Wolf Bond

Chapter 109

“What do you want for dinner?” I ask Oliver, peeking my head inside the living room where he is playing with Ella.

Since I came to my house, I am not sure if I want to go back for pack dinner but I know I will have to as it is not their mistake that their Alpha is being a jerk to me. But I will probably go there a little later so until then I don’t want Oliver to stay hungry.

When I was coming here with Ella, I heard footsteps behind us only to find Oliver following us. He makes sure he is always around Ella when we are not with her, and when he caught me going outside the packhouse with her he wanted to come with me as well.

Actually, I am glad that he came with me as somewhere he has helped me in calming my mind as children never fail to destress you with their innocence.

“Umm... food?” He looks at me innocently.

“Ollie, of course, you will have food for dinner, I am asking what do you want to eat in food?” I can’t help but smile at this innocent pup.

“Can I have chicken nuggets and fruit salad?” He looks at me hopefully.

Well, there is no way I can say no to him when he is looking at me like this.

“Of course, we do have chicken nuggets and fruits here so it won’t be a problem.” I smile at him which makes him grin happily.

When I am chopping some fruits for salad, from the corner of my eye I see him walking inside the kitchen.

“Do you want anything?” Turning my head, I ask him to which he just shakes his head in no.

“I don’t like your smile.” After standing for a few moments, he speaks, “This is not your happy smile.” The seriousness in his tone forces me to look at him.

“How do you know that I am sad?” I ask him, not bothering to deny because he will not believe me.

“Because Ella is sad.” His reply causes me to frown.

“What do you mean?” I ask still not understanding what he is trying to say.

“She can feel your happiness, sadness, and anger,” he replies with a shrug as if it is not a big deal, “Yours and Alpha's, both. I have seen her growling angrily whenever Alpha gets mad, and also I have seen her smiling whenever you laugh. So I know she can feel your emotions.”

My eyes widen as I turn my head to glance at Ella, to realize what he is saying is true. She seems to look unusually quiet, even though she is playing with a plushie but her face looks serious.

Realization draws on me, that we have given a part of our life to bring her back that’s why she is connected to us and our emotions. Our emotions reflect on her, even our pain, as I recall her crying when Donovon was being compelled because she was able to feel his pain.

Suddenly, I remember D’s word about her being special. So, what does it means that even she is born with some special powers? Merely this thought sends my heart into panic as I can’t imagine her dealing with the things which I have to witness.

Most of the parents want their child to be like them, but I never want her to be like me. My life is filled with constant danger, nothing good comes out of having any of these powers which I never asked for in the first place.

I prepare the rest of the dinner in silence as now my mind is occupied with all these thoughts, Oliver figured I am not in a mood to talk so he goes back to play with Ella.

I cover a throw blanket over Oliver and Ella as they both have fallen asleep while watching some cartoons. Well, it was Oliver who was watching and trying to explain a curious Ella what is going on.

There is something which I have noticed about him. He is always on alert, and nothing can take his attention away from Ella. No matter what he is doing, his eyes keep on checking Ella as if he is making sure she is okay. Honestly, it is really heartwarming and comforting at the same time because I know she has someone with her to protect her all the time.

I don’t know but there is something different about him. His wolf looks stronger for his age and even I can sense he already has really sharp sense of what is happening around him.

My eyes move to them and a smile forms on my lips when while sleeping Oliver slightly moves away from Ella giving her more space and the next moment she shifts into her wolf and snuggles back with Oliver. It is strange because it seems like he was aware that she’s about to shift.

I feel a nudge in my mind and I know Wolfie is trying to reach out to me. Fire has blocked our connection after informing Wolfie that we are fine and need some time alone. But when the nudge inside my mind starts to become irritating so I unwillingly open my connection as it becomes obvious to me that it is neither Wolfie nor Donovon.

I am surprised to find it's Micah. He has never tried to reach out to me like this. I am aware of him being able to read auras, he has the ability to form a connection with anyone and he can communicate to them through their mind. So, if he is trying to reach out to me, this surely means there must be something important.

"Micah?" I mindlink him, "Where are you?"

I can’t help but feel worried as it has been so many days since I have seen him. He just abruptly left without telling anything much, and since then he never contacted me.

"Are you alright?" I ask because when I had seen him last time I could sense something was not right with him.

No matter, what Donovon thinks I know Micah can’t betray me. I know him better than anyone else, so I am sure he is not the one who is after me.

"I am not okay." His voice echoes in my head, "I need your help, Ivory. Only you are the one who can save me... so please help me."

"I will help you, Micah. But first, tell me what’s wrong?" I instantly reply to him.

There are a few minutes of silence, then I hear his voice again.

"Ivory, please you have to come here and save me." He speaks again, "I can’t come to you as they have captured me, but I will try to send someone to you so you can come to me."

"But don’t tell anyone that I have contacted you because if they find out then they will kill me." He pleads and then abruptly my mind fills with silence indicating that the connection has been broken.

“Don’t worry, Micah, I will not let them kill you.” I stare at the floor, I nod my head, “Because I will kill you myself.” Slowly the corners of my lips tilt up in a cold smile.
