Chapter 107
I know it is a lot to take in, but Donovon’s silence is scaring me. He has not said a word since we have returned home, even Wolfie seems to be quiet.
D retreated allowing Donovon to come forward and took the control of his body, the moment we have stepped into the pack house. The place where D had taken us earlier, was an underground room used for storage which was inside the old packhouse which has been converted into gym.
Since we have returned, Donovon has been holed up inside his room and refused to come out for even lunch. Wanting to give him time to adjust to this truth about himself, I have not disturbed him giving him the privacy he needs.
Using this time, I tried to look for something which can help me to find out about this woman but I haven’t been successful until now. Currently, I haven’t talked to anyone about this as anyone might be helping her and I can’t take any risk. I haven’t even shared this with James, Gavin, Luca, and Jenna. Even when I know they can never betray me, not because they are under a blood oath, but also because there were numerous occasions where they have risked their lives for myself.
For now, I can just rely on my wolf, Donovon and Wolfie. I don’t completely trust this D guy, but currently we don’t have any choice other than to trust him.
Suddenly, I remember how Fire was behaving earlier, so I decided to talk to Fire because maybe we can find something which we may have missed out.
"Fire, what did you sense when you realized Wolfie needed us?" I ask her, as I remember her restless when Donovon shifted.
"Somebody was trying to separate mate from human," she answers instantly, ”Mate was fighting against their power, but he was getting weak as his strength was drained from shifting. This time I could feel the cast which was used, was to kill them."
Separating the wolf from their human means death for werewolves. As slowly after losing the wolf, the human life also ends as we are strongly connected to our wolf. It is like our life is tied with our wolves.
"Do you think it was D, who was hurting Wolfie?" I bite inside of my cheeks hoping he didn’t have any hand in it. Because him being a Donovon’s alter, I pray he has a hint of Donovon’s goodness in him even though he is almost a complete opposite of him.
"No, I don’t feel so because I felt someone trying to block them out. So maybe he’s speaking the truth that he’s helping human to fight them." She speaks after a moment, ”You know we can kick his ass his if tries to double cross us, but sadly I can tell he is not lying."
"Sadly? Why are you not glad that he is not betraying us?" A frown comes on to my face because of my weird wolf.
"Well, I would have loved to break his bones if he was deceiving us. I am just feeling a little bit sad that we will not to be able to beat him." I hear her sighing which makes me laugh.
"I think his arrogance will give us plenty of chances to fulfill your wish to beat him black and blue." I try to cheer my wolf which works as she happily howls already showing me the ways she would beat him.
I just hope Donovon don’t mind a little wrestling match of Fire and D inside his head.
Pack dinner will be in few hours and I think a few hours of peaceful sleep will help me to be able to return the enthusiasm of our pack members as everyone is extremely excited for this dinner and I don’t want to disappoint them.
Puffing out a breath while tying my hair in a bun, I walk towards our room to get my clothes and sleep in Ella's room as I don't know in what mood Donovon might be.
Quietly, I open the door, to find Donovon standing in front of the piles of clothes on the floor as he turned everything of the room upside down.
Slowly, I approach him as I look around the thrashed room.
"Donovon." I softly call him not wanting to startle him, because I am not sure he has heard me coming inside the room or not.
However, the words which leaves his mouth the next makes me stop in my tracks.
"I know who is behind all this." His cold voice reaches my ear, as he turns to look at me, while raising a piece of fabric in his hand.
