Wolf Bond

Donovon's POV

I wake up when the cold air touches my skin only to find that Ivory has stolen the entire blanket.

Half of the blanket is wrapped around her while the remaining is under her leg.

Raising my head, I glance at her while frowning a little as when I try to pull the blanket instead of leaving she rolls it more under her arms.

Let her sleep, you idiot!

Storm growls sleepily.

I am not waking her up, I just want the blanket.

Then sleep without it.

I sigh, shaking my head at my wolf because I know he will not hesitate to take over even if I try to touch the blanket.

You are my wolf, do I have to remind you that?

I am her Wolfie, do I have to remind you that?

His tone challenging.

Even though I feel slightly annoyed at my wolf but I know he cares for her a lot, maybe even more than me.

An instant smile lifts my lips when she curls up into my side cocooned in a blanket.

I throw my one arm around her and nearly laugh as I feel like I am hugging a fluffy ball. But when she wraps her arm around me, a small contented sigh leaves my lips while a comforting warmth encases me.

Pressing my lips to her forehead, I simply stare at the sleeping face of my mate.

This is not the first time, I am watching her sleep but this is the first time when she is sleeping in my arms as my mate.

I can't describe the protectiveness I feel for her if it was possible I would have just kept her like this, away from everything.

Storm! Do you feel her wolf?

Yes, I do, but I can't reach out to her. She seems in hibernation.

I slightly feel relieved to know that her wolf is fine. I haven't told Ivory but even I was worried about her wolf, as our wolf is really important for us. We are incomplete without them, being without our wolf makes us vulnerable.

"Alpha!" Cole mind links me.

"Everything fine?" I ask instantly because obviously there is something important that is why he is mind linking me at this hour.

"Alpha Kellar is urgently leaving for his pack with his family," Cole replies, "He wants to meet you before leaving."

"I will meet him in my office in five minutes." I close my mind link as carefully I leave the bed making sure not to wake up Ivory.

Whatever it is, it must be serious.

Quietly, I walk out of my room closing the door behind. On my way to meet James, I mind link two of my warriors to guard Ivory because I can't leave Ivory unprotected.

While I have a feeling whatever James will tell me, it will be something which I will not like.

When I enter my office, James is already waiting for me along with Cole and his beta Caleb. James is having a grave expression on his face as he paces in the room.

He stops when he notices me.

"We have captured a rogue who was trying to sneak into our pack." James clenches his jaws coming straight to the point, "Somebody has sent him after Ivory."

A loud growl erupts from chest ready to rip anyone apart who so much tried to touch a single hair on her head.

"We are heading back to our pack right now to look into this matter. Moreover, I can't risk my pack's safety so I have to be there as soon as I can." James glares at nothing in particular, "I have a feeling that whoever is after her, they are the ones who killed my uncle and aunt. And now they want her." He lowly growls.

"But why are they after her?" Coles asks the question which is even in my mind.

James and Caleb look at each other as they talk in mind link like they are contemplating whether to tell us or not.

After they have finished talking James nods his head.

"Ivory is the first girl born in our family after eight generations." James slowly starts speaking, "She is born with a blessing."

There are many questions reeling inside my mind, however, I calmly listen to him.

"Her blood is special if anyone sacrifices even a drop of her blood on Wolf Moon to the Moon Goddes then she will grant them their wish." James's face turns grim. "There might be more to her blessing but this is what we know until now."

Cole can't hide the surprise on his face after learning this information. However, the anger which I am feeling intensified as it means she is in constant danger because whoever will know about this will try to get hold of her for her blood.

"How can this be a blessing?" Cole snarls, "This is a curse." Cole clenches his fist trying to control his wolf as his wolf trying to come out because he can sense a threat on his Luna.

Every wolf is protective of their Luna and will ready to sacrifice themselves for her. In the same way, Luna can feel their pain and is protective of them as a mother to her child.

"For Ivory, this might be a curse as this keeps her life under a constant threat." James's lips roll up as his canines start to elongate while anger radiating off him, "But for others, this is a blessing because they can use her for their benefit and become powerful than anyone else."

I will not let anyone come near her. No one can touch her as long as I am alive.

Storms growls wildly inside my head already wanting the blood of the people who are after her.

"Donovon, I know I don't have to say this but still." He directly looks into my eyes as I can see his wolf making an appearance, "I expect you to keep my sister safe and never let any harm come to her. She is precious to me and I am trusting you with her."

"She is my mate, my Luna, and I will protect her even if it means sacrificing my own life," I promise James and even to myself to always keep her safe.
