When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 102

Josephine had barely reached the top of the stairs when the nutritionist, frowning slightly, picked up her phone and called Ethan. "Mr. Dane, I prepared a nutritious meal, but she refused to eat a single bite."

Ethan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, phone in hand, listening quietly. Behind him, a middle-aged executive in a crisp suit stood stiffly by the desk, head lowered -though his ears were clearly tuned into every word.

"What did you make?"

"Didn't I tell you not to make Western food?"

"If a salad is Western food, what isn't?"

"Focus on taste first, nutrition second. No matter how healthy it is, if she can't stomach it, it's pointless."

"Remake it. Keep the flavors sweet and mildly spicy. you can add more sugar- she has a sweet tooth. If she doesn't want bread, make some starchy pastries instead."

"If she still won't eat, just give her the cake I asked you to get."

Huh? Why were they talking about food, sweets, pastries, and cakes? Was Mr. Dane planning a kid's menu? But he didn't have any children.

All of a sudden, Ethan turned around, his sharp gaze cutting straight through the executive's nosy curiosity. The man stiffened in an instant, his spine snapping straight as he hurriedly lowered his head.

Ethan walked back to his desk and shot him a cold look. "Curious about my conversation?"

The executive forced a sheepish laugh. "Oh, no, not at all! I was just... bored, so I happened to overhear. But, you know, my hearing's terrible. So, I didn't catch a thing!"

Ethan set his phone down on the desk and replied coolly, "Even if you did, it's fine. The woman I'm trying to pursue has low blood sugar and has fainted several times already. I need to take better care of her diet. Do you have any good advice?"

Huh? Mr. Dane was... pursuing someone? The executive's eyes went wide, fike he'd just seen a

ghost. After a stunned pause, he quickly shook his head. "My whole family's struggling with high

cholesterol and crash diets, so low blood sugar is completely out of my wheelhouse."

"Is that so?" Ethan looked genuinely disappointed, his brow creasing slightly in frustration. "She's gotten so picky. I don't know how she ended up like this. She used to enjoy everything."

The way he said that... Goodness, Mr. Dane had seriously fallen for this woman. But wasn't it just a month ago-during that business dinner—that he'd declared, loud and clear, "I have zero interest in women," shocking the entire table?

So, that was all a lie? The guy who swore he was off the market... was secretly off the market for someone specific. This was breaking new

No, explosive news! He had to drop this in the group chat tonight those old fogies were going to lose their minds over this one.

Meanwhile, Josephine had just finished showering and was about to order some takeout when there was a knock on her bedroom door. "Ms. Dunn, it's me-the nutritionist. I've made some more food. Could you come take a look? Maybe you'll find something you like."

Josephine blinked, surprised. Then, she hurriedly opened the door. "Didn't I say I already ate? Why did you make more?"

She thought once she'd refused, the food would just get passed to someone else. If she'd known the nutritionist would go through the trouble of making a second round, she would've at least forced down a few bites.

The nutritionist gave a sheepish smile. "Mr. Dane said I focused too much on nutrition and not enough on taste. I'm sorry about that. I've made some comfort food this time. Won't you please give it a try?"

If Josephine turned her down again, she was pretty sure she'd be out of a job.
