When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 41

At that moment, Lemira sat in the car with Orion, her gaze drifting over the stream of vehicles around them. She couldn't help but worry aloud, "Lucian is definitely going to send people to look for me. He might even cause trouble for you at school." After all, this was Langston territory. This was precisely why she had been holding back, hoping to leave after the exam.

Lemira felt guilty for dragging Orion into her mess.

The man couldn't help but pat her head, "Don't worry, they won't find you. What you need to think about now is: where will you stay?"

Lemira sighed, "Guess I'll have to rent a place."

It's something she had thought about but never had the chance to act on. She almost wished Lucian had kicked her out earlier so she wouldn't have to worry about all it. "I know a place that's up for rent."

Lemira didn't ask any more questions and followed him to the apartment complex.

It's a nice place. As she stepped into the apartment, she couldn't help but comment on the interior, "This place must be expensive, right? I'm pretty broke at the moment!" "Money's not an issue. It belongs to a friend of mine. He's not living here anyway. You live here to help him house-sit. Technically, if we get down to it, he should be paying you."

Orion stood in front of the living room's floor-to-ceiling windows, lean and nonchalant.

Lemira couldn't help but laugh, "Is this actually your place?"

"No, mine's next door."

Lemira was momentarily taken aback, "That's quite a coincidence, isn't it?"

He smiled casually, "Otherwise, I wouldn't rest assured with you living anywhere else. After all, I'm the one who coaxed you into leaving." Lemira felt her cheeks warm up. Coaxed her? It's surprising to hear such words from someone who usually was cool and spoke so little. Orion, realizing his words might have been a bit much, quickly changed the subject, "Just stay here for now, don't worry about anything else." Lemira nodded, "Alright, but I still need to pay rent. I can sleep on the couch and won't mess up your friend's place or touch his stuff." Orion frowned, "You don't have to sleep on the couch. He's never stayed here; the guy's loaded and clueless, don't worry about it." Lemira smiled, "Then you two must be really good friends." Only true friends could talk about each other like that.

Orion glanced at the time, "How about playing some games now?"

"Sure."

Lemira followed him to the neighboring apartment and found it was identical in layout.

Orion's place seemed sparse. However, the study had two computers with pretty impressive setups.

As Lemira launched the game, she saw the homepage displaying a live game she had played earlier, with a twelve-hit combo. The title even mentioned K's protégé making a comeback.

She felt a bit guilty. After all, in her previous life, she hadn't managed the twelve-hit combo in the playoff, nor had she ever met the legend.

Orion glanced at her, "When did you learn to pull off a twelve-hit combo in the game?"

Lemira panicked. How was she supposed to explain? Could she really tell him it was something she learned in her past life?

After all, mastering K's twelve-hit combo was challenging; many had tried to replicate it from videos without success.

Lemira licked her lips, "Actually, I'm K's huge fan. I've admired him since I was little and secretly practiced his signature move. I never succeeded before, but somehow, I managed it during the competition." Orion's look was complex, "You've liked him since you were little?"

"Y-Yeah, always been a big fan, so I'm familiar with his moves."

Lemira was unsure, but it's the best explanation she had. She was indeed an admirer of the legend, so it wasn't a lie.

She sneaked a look at Orion, who seemed a bit awkward as he stiffly replied, "Don't fall for someone so easily."

Lemira was surprised, "But this is different."

After all, it was the legend K. Anyone who played the game admired him!
