Chapter 52
More than two days have passed, but still, Donovon is unconscious. Doctors are clueless because he should have been up by now, apart from the deep laceration in his chest all his wounds are almost healed.
I have not left his side even for a moment, because with the lack of our bond only his presence is somewhat comforting me.
However, I am feeling extremely restless since the last hour. Standing up from the chair, I walk to the window and open it.
Fresh air fills the room, slightly calming me.
Turning around, I glance at Donovon as a small sigh leaves my lip.
He is near to me, but still, it feels that he is very far.
“Wake up, Donovon,” I speak quietly to him, “It hurts me to see you like this.”
“I miss you.” I hold his hand tightly in mine, “Nothing feels good without you.”
“Once you will be up, I promise I will listen to everything you will say, I will not trouble you at all. But please it is enough now, I can’t see you like this.” My shoulders shake and I lower my head on our joined hands, “It hurts not to hear your voice, everything seems so daunting without you. I need you... your Ivory needs you. Please wake up now!” I beg as my throat constricts painfully.
“I am scared Donovon, I want you to hold me to take away this pain which is tearing me from inside.” I whimper, as hot tears continue to fall from my eyes, “Open your eyes and see how dead your Ivory is without you.”
The knocking on the door forces me to compose myself as I quickly wipe my tears.
After a moment Wyatt enters the room and Jenna follows him. She comes to me and wraps her arms around me.
“He will wake up soon, don’t worry, Ivory,” she whispers giving me a gentle squeeze.
She releases me from the hug, as she stands beside me.
Everyone is giving me space, as they can sense I don’t want to be around anyone. But sometimes, a comforting hug from a friend gives you the strength which you are gradually losing.
“Ivory, you haven’t left this room since Donovon has been brought here.” Wyatt’s tone is gentle, “Why don’t you go home for some time until I will be here with him?”
“I don’t want to leave him.” I shake my head.
“I know.” He smiles, “But do you want him to kill us when he will know that we haven’t looked after his Ivory in his absence?”
“Please, go home and rest for a while.” He smiles at me as he nods his head at Jenna, “Take her home then bring her back after a while.”
“But-” I start to protest.
“Ivory, I promise if he wakes up when you are not here, I will instantly call you,” he says in a sincere tone.
“Okay, I will be back in an hour.” I nod my head as I look back at Donovon.
“I am going home, but don’t worry I will be back as soon as possible.” I kiss his lips and run my fingers through his hair.
Glancing at his face one more time, I walk outside the room.
“Girl, you need a shower, probably a long one.” Jenna sniffs and makes a face as she playfully nudges me, “You stink, no wonder he is still unconscious.
Rolling my eyes at her, I laugh lightly for the first time in days.
The warm shower really helped to loosen my tense muscles, even though I want to take a quick shower, but I end taking a long one.Quickly, changing into a sundress, I run the brush through my wet hair then I leave them to dry naturally as I don’t want to waste my time in blowdrying them.
When I step outside my room, Jenna is already waiting for me to come with me to the pack clinic.
While walking back to the clinic many pack members meet me and ask about Donovon’s health. They are even worried about me, which warms my heart.
I have not even take a few steps when I hold my head with my hands as suddenly I feel like extreme pressure inside my head. Unbearable pain clutches my head and it feels like it will explode any moment.
“Ivory, what’s happening?” Jenna panicked voice reaches my ears, “Are you okay?”
Clenching my eyes tightly, I grind my teeth unable to speak, as my head starts to feel dizzy while I sense Fire growling inside my head.
A sharp pain shoots in my stomach, forcing me to bend down and take the support of the wall.
Focusing on my breathing, I try to push the pain away, and slowly it fades away, but now anger consumes me.
Rage runs through my veins while a threatening growl escapes from my mouth.
“Calm down.” Jenna places her hand on my back, but instantly takes a step back when I turn to look at her.
“Your eyes...” She looks at me with an expression which is a mixture of surprise and fear, “They are glowing.”
My entire body hums with unknown force as warmth blankets every cell of my body. With each passing moment, I can feel myself getting stronger. Gradually, this new feeling settles down inside me.
Blinking, I inhale a deep breath as I straighten up.
“Ivory, what was that?” Jenna questions still shocked.
“I don’t know...” I reply, honestly, “Suddenly, I felt somebody is ripping my head apart, but then rage consumed as an unknown feeling overtook my body.”
“Wow!” She blows out a breath, “First your eyes start to glow, and then it just felt like your entire body is covering in white light.”
“I don’t understand what was all that.” I shake my head.
“Let’s not talk about this here, we will figure this out later.” She turns serious as her eyes look around, “We should head inside now.” She nods her head.
I nod my head at her in understanding as we can’t talk about all this out here in open because we don’t know who might hear us.
Maybe this also has something to do with my blessing.
“Ivory, I just got Wyatt’s mindlink-” Jenna doesn’t even complete her sentence when I rush towards Donovon’s room.
My breath hitches in my throat as tear springs to my eyes when I hear the voice which I have been dying to hear for so long.
“Where is she?”
