What Separates Me and You

Chapter 411 Only One Bite

Lewis played with the watch on his wrist. He stared at Warren, and they locked eyes for a moment.

Then, he suddenly said, "I can't."

Warren could barely hold back his anger, but Lewis quickly added, "But I can assure you it won't exceed three days." Suppressing his urge to explode, Warren swallowed his frustration and said, "Alright, then we'll wait for your good news." With that, he looked at Damian, hinting at him to leave.

After getting back into the car, Damian finally vented his anger. "This Lewis is really arrogant. He looks down on everyone!"

Warren glanced at the rearview mirror, which reflected the manor's gate. He said solemnly, "I told you there are internal issues with the Alvarez family. It seems to be true now."

"What does that have to do with us? Their internal strife shouldn't involve our family! That's ridiculous!"

Warren said, "Don't you see Lewis has been trying to avoid dragging us into the matter? It seems someone is intentionally trying to implicate us."

Damian was stunned. "What do you mean?"

"I'm not entirely sure, but from what he said just now, it seems someone wants to frame him for something. Therefore, Quintin must be in danger now. We need to find him as soon as possible. The longer it takes, the more the odds are against him."

"It wouldn't be surprising. If something happens to Quintin ..." Warren paused and rubbed his temples where a slight headache was creeping up.

"The person behind this is not a fool. They won't directly harm Quintin. They must be observing our reaction. If we really act against Lewis, Quintin might be in real danger."

Upon hearing this, Damian understood why Warren tried to stop him from raging earlier.

He scolded himself for being too hasty and losing control of his emotions.

"In that case, let's not waste any more time. Let's go find your brother!"

Warren nodded slightly and said, "Jonas, drive."

The car started slowly and left the premises of Styx Mansion.

Meanwhile, Josephine was sulking inside the house.

Lewis had promised to take her to the amusement park, but he brought her here instead. This place was no fun at all.

Lewis leaned back on the couch emotionlessly. He appeared somewhat fatigued.

He closed his eyes and ignored Josephine.

Josephine sulked for a while, but realizing Lewis ignored her, she approached him and tugged on his sleeves.

Lewis opened his eyes and turned to look at her without uttering a word.

Josephine held onto his sleeve and stared at him pleadingly. "Let's go play."

He reached out and gently caressed her cheek. The bandage on his hand tickled her skin.

Lewis stared at her briefly before speaking, "How about I bring you to the amusement park two days later?"

Josephine shook her head. "No."

Lewis chuckled. "Can't wait, huh?"

"Yeah!"

"Let's go." Lewis stood up and led her out of the manor.

Excited, Josephine trotted behind Lewis.

They got into the car, and Lewis drove straight to the amusement park.

Due to the crowded amusement park, he held her hand the entire way.

They planned to go on a roller coaster, but once inside, Josephine kept looking around and bought plenty of stuff, including food and toys.

With a cup of coffee in one hand and a cotton candy in the other, Josephine spotted an ice cream stall.

She tugged at Lewis' sleeve and pointed to the ice cream.

Lewis tried to pull her away. "You can't eat that."

"I want it!"

"You're sick. You can't have ice cream." Lewis' tone was firm. He had no intention of buying her the ice cream.

Not sure if it was because his expression was too scary or because she was upset about not getting the ice cream, Josephine pouted. She stared straight at Lewis and was about to cry. Lewis softened his tone and patted her head, saying, "Be good. You can have it once you're feeling better."

"I want it now. Buy it for me!"

"No."

Josephine's temper flared up. She threw her coffee and cotton candy on the ground. "I want it!"

Lewis felt a headache creeping up on him.

Seeing that he still wouldn't buy it, Josephine started to cry.

Her cries drew the attention of the people around them.

Standing there, Lewis felt embarrassed for the first time in his life.

Completely losing her composure, Josephine cried on the ground, and the people around them couldn't help but laugh.

A passing five-year-old boy pointed at her and said, "That girl is crying. How shameless."

Upon hearing the boy's words, Josephine toned down slightly and averted her gaze to the boy.

Lewis squatted down. "Alright, stop crying."

Sobbing, Josephine stared at him. Obviously, she still wanted the ice cream.

Lewis stared at her for a while and finally gave in. "Alright, I'll buy it for you, but you can only have one bite." "Only one bite?" Putting on a pitiful look, she wasn't willing to agree to Lewis.

"Otherwise, I won't buy it."

"Okay, only one bite!" Afraid Lewis would change his mind, Josephine grabbed his sleeve and quickly agreed.

Lewis pulled her up, but she squatted down again to pick up her cotton candy and coffee.

Lewis took the things from her hand and threw them into the trash can. "It's dirty. We'll buy new ones." Josephine wiped the tears from her face and nodded before following him to buy the ice cream. Lewis held the ice cream in his hand to prevent her from eating too much. He let her take a bite. When she reached out to ask for more, he moved his hand away. "We agreed, just one bite." Staring at the ice cream, Josephine licked the cream around her lips and sighed.

"I thought you wanted to ride the roller coaster? Let's go."

Lewis threw away the remaining ice cream and took her hand, leading her to the roller coaster.

They finally got on the roller coaster after waiting in line for half an hour.

Josephine forgot about the ice cream and sat in her seat, eagerly waiting for the roller coaster to start.

As the roller coaster slowly started, she nervously grabbed Lewis' hand.

She screamed excitedly along with the others when the roller coaster ascended.

Lewis turned his head slightly to look at her joyful smile. The wind stirred her hair, and the strands brushed against his cheeks. The wind was so strong that it seemed to blur his vision. After one round of the roller coaster, Josephine still seemed to want more.

She pulled Lewis and pointed to the drop tower platform in the distance.

Lewis' eyelids trembled slightly.

If he didn't give her what she wanted, she would resort to her tantrums, and he wouldn't be able to deal with her.

However, while waiting in line, he received a call from the hospital. Sierra had regained consciousness.

"I got it."

With that, he put his phone back into his pocket and went up the drop tower with Josephine.

However, he had just undergone surgery two months ago.

One could imagine his condition after experiencing such high-intensity thrills.

After coming down, he leaned on the railing and clutched his stomach. His face turned pale, and beads of cold sweat were forming on his forehead.

Josephine ran over and hugged his arm. "What's wrong?"
