the curious side of me wanted to test what I am capable of doing, so I went inside the bathroom and took a blade out from the cabinet, and with shaky hands, I made a small but deep cut on my left wrist.
The moment the top skin broke, and the blade went deeper into my flesh, I felt excruciating pain, but I kept going till I was satisfied, the blood was flowing from my wrist, and it stained the pristine white sink.
I took a deep breath and cleared my mind and closed my eyes and thought of how my skin would mend itself back together, and gently placed my fingers on the wound, and for a couple of minutes, I didn't feel anything, and when I opened my eyes, I saw that the blood was still flowing at an alarming rate, and I am starting to get a little light-headed.
You have just done the stupidest thing in your life, Iris.
I yelled at my inner self and quickly held the sink to support myself. But my head was still spinning, and I can hear a ringing in my ear. But I didn't give up my hope, with my last ounce of strength, I tried to do it again, and this time, I felt a tingling sensation on my wound, I opened my eyes to see that the wound was slowly closing and after a few seconds it completely closed.
And my head stopped spinning, but I was still weak with all that blood loss, so I quickly sat on the bathroom floor and looked at my hand to see a faint pink scar.
Wow, so I can heal myself and others, now that is cool. I wonder what other things am I able to do?
I went back inside my room and took a set of clothes to wear and went back inside the bathroom to take a shower and change. I took thirty minutes in the shower, and once I was done, I came outside and put my dirty clothes in the hamper, and started blow drying my hair.
Beep beep
My phone vibrated from the bed, and I took it to see that I had two messages, so I opened it to see that it was from an unknown number and I immediately realized that it must be Alan. But the first message was empty, and the second one had an image when I downloaded it. It was a picture of Alan, and he was holding a board, and something was written on it.
Hello Princess, you have forty-eight hours left. Think wisely.
Beep beep
I almost dropped my phone in fright, and my heart was already racing. This time it was a message from Walter asking if I would be coming to the packhouse today, but I didn't reply to that since I was still trying to get out from my initial shock.
I only have two days left, and I still didn't come up with a plan.
But then my eyes involuntarily moved towards the ring, and I started to wonder what exactly this ring can do, but to find that out, I need to talk to someone who knows about this, and I know just the person.
I quickly finished blowing and drying my hair, and I applied a bit of lip gloss before I left my room with my handbag and phone. I rushed down the stairs and enter the kitchen to see that mom and Beatrice were the only two people at home.
“Good morning, mom.” I went over and placed a kiss on her cheek, and she returned my kiss and placed a plate full of bacon, eggs, and toast in my hand.
“So, where are you headed today?”
“I am going to meet someone. And I won't be back for lunch.” I informed her, and she nodded her head while she started eating her breakfast.
“Where are Dad and Ada?”
“Ada went to work, and your dad found a few friends in town yesterday, so he has gone to hang out with them,” she said air quoting the word hang out, and Beatrice and I laughed.
“Come on, girls, doesn't that man get it, that he is too old to go and hang out in the pool area?” mom asked me, and I choked on my bacon.
“Pool area? What is he doing there.”
“Apparently, his new friends think that they are still in their early twenties, so they wanted to go and check out the swimming pool at this age. I swear to God, if he comes home with a broken hip or a leg, I will not be taking care of that.” mom said, and then all of us burst into laughter.
