When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 58

"Lucian."

"Be good!"

Evelina, though reluctant, had no choice but to leave.

Lucian gave the school doctor before him another look. There was something about his aura that screamed he wasn't just anybody. "Where's Lemmy?" Lucian asked.

"I'm under no obligation to tell you. But she's under my watch, and I don't want you doing anything that could harm her before her exams."

"What do you mean by 'harming Lemmy'? She's my sister; I would never hurt her. You, on the other hand, a mysterious school doctor, what do you want with her?" Lucian found this doctor intriguingly odd.

Orion's gaze was icy, sharp as a blade, "That's none of your concern."

"Lemira is my sister, why wouldn't it be my concern?"

Lucian remembered how this same man had called the cops last time, forcing Alaric to move out and stay away from Lemira.

Orion, with one hand in his pocket, looked disdainfully at Lucian, "Look after your adopted sister and spare me the fake compassion."

After saying that, the elevator doors opened, and a middle-aged man stepped out.

Seeing him, Lucian quickly said, "Manager, there's a suspicious person here." He hoped to learn more about the school doctor from the manager.

The middle-aged man, upon seeing Orion, treated him with utmost respect and turned to Lucian, "Mr. Langston, our diner has closed for the night, please leave." Lucian looked at Orion, "What about him?"

"Mr. Langston, right this way, please," the manager didn't answer Lucian's question.

Escorted politely by a server into the elevator, Lucian watched Orion, who stood still, his back to Lucian. His silhouette was tall and proud.

Standing beside him, the manager slightly bowed his head, making it clear that this school doctor, Orion, was no ordinary man.

Lucian suddenly thought of Lemira. When had she gotten involved with these people?

Recalling Lemira's departing figure and her recent changes, was it this man who gave Lemira the courage to stand up to her family?

Lucian felt a headache coming on. He needed to dig into Orion's background. Otherwise, if Asher found out, well, Asher wasn't known for his patience.

He had to sort this out fast. Pulling out his phone, he found that Lemira hadn't answered his calls or texts.

Lemira watched Lucian leave, and then looked up to see Orion walking out of the elevator, his stride slow and powerful, his gaze serene, "They're gone." Lemira was amazed, "How did you manage that?"

Just moments ago, when Orion said they would leave, they did. For a second, Lemira thought Orion was bluffing, given they were in Lyria.

Orion stopped in front of her, "Just made a call to a friend."

"Your friend must be pretty influential to secure a membership here and even get the restaurant to kick people out."

Orion's tone remained even, "He's alright."

Lemira's mood lifted quite a bit, her curiosity about Orion growing, "Who is this friend?"

In Lyria, families capable of such feats were few.

Orion seemed reluctant to share, "Someone from Orvin."

"No wonder, probably a super-rich heir then."

Orvin was a hub of power and wealth, and for the past years, Asher had been building his empire there. Orvin University was the top school in Orvin. Lemira looked at him curiously, "So, how do you know such affluent people? Were you classmates or something?"

Was he really just a simple school doctor?
