Wolf Pack

Chapter The Forsaken

Jack was going to respond, but instead he saw me sitting on the floor, still in disbelief of what could have happened. His arms wrapped around me and lifted me up, I felt safe immediately, but I just wanted to get out of there.

I lifted my gaze to Jack, his green eyes were wide, scared, and with the glare of his wolf, which I know took over his body as he beat the Forsaken, but at the same time trying to comfort me, I just felt the tears welling up, panic, fear, but there with him I felt loved and safe. He whispered to me asking if I was okay, I managed to nod positively.

“Is this serious Otto? Did you see what just happened?” Hughes yelled, he had fury in his eyes, he too was in disbelief and took a few steps forward to confront him.

“It was just a Forsaken driven by today’s lust.” Otto spoke gesturing with his hands as if he was just going to let it go, he walked in circles and kept talking. “There’s a prophecy the oracle made years ago that Luna must have her Soulmeet with an outcast, I figured it was with some Forsaken, and I made them aware of that.” Otto said again very calmly, as if everything that happened was normal.

“She already had the Soulmeet.” Jack said with me in his arms.

Otto stopped walking, his eyes widened and he stood still for a few seconds, trying to understand, he turned to us with his mouth open, in disbelief.

“It’s not possible… with your Beta, the prophecy said… it can’t be. I even made Marcos meet her before, I thought it might be him.” Otto said babbling still walking in circles.

“Wait, Marcos? Marcos my ex-boyfriend?”

Then a black wolf came out of the forest, he was wounded, I recognized it to be the black wolf that tried to attack me, and he transmuted into a human, it was Marcos, my only boyfriend, naked with his short hair almost shaved, and the stubble, we stayed together about 6 months ago, but I hadn’t seen him for over a year, he kept coming back, and now I understood why.

“You forced him to date me? That’s not possible.” I felt completely manipulated.

“It wasn’t really a push, it was more of a strong suggestion.” Otto said smiling, that smile that now made my stomach knot, I felt nauseous, and wanted to throw up right then and there.

Marcos looked at me seriously, almost as if he was sorry, he looked away and looked at the crowd of the Vila, he walked calmly, almost as if he was hypnotized, and Mina came out of the crowd, walking towards him, and right there it happened, their Soulmeet, was a touch of happiness and love in those moments of horror that I had gone through. They transmuted into a wolf and Mina’s navy blue dress fell to the ground, they huddled together and headed into the forest. I looked around and saw only scared stares, except for the Forsaken, it was like they were enjoying the show, especially Otto.

“That’s enough, that’s it… I’ve heard too much for today. Let’s get out of here.” I let go of Jack’s embrace, but still holding his hand and walking back to the village, I wanted to end it all.

“We’re leaving, we’ve had enough for today, but I’ll be back Luna, I’ll be back” Otto said almost like a threat, and I felt his words hurt in my chest, like a death sentence.

We all walked back to the party that lost its luster after the event, I sat on a wooden chair outside, my hands resting on my head as I looked at nothing trying to take it all in.

“Are you okay Luna?” Hughes crouched down to my sitting height, his blue eyes empathizing and he was genuinely concerned.

“I’m in shock, and trying to take it all in, I… I don’t know.”

“It’s been a lot for today kid, go rest and remember the good parts of that night, and let Jack take care of you.” Alina said running her hands through my hair.

I nodded and smiled at Jack, who was there for me and I knew it. He sat down next to me, and holding my hands and with all the sweetness in the world in his eyes, he asked me:

“Are you really okay? Is there anything I can do for you?”

“The fact that I have you by my side, it’s great, perfect actually. The part where I just found out that my other grandpa is a psycho Alpha of the Forsaken, that they’re not just a group with no rules by policy , they really think horrible things are normal, and that my ex-boyfriend, the only relationship I’ve ever had in my life, was a wolf trying to get close to me on my grandfather’s orders, and that even though he was my father’s father, thought super normal for a wolf to try to rape me…” I took a breath to complete the sentence. “That fact I’m still processing, but I’ll be fine.”

It really had been too much happening for one day.
