Here,Sherry said, handing me the pineapple juice. Where did Mr. Jefferson go early in the morning?”

I took a sip of the freshly–made juice. “He had some work to attend to.”

She nodded her head and wandered over to Thea and Mick.

“Do you

need anything, honey?” Brielle asked, walking into the room.

“No, but thank you for the juice, Brielle.”

I prepared lunch. It’s on the dining table.”

“Okay, we’ll eat later. Are you leaving now?” I asked.

Yes, I’m done. I’ll head out now. My granddaughter must be waiting for me,” Brielle said and I laughed.

“Mick will take you home.”

“There is no need for that. I can get home,” Brielle said.

“Shh. Mick will take you home, and that is final,” I said, and she nodded.

I called Mick and asked him to bring Brielle home. Sherry played with Thea while I watched them as I leaned back comfortably.

A yawn left my mouth. Before I knew it, I fell asleep with thoughts of having a baby playing in my dreams.

I looked at Theo as he handed me the file. “What happened? How did it go?” I asked.

He sat beside me and started removing his tie.

“What is this?”

“Open it.”

I opened the file and went through the papers before finding the pictures in the back. My eyes widened, seeing Lana with a man

I went through the remaining photographs, where the man handed her something. In every photograph I saw Iris standing with–Lana.

“They got the pictures, so now what?” I asked.

“I forwarded the other set of pictures to Shantanu and Zafar. They will be preparing the file to be submitted in the courthouse.”

How did they get the photographs?”

He played with my hair. “A few years ago, Rio asked his investigator to follow Lana to find out what she was doing. The investigator worked in our tech company

The men called and got the pictures from him.”

I nodded. “But what if Lana says that was in the past? I mean, she could say that before the judge.” I say.

He sighed, tucking my hair behind my ear. “Why do you worry so much? I’ll take care of this. I don’t want you to worry about anything.”

I rolled my eyes. “How can I not? It’s about Thea, and I’m worried that she’ll be taken away from us. I don’t want that to happen. I never want to be away from her.”

He cupped my face. “I won’t allow that to happen. No one has ever touched Thea and no one will ever touch her. I’m there to protect Thea, you, and…”

His gaze went over to my stomach. “And whoever this is going to be.”

I didn’t know what he was thinking, but he didn’t remove his hand from my stomach. “Theo…”

“Yes?”

“I made my decision,” I said, looking into his eyes.

He waited for me to speak. I exhaled before taking his hand. “I want to have this baby.”

He kept looking at my face. “Are you sure? If you’re not ready for the baby, I understand. You don’t have to change your mind.”

“Shh…I know we never discussed babies, but it’s not like I never wanted them. This came as a surprise, and I was in shock when Dr. Finley said we were expecting.

“But I know you will be there and I want to be with you.”

“We will have this baby…”

I smiled, leaning closer and kissing his left cheek.

“I love you, and we will protect you. We will take care of you,” I said before kissing his lips.

He should know how much he meant to us. It’s not always him that has to protect us. Maybe we

aren’t stronger than Theo, but we can protect him, too.

I don’t want to tell anyone about the pregnancy. We can tell Talia and Christopher after the

court date.”

“As you wish,” he replied, kissing my forehead. I leaned closer to him and laid my head on his chest. He started caressing my hair while I thought about the baby and how things were going to change.

I pouted at Theo, who was getting ready for court.

Jasmine…don’t do that. You have to stay home and rest.‘

I’m completely fine. I feel good now.”

He turned his head and raised his brow at me.

Is that why you were throwing up? Jasmine, Dr. Finley advised you to rest. The courtroom is not the right environment for you. I didn’t stop you from coming, but right now when you are a bit sick…”

“Theo, please…”

“Jasmine…please stay home. Please. I don’t know how it’s going to go. I don’t want to worry about you.”

He cupped my face. “This time, listen to me and take care of your health. There will be paparazzi there; you won’t be comfortable.”

“Please understand, I have never said no to anything you asked for. But this? Your health is my primary concern.”

“You will be the first person to know what happens. I’ll call you immediately to tell you,” he said, placing his hand on my head.

“Okay, call me when the judge gives the verdict.”

“Okay. Now, Blake will be here. Stay inside. Don’t go outside or to the garden. We cannot take any risks.”

“Okay. I understand,” I said.

By the time Theo left, it was 11 in the morning. The court session would begin at 1.

“Jasmine, you should have your lunch,” Sherry said,

“Where is Thea?” I asked.

She’s playing with Mick. I’ll bring her to the dining room. Come with me.”

Okay.”

I removed my coat before walking out of the room. “Are you feeling better? What happened to you? You haven’t been feeling well,” Sherry asked.

I don’t know why my stomach is upset. I’m just tired. I’m not sick, don’t worry.”

Take care, Jasmine. It’s been a while since we sat down and had a conversation, she said.

YeahI’m feeling better now, though. We can sit down and talk. Did you guys have your lunch? You and Mick can join me for lunch,” I said when I reached the dining room.

“No, we had our lunch with the remaining staff. Maybe tomorrow we could have lunch together?”

“Okay.”

I took my seat as Brielle stepped out of the kitchen. “How are you feeling, honey?”

“Better now, but too tired to do anything.” She chuckled and placed her hand on my shoulder.

“I prepared the meal suggested by Dr. Finley. I’ll serve your plate when it’s hot,” she said, and I nodded my head.

“I’ll bring Thea over,” Sherry said.

“Okay.”

I kept my phone beside my plate and waited for Brielle. I sighed as I kept looking at my phone.

“What is happening over there? I wish I was with Theo.” I closed my eyes and leaned back in my

seat.

There was nothing that could be done now. I could only pray that the judge was fair and we won custody of Thea. Theo must have been tense and nervous, even though he didn’t show it on his

face.

He hadn’t slept the whole night. He was wandering through the room since he couldn’t sleep.

“Flower, look what I made,” I heard Thea’s voice. I opened my eyes and looked at her happy face.

She smiled brightly as she placed a paper in front of me. I looked at the drawing and chuckled.

“Did you draw this?” I asked.

Yes, do you like it?”

“I love it, honey,” I said, tracing my finger over the drawing. She had drawn a house, stick figures
