Chapter 57
“So from now, all the ties between our packs are cut. However, if there is any calamity we will always come forward to help your pack because I can’t let the innocent people suffer because of their Alpha.” He shakes his head, “Other than that don’t expect anything from us or our pack.” His posture is rigid as Alpha power seeping into his tone.
“I am taking my sister back home... to her home where she belongs.” He glances, at me then turns his attention back to Arthur, “You two will always be welcome to our pack, but if I ever find Donovon anywhere near my sister I will gut him alive.”
“I understand and I agree.” Arthur gives a curt nod.
“Ivory... please forgive us.” Julia’s pain-filled eyes turn to me, “We can’t return what you have lost, but we will always pray for your happiness.” She rushes to me and engulfs me in a hug.
Swallowing back my tears, I wrap my arms around her because whatever has happened is not their fault. She caresses my face and kisses my forehead, then she leaves the room with Arthur.
My eyes connect with Donovon who is sitting on his knees looking defeated. Donovon silently stares at me, with a tears-stricken face. Somewhere I hope to see my Wolfie in him, but I know he is not there...
If he had... then nothing would have happened. I would have still been the same Ivory, whose world revolved around her mate and best friend.
“Ivory, we are ready to leave.” James’s voice tears my gaze away from him.
“Okay.” I nod my head.
“No, please, don’t go...” Donovon whispers, his eyes not leaving my face.
Ignoring him, I stand up while steadying myself with the support of the bed. My wound still raw, just like the wound on my heart.
The physical wound will be healed with time, but the wound on my heart can never be healed.
Straightening up my back, I look at Donovon for the last time as I walk outside the room. My steps steady and confident, no emotion or pain visible on my face... no one will ever see me broken.
James speaks as he wraps his arm around my shoulder, “Always remember, Ella is not gone... she is the strength with which you are going to strike your enemies, she is the tear which will fall from your eyes, and she is the love which you will spread through your existence... she is the forgiveness which you will gift others because they have earned it.”
His words force me to look at him, he just smiles and squeezes my shoulder.
“Ella will always live inside you, so now you have to live for her, Ivory.” He kisses my temple.
A silent tear rolls down from my eye, which I wipe with my finger as determination runs through my veins.
I will bathe myself with the blood of the people who ruined my happiness. I will take my revenge from everyone because of whom I have lost my Wolfie and my child... and my mate.
The people who tried to hurt me will soon learn their mistakes. Because by snatching my everything, they made me invincible.
Donovon’s POV
As soon as she walks away, excruciating pain grips my head. Different voices start to echoes in my head, like many people are speaking all at once.
Clutching my hair, I pull them to stop these voices, but they keep on increasing. A point comes when all voices sound like the buzzing sound of bees, making my head dizzy.
I try to fight them off, but the sounds become louder and louder. I fall on the ground and turn into a fetal position while clasping my hands on my ears as it feels like my head will explode with this pressure.
Come to me.
Suddenly, one voice becomes clear.
“No.” I clench my teeth.
Don’t fight the pull, Donovon. You are only making it difficult for yourself.
The voice laughs, mocking my attempts to onto give in.
“There is no pull... all lie... you are a liar,” I manage to say, “I will not come to you.”
“Ivory...” Unintentionally her name leaves my mouth with a whimper, momentarily silencing that voice.
“Ivory...” I repeat her name, like a chant that can save me from my misery.
Each time when I say her name unknown emotion stirs inside my heart. I still can’t understand why is this happening, but I know only she can save me.
Something has unlocked inside me, as her face flashes before my eyes. A feeling of calmness slowly starts to settle inside me, but then an abrupt sharp pain jolts my body, and everything goes blank as darkness clutches me in its claws.
The feeling of hand traveling from my waist towards my chest forces me to open my eyes. A frown appears on my face, as I find myself on the bed while Emma is curled beside me.
“Good morning.” She glances at me through her lashes as she runs her fingers across my bare chest.
“What are you doing here?” I ask while trying to move away from her.
“Last night, you were not ready to leave me, Donovon.” She laughs and then makes a pout, “You didn’t let me sleep even for once.” She presses herself against me only making me realize the lack of clothing beneath the sheet which is covering our bodies.
My heart hammers rapidly against my chest, as I don’t remember anything. I don’t remember where was I or how I came here. I don’t have any memory of the previous day.
Something is not right, I am forgetting something important.
“What’s wrong, baby?” She kisses my neck, “It is too early to look stressed.”
“Want me to help you to release your stress?” Her lips tilt upwards suggestively, “I will make you forget everything, Donovon.”
She brings her mouth on mine, as she kisses me. This is wrong, it should not be happening, but I am not able to fight it. Something forces me to kiss her back, but there is no connection or feelings... everything seems forced.
My heart is twisting painfully inside my chest as her touch repulse me, but I feel like a puppet in her hands.
I am forgetting something... no, someone important.
I have to remember...
