Wolf Bond

My eyes snap open while my heart thumping furiously inside my chest and I feel like I have just experienced a free fall.

Swallowing I try to moist my dry throat, and exhale a slow breath trying to gain some control over my nerves. Suddenly, my vision is blocked when Donovon’s worried face come before my eyes.

“Are you okay?” He asks holding my face in his palms, “You were unconscious and was not waking up.”

“I am fine.” I nod my head locking my eyes with him as my eyes try to search for something... or rather someone.

“I saw you talking to him then suddenly, you were gone... I was trying to reach out to you...” There is a slight twitch in his eyes, then he again repeats his words, "We were trying to reach out to you, but we couldn’t”

His words make me slightly frown however, I didn’t let this show on my face that I am finding his behaviour slightly unusual.

“What happened to you?” he asks sounding curious more than concerned, which is strange. However, I didn’t let this show on my face that I am finding his behaviour slightly unusual.

“Nothing, I just felt like somebody pulling me into the darkness...” I give him half-truth, “Then I was stuck somewhere.”

Suddenly, a dark expression crosses his face as his jaws tense like he is attempting to control his anger.

“Have they hurt you?” His voice comes out as a low angry growl while his eyes hardens.

“Who?” I ask with a frown, not clearly understanding his question.

“Has she hurt you?” He again ask for some reason seeming more furious than before.

My eyebrows raises for a fraction of a moment when I register what he has said.

"She?” I look directly into his eyes, “Who she, Donovon?”

He frowns as confusion evident in his eyes, he looks down then again he raises his eyes to meet mine.

"I am sorry what were you asking?" He clenches his eyes and shakes his head like he is clearing his mind.

Something clicks inside my mind, but I keep my expression neutral as it is just a thought and I don't want to make him conscious.

"I was just asking about whom you were talking about?" I shrug, nonchalantly, he looks even more confused.

"Where am I?" I ask realizing this is not where we were earlier.

We are currently in some room, not in the cabin where he had took me earlier.

"I don't know, when you suddenly disappeared and when even Fire was not responding I blacked out and when I woke up we were here." He looks around the room and shrugs, "I didn't want to leave your side so I haven't checked around so even I am as clueless as you."

With every moment my confusion is being cleared and my suspicion is getting confirmed.

"You don't remember anything, right?" I ask carefully.

"Yes, I don't remember anything." He narrows his eyes looking at the floor, then after thinking for a moment he again speaks, "The last thing I remember is seeing you with that guy who looked exactly like me, and then you disappeared and me trying to mindlink you."

"Something similar like this has happened before? Like you blanking out and not remembering what has happened after that?" I question him, even though my mind is already joining the dots because I know this has not happened for the first time.

"Yes, when I was influenced and whenever I tried to recall you I used to blank out but at that time, I used to hear these strange voices inside my head. However, now I haven't heard anything." He calmly explains but I can see his anxiousness in his eyes, "Are they trying to influence me again?" He asks, realizing there is something which I have figured out.

Out of nowhere these words rings in my mind and suddenly everything falls into its place. As the Donovon which I have met earlier, is not his curse, but he is a part of him.

"Let him out, Donovon." I gaze into his eyes, "Accept your curse... accept him."
