Wiggin Academy and the Forbidden Curse

Chapter 10: Rainbow After The Rain

“Why not?” Mako questioned with complete shock of what her friend was saying.

“Our clans don’t get along,” said Penelope. “The water alchemists and fire alchemists have always been on each other’s bad side.”

Before Mako could question further a short chubby man strode through a very big door. His short curly hair was the colour of the morning sky- that covered her street on a summer morning. His silver-rimmed glasses rested on his button nose where rainbow coloured freckles laid. His small feet took him up the three steps and his lips were lifted up cheerfully. He was completely different from Professor Grimaldi, and truthfully, he seemed a lot more fun.

“Helloooo first years!!!” He announced so loudly that his voice stopped the people passing-by in the halls. “I’m so excited to be teaching fresh faces again.” And from there, another hour of what they had to do to be a grade-A student, began.

Mako and Penelope gathered their books and headed to the great hall for lunch because apparently that’s where everyone else was heading. The long-arched windows bathed the hall with warm light, the oak benches were lined up neatly for the entire school to sit back and enjoy after their classes. The tables had mountains of food lined up like the school knew they would be coming to eat, they all sat down and silently wondered what to do, when suddenly, a shadow cascaded over Mako.

“The food is for you kids.”

Mako turned and saw the raggedy white bandages, it was Bard, but he left as fast as he appeared. Mako poured some orange liquid into her clear goblet, the juice poured down her parched throat and filled her empty tummy- that she didn’t notice until now, when her gaze suddenly spotted Aiden briskly heading straight past the great hall with his head held low, she knew exactly how that felt.

Mako never sat in the canteen at her old school, but she had Penelope now, who did Aiden have?

“Penelope come on,” she said quickly pulling her legs out from underneath the bench and grabbing a few sandwiches on a piece of cloth.

“Where?” Penelope questioned with her mouth full of crisp salty chips.
