Chapter 10
Julia and Arthur live in a cozy and beautiful house. Arthur made a backyard garden for Julia as she loves gardening. However, it is their love for each other which makes their house beautiful.
"Donovon told me you have not even shifted once?" Arthur curiously asks as we all gather in their living room.
"Yes." Nodding my head, I look at Donovon then turn my attention back to Arthur.
"How is it possible? It is like going against our nature." He frowns.
"I do not know how, but I was able to control it." I shrug, clasping my hands together in my lap, feeling uncomfortable talking about it.
Stopping your shift is not easy, it is really painful and I do not like to remember the pain. Sometimes I feel my wolf understands me and helps me to deal with the pain. But there are times when something triggers her and she just wants to come out.
I have figured this through all these past years, that I have to keep my emotions in check because anything which angers me directly affects her.
"Why did not you allowed your wolf to come out yet?" Julia sits beside Arthur, her eyes having the same curiosity which is something I am used whenever someone knows I have not shifted yet.
"Because of Wolfie, I mean Storm, he did not know that I have a wolf." I momentarily glance at Donovon, "When I have met him, I did not know anything about werewolves, I was just a normal girl."
"So, all this time you have not shifted because of your fear that he will not be able to recognize you?" Julia softly smiles at me.
"Yes." I glance down at my clasped hands, "I did not want to lose my Wolfie."
When I glance up, I find Julia and Arthur looking at me affectionately while Donovon gaze has an unreadable expression.
"So, now you have found your friend." Julia nods her head in Donovon's direction, "Now will you let your wolf out?"
"Actually, no." Biting my lip I stop myself from smiling, "When I have waited so long, I want to wait a little longer."
"Why?" This time Donovon asks.
"I want to wait for my mate," I tell them, as a small shy smile forms on my face, "I want him to be with me when I shift for the first time."
I want, my every first with my mate... even if it is my first shift.
"Awww... that is so cute." Julia gushes making me blush. "And so romantic..."
"Julia, I think pups must be hungry and we should have lunch." Arthur clears his throat saving me from more embarrassment as he stands up.
"Yes, of course." Julia smiles and we all stand to follow them to the dining area.
Suddenly, our head turns to the main door as a girl barges inside.
"I am back." She opens her arms and announces while smiling widely.
The smile on Julia's face falters slightly, then again she smiles, but it is not as bright as before.
Before I can comprehend anything, I am slightly pushed away as the girl directly launches herself into Donovon's arms, who nevertheless catches her looking completely shocked.
How dare she pushed me?
"I missed you so much." She hugs him tightly, as I notice Arthur and Julia share a look.
"Hi, Emma." Julia pulls her away from Donovon, "We did not know you were returning back today." She smiles, but there is a slight annoyance in her eyes when the girl named Emma does not leave Donovon's arm.
An unsettling feeling churning inside me watching her touching Donovon, which I swallow looking away from them, adding more to my anger.
"I wanted to surprise you guys." She laughs and runs her hand through her jet black hair, "Especially, Donovon." She glances at him with a look that wants me to poke her eyes with the sharpest object I can find.
Arthur catches my eyes, and his eyes widen in an alert.
"Emma, meet Ivory she is my friend." Donovon steps away from her with a slight frown on his face, "And she is Emma."
At this moment, my ears do not like hearing the word friend...it is so small... so meaningless to define our connection which is absolutely absurd as he is my friend.
"Ivory." She gives me a little too sweet smile and pretends to look at me like she has just realized even I am in this room.
"Emma." I give her a curt nod while I can feel my wolf stirring inside me.
This is the first time since I have come here that my wolf is agitated. Otherwise, she was really calm all these days, especially when I am around Donovon she is completely quiet.
"Ivory," Donovon gently speaks, taking a step towards me, "Are you okay?"
His scent reaches my nose, and a low growl threatens to come from somewhere inside my chest as his scent is tainted. I can smell her scent on him, making my wolf stirs wildly inside me.
"Away." My voice comes out in a low warning growl as I step away from him, keeping my stare fixed at the ground as I can feel the change in my vision.
"Ivory, what happened?" He again comes closer to me and I hold my breath to stop myself from inhaling his scent.
"Gavin, come quickly at Alpha Arthur Whitmore's house and also bring Jenna with you." Ignoring him I quickly mind link Gavin, as I pray I can control my wolf which is going crazy inside me.
With each breath, growl comes from inside my chest. Moving away from them, I sit on the far end of the couch as I cover my face with my hands.
"It is her wolf, do not go near her now." I hear Arthur informing everyone, "She needs to calm down."
But ignoring his warning Donovon walks towards me and leans before me.
"Do not go near her, she can hurt you." Emma half yells as Donovon extends his hand to touch my face.
This time I can' stop the loud growl which escapes from my mouth as I glare at Emma.
I will never hurt him.
I gasp as this is the first time, my wolf has talked to me.
Another loud growl falls from my lips when Donovon touches me.
"Away," I growl loudly at him as my angry glare turns to him. Because of her smell on him, all my restraints are getting weak.
Donovon's eyes flashes as his jaws clench obviously not liking my tone.
There is a knock on the door, which is still open after Emma came, then quickly Gavin, Luca, and Jenna come to my side. Standing beside me in a protective stance.
"She wants to be out," I say through clenched teeth to Jenna as the pressure on my head increasing with each passing moment.
"Let's get you out of here." Jenna's urgent tone gets everyone's attention, she knows familiar surroundings helps me to calm down easily.
"Alpha, you come with us you might help her in calming her." Jenna looks at Donovon who is looking ready to leave.
"No." I shake my head, "Not him." Swallowing, my vision blurs with tears because of the intense pain.
"Why would he need to come to calm her?" Emma stands beside him, "She is unstable who can't even control her wolf, she is dangerous for everyone."
"Keep your mouth shut, before I decide to shut your mouth for forever," Jenna growls at her.
"I am taking her to Donovon's old room." Julia comes and helps me on my feet, "You can come with me as she will feel better around someone familiar." She tells Jenna.
"You will leave the house right now." She orders Emma when she opens her mouth to speak something.
Pained whimpers come from my mouth due to the excruciating pain running throughout my body.
They lie me down on the bed and covers me with a quilt. I can hear them talking something, but closing my eyes I focus on my breathing trying to calm myself.
A few moments later, I feel something wet on my face forcing me to open my eyes to watch Wolfie sitting in front of me. He whines and nudges me with his muzzle, making me slightly smile.
"Wolfie... it hurts... it hurts really bad." My voice chokes as I can feel the ache inside my bones.
He lets out a small whine as he sniffs my hair and then licks my hands and arms.
Then he jumps on the bed nearly making me fall from the bed, and settles beside me.
He places his large head on my shoulder and purs quietly. His warmth instantly brings comfort to my aching body and I can feel my wolf is also less irritated with his presence.
Every now and then he licks sometimes my arms and sometimes my face as if he is trying to lessen my pain and provide me some comfort which is already working as my wolf is completely at peace. Slowly, I feel my energy drowning and my eyes getting heavier to the point that sleep completely overtakes my body.
