When she left, He went crazy

Christopher squinted, looked at me, smiled, and said, Try doing it that way and see what happens.7"

His smile was the same as usual, but it scared me.

It seemed that at any moment of my daring, he might swiftly snap my neck.

"Okay, I'll try," I retorted.

He chuckled, about to speak, when suddenly the phone rang.

Evelyn was the name that came to mind immediately.

My intuition was spot on. It was Evelyn, indeed.

Christopher furrowed his brows. He didn't answer; the phone kept ringing incessantly.

If he didn't want to answer the phone, he could hang up, but obviously, he wanted to.

"Chris, where did you go? Why haven't you come back yet? My baby is craving strawberry cake. Hurry up and help me get some!" The car was cramped and completely insulated from the outside noise, so Evelyn's gentle voice came through so clearly into my ears.

I swore I didn't intentionally eavesdrop.

I noted this. Christopher got out of the car and stood on the side of the road, facing me sideways.

His expression seemed somewhat mocking.

I turned my head, caring nothing about his relationship with Evelyn, and then I lowered my head to play with my phone.

They both always had this style of getting along, with constant arguments.,

Their relationship appeared strained. However, Evelyn would never truly leave while Christopher indulged her.

After a short while, about two to three minutes, he opened the door on my side. His hesitation revealed his guilt.

"Are you leaving?" I sneered. I really felt like his mistress now.

With just one phone call from Evelyn, my husband would eagerly rush to her side; she seemed more like Christopher's wife than I did. He finally said, "I'll have Donald take you back."

"No, I can wit

"No, I can get back myself."

Perhaps these past few days had been tough enough. At that moment, I felt calm and quietly got out of the car. I will

dispatch your clothes and personal items back to Moon Lake Bay. Remember to tell Donna to sign for them."

After saying that, I turned around and left.

"Hope, Christopher called out, but I ignored him, not even pausing, and walked even faster.

He caught up with me, then grabbed my wrist and said, "Hope!"

"Do you have anything else to do?" I asked as calmly as possible.

Christopher said, "Give me some time; I will solve everything regarding her."

"Solve everything regarding her?" I felt like I was hearing a joke, "Can issues regarding her really be sorted out? She was attempting suicide every day, and you had to deal with it every day."

The night wind blew cold, causing me to sniffle. "Christopher, I don't care what you and her are up to. I just hope you

spare me!"

His expression turned icy, glaring at me and coldly said, "Say it again."

"I said I don't care about what happened between you and her..."

Before I could finish my sentence, he firmly gripped my chin. The individual who had always appeared gentle and reserved in my presence abruptly transformed. He questioned sternly. "Hope Royston, do you even have a heart?"

Shouldn't I be the one to ask him this question?

I was pinched by him, tears in my eyes, but I still endured the pain, facing his gaze directly, and said loudly, "No."

Then you II have to bear with it too"

He bundled me into the car and stated icily, We couldn't get a divorce before Grandpa's birthday celebration!"

"Donald, drive! Take Mrs. Valence back. After uttering these words, he closed the car door immediately.

Donald immediately got into the car and said, "Mrs. Valence, I'm sorry."

The car door was locked, and I could only watch as Christopher walked to a nearby place and got into the bodyguard's

car.

Two cars started almost simultaneously, heading in different directions at a traffic light intersection, just like Christopher and I, who were never meant to travel together.

I sat weakly paralyzed in the chair, my mind in complete disarray.

Why did he have to do this?

Wasn't it good that I so unconditionally accommodated him and Evelyn?

Donald was driving, observing my expression, and said, "Mrs. Valence, you really didn't need to argue with Mr. Valence

like that. After all, you are Mrs. Valence; as for Evelyn, you don't need to worry too much about her."

"Donald," I lowered thear window, feeling the cold wind blowing, and said, "Don't you think that with the title of Mrs. Valence on me, I should be grateful to him?"

"I didn't mean it that way, Mrs. Valence. Please don't misunderstand. It's just that Mr. Valence is very tough, and the more you act like this, the more you lose out."

I lowered my gaze. "I didn't want to argue with him,. Donald, you may not understand; what I've always wanted was never the title of Mrs. Valence."

What I wanted was Christopher's love.

Instead of a marriage without love.

Donald said directly, "Are you after Mr. Valence's heart?"

I glanced silently out the car window, perhaps afraid of his sympathy, so I didn't respond.

Donald sighed and muttered quietly. "But Mr. Valence's heart had died long ago."

"What did you say?"

I couldn't make out his words because of the noise outside the window. "What's dead?"

Donald was taken aback, as if he had said something he shouldn't have, and hastily denied. "It's nothing."

I was a little puzzled, but I didn't press further.

Donald was Barry's nephew, growing up by Barry's side and working for Christopher for many years, rarely making mistakes when speaking.

It was really hard to get anything out of his mouth.

Donald sent me upstairs and watched me enter the house before reporting to Christopher.

1 closed the door and chuckled self-deprecatingly. My marriage was a mess. Now, even coming home was under

scrutiny.

The next day, I got up early, prepared a nutritious breakfast, ate it, and then set off for work at the company.

It seemed like Christopher and I had a relationship that had spread throughout the company. As I passed by the front desk on the first floor, they were all looking at me.

Curiosity, admiration, envy, all kinds of gazes existed.

After all, many female employees used to hold onto a glimmer of hope, believing that the news of Christopher's secret marriage was false. They even thought they still had a chance to become Mrs. Valence themselves.

With the fantasy shattered, they naturally found me displeasing.

"Hope!"

As I was about to enter the office, a voice called out to me from behind with a hint of laughter. "You know it all, right?"

I didn't even have to think to know what she was asking.

I knew she could call Christopher away with just one phone call.'

I also knew that she was pregnant.

I desired not to draw attention to myself; thus, I feigned ignorance and swiftly strode into the office.

Evelyn followed in, sat downon my office chair, crossed her legs with the hem of her skirt elegantly draped, and casually mentioned, "Chris said he would take responsibility for me." Chapter Comments
