Wolf Bond

My eyes flutter open and I find myself caged in a pair of arms. My heart suddenly goes into a panic, but a moment later when my eyes land on Donovon’s face I find myself relaxing in his embrace.

Tightening his hold on me, he pulls me more towards himself as he presses his lips on my forehead.

“Relax, Ivory,” he murmurs against my skin, “I have got you.”

Leaning my head slightly back, I glance at his face as overwhelming emotions swirl inside my heart. Before I know what is happening, wrapping my arm around him I clutch him tightly as sobs escape from my mouth.

Hiding my face in his chest, I start crying which instantly wakes him up.

“Hey, calm down,” he whispers as he rubs circles on my back, “Tell me, what happened, why are you crying?”

No words come out of my mouth as I continue to cry. I had lost all my hopes to be able to hold him again, opening my eyes to his face, or falling sleep in his arms.

Everything was a part of my agonizing memories because whenever those memories used to flash before me it only made my heart shatter into a million pieces all over again.

Being in his arms, bring back all the pain which I have felt because of his absence from my life.

The pain of being rejected... the pain of knowing someone else is claiming who is mine... the pain of living a life without him, when I have tasted the happiness of living with him.

I have lived with all this pain, and now when I have got back almost everything which I have lost... these tears are not ready to stop which I have kept locked inside my eyes.

“Please, let me cry.” I take a shaky breath inhaling his comforting scent, “I need to let this pain out, I have been keeping this inside me for so long. I need to free myself from this anguish.”

His chest rises and falls as he takes a deep breath and then he holds me securely against his chest as I allow myself to break into his arms because I know he is there to hold me.

I don’t how long have passed, but it feels like my eyes have spent all the tears and now there is nothing left inside my eyes. He kisses my hair what it feels like for the thousandth and slightly pulls back to see my face realizing I have stopped crying now.

Tucking my hair behind my ear, he gently caresses my face as he looks into my eyes.

“This is the only time, I have allowed you to cry, Ivory,” he says in a stern tone, “Never again I will let you cry, I hate watching tears in your eyes. Your cries were wrenching my soul and I know there is nothing which I wouldn’t do to never let these tears fall from your eyes.”

“I have lived my worst fears when I was away from you. I have lost my everything which was precious to me than my own life. You...Ella... my Wolfie. And now I have got you back, I have my Ella, and I am sure soon my Wolfie will also come back to me.” Biting my lip, I close my eyes.

“But still everything feels like a dream to me, I am afraid that I will open my eyes then again I will be left with nothing.” I sigh, “I will be again alone, living with the memories which once used to bring a smile on my face, however, now they are nothing but the reason behind the tears in my eyes.”

“I hated you so much, Donovon.” I lock my eyes with him as I pour my heart in front of him, “I swear, I wanted to hurt you for every tear which I have cried. I thought you never truly loved me and the only thing which tied us together was the mate bond... I thought without mate bond there was no love between us, otherwise, your heart would have recognized the truth in my eyes and you wouldn’t have ever thrown me out of your life. This realization hurt me the most, Donovon, because I wanted you to love me without any influence of the mate bond. I just wanted us to have pure love which consumes the heart and soul.”

“Maybe this is the reason why we have gone through all those sufferings,” he speaks quietly, as his thumb traces my lips, “So, that we can recognize our true love, which is stronger than any mate bond. Once the mate bond was gone, then the only thing which binds us, was our love for each other. That same love helped me to fight everything which was trying to keep me away from you. I may not have remembered your face or your name, but my heart knew there is someone who is mine... there is someone to whom I belong.”

“Maybe that's the first step of breaking the spell, breaking our mate bond...” He smiles.

My eyes widen in the realization that what he is saying might be right. As they cast the spell on our mate bond which was keeping him away from remembering me and our love. And when I had broken our mate bond it somewhere awakened back the feelings inside his heart which were concealed from him due to the spell on our bond. Once the bond was severed, then there was nothing that was keeping his feelings trapped.

The joy which fills my heart is indescribable, as soon as I realize it was our love that brought us together, it was our love that brought Ella back.

“You know, somewhere you helped me to bring Ella back.” I smile and this time the tears which I have in my eyes are of happiness, “Your heart felt my pain, my wolfie heard my cries...it was our love which revived our daughter.”

I tell him everything how Ella came back to me after I have lost her... how I have seen Wolfie and how we both have given a part of us to her, to give her the life which was mercilessly snatched from her.

Tears slip from his eyes, as he hides his face in the crook of my neck.

“I am so sorry, Ivory.” He breathes, “Because of me, you have suffered so much... because of me, we had nearly lost our daughter. Maybe if I was strong enough to fight the curse, nothing would have happened.”

“Donovon.” Turning my head I kiss the side of his face, “Because of you, we have realized our true love... because of you, we were able to bring back our daughter. You are so strong that you never give up on the hope of breaking this curse. I am aware that we still need to find a way to completely free ourselves from this curse, but I know together we will be able to overcome every challenge and hurdle.”

“I love you, Donovon.” I smile softly at him when he lifts his face from my neck, “And this time I will not let anyone come in between us.”

His face lit up as a bright smile graces his lips and even before I can blink he captures my lips in a kiss which is filled with so much love that it removes every trace of pain from my heart replacing it with only warmth.
