Chapter 410 Searching for Quintin
Mrs. Larson happened to arrive with breakfast when Josephine came out of the bathroom.
Knowing that Lewis was here, she brought two servings.
The food she brought was bland. Josephine didn't like it, so she took only a few bites. After breakfast, she had to take a bunch of medicines.
Josephine always needed to be coaxed into taking medicines. Lewis patiently promised to take her out after she finished the pills.
Once Josephine finished taking her medicines, Lewis asked Mrs. Larson to help her change her clothes. He then grabbed the divorce agreement from the table and took Josephine out of the hospital. However, Quintin was nowhere to be seen when they arrived at City Hall.
Lewis sat in the car and called Phineas.
"Where's Quintin?"
Phineas replied, "He left the mountain the day before yesterday. Isn't he at City Hall yet?"
Lewis narrowed his eyes and hung up the phone.
He dialed Quintin's number, but there was no answer.
Bored, Josephine sat in her seat. She tugged at Lewis's sleeve. "Let's go ride the roller coaster."
"Wait a minute." Lewis scrolled his phone without looking at her.
Josephine pouted and stared at him, feeling annoyed.
Lewis drove the car to the parking lot but didn't get out. He only parked his car there.
Josephine sat in the car for half an hour, and her butt began to hurt. Her patience was wearing thin.
"Liar!" She glared at the man beside her with frustration.
Lewis was on the phone, so he ignored her.
It was from Conrad. Quintin went off the grid while coming down the mountain.
Conrad said, "We checked all the surveillance cameras near the mountain, but there's no sign of him coming down."
"Although the road down from the mountain is long, it's a straight and safe route. Could Quintin be hiding in the mountains?"
Lewis tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, staring at the entrance of the City Hall not far away.
After a moment, he said, "Send someone to find him."
"I've already sent people to look for him. There are no surveillance cameras along that road. So it might be a bit challenging to locate him if he's really lost in the mountains." Lewis remained silent, his expression turning solemn.
The road up the mountain would only take a few minutes by car. Searching the whole area wouldn't take more than an hour.
Soon, Conrad called again and reported that they couldn't find Quintin.
"Chairman Alvarez, it seems like he's really missing. Could he have changed his mind and decided to hide in the mountains?" Lewis said, "Send people to search in the mountains."
"We did, but the mountain is too vast, and we're unsure if we can find him."
Lewis said coldly, "He's not a fool. Hiding won't do him any good."
"Then ..."
"I'm afraid someone is trying to set me up."
Hearing Lewis' words, Conrad was startled. He instantly understood what Lewis meant. "Is it ..."
"Find him as soon as possible."
"Understood."
Conrad dared not waste any more time and immediately sent people to search for Quintin.
If Lewis was right, then Quintin might be in grave danger.
After all, everyone knew about Quintin's conflicts with Lewis. Damian also knew that Quintin had once almost lost his life to Lewis.
If something were to happen to Quintin, Damian would definitely suspect Lewis.
Then, Lewis would have another enemy.
Although Damian was unhappy with Quintin's lack of progress, Quintin was still his flesh and blood. Not to mention Warren was not an easy person to deal with. He loved his brother a fortune, and if anything were to happen to Quintin, he would never let Lewis go.
The day before yesterday, many people in the shopping mall witnessed Lewis taking Quintin away. Now, Quintin had disappeared on his way down the mountain. No doubt, people would point fingers at Lewis. Kiran must have seen the opportunity and harmed Quintin without anyone noticing.
Phineas was also regretting deeply. Things wouldn't have escalated to this extent if he agreed to send Quintin down the mountain.
He had caused trouble again.
Thankfully, he had kept Quintin's jacket from yesterday. Grabbing Quintin's clothes, he brought a search dog and departed to look for Quintin.
Meanwhile, Josephine kept pestering Lewis to take her to the amusement park.
Yet Lewis drove straight back to Styx Mansion because Mrs. Larson called to inform him that the people from the Fowler family had come to visit. When they arrived at Styx Mansion, they saw three luxury cars parked at the entrance.
Lewis got out of the car and took Josephine with him as they entered.
Damian and Warren were sitting in the living room. Mrs. Larson was serving them.
"Mr. Alvarez, you're back!" Mrs. Larson sighed with relief when she saw him return.
Damian immediately stood up and strode toward Lewis. "Chairman Alvarez, you're finally back. We've been waiting for a while."
His tone was polite, but the suppressed anger on his face was still evident.
Lewis said, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? Sorry to keep you waiting."
Before Damian could speak, Warren stepped forward and said, "We're sorry for the sudden visit, Mr. Alvarez. We should've informed you beforehand."
"You took Quintin away two days ago, but we haven't heard from him since. We want to know where he is now."
In other words, they were here to take Quintin back.
Lewis walked inside and sat on the sofa.
Looking at his calm appearance, Damian felt his anger rise even more. He was almost losing control.
After Lewis sat down, he finally spoke, "I did take him away, but I don't know where he is now."
Warren said, "My younger brother can be mischievous. If he has offended you in any way, I apologize on his behalf. I hope you can forgive him and not hold him accountable for his actions." "Although he often angers our father, he is still a member of the Fowler family. If anything happens to him, I'm afraid we won't be able to explain it to our ancestors."
Warren's tone was more polite than Damian, but his words were laced with a strong sense of threat.
He was trying to convey that while the Fowler family didn't want to be enemies with the Alvarez family, it didn't mean they were not capable of retaliation.
Lewis calmly looked at him, and after Warren finished speaking, he suddenly smiled.
"Why are you smiling, Mr. Lewis?"
"Mr. Warren, if I wanted to kill Quintin, do you think he would still be alive now?"
Warren frowned.
Lewis continued, "However, I admit he disappeared after seeing me. I have already sent people to search for him. Don't worry. I will provide you with an answer regarding this matter." Damian interjected, "We don't just want an answer. I want my son back, alive and well!"
"I will find him, that's for sure. But as for whether he will be alive or not, I cannot guarantee that."
"You ..."
Lewis interrupted him, "Mr. Fowler, I believe you're well aware that your son has repeatedly gone against me. I warned you before to keep him in check. Now that he's missing, the responsibility lies with you, not me. I promised to help you find him, and that's already going above and beyond. If you insist on blaming me for this, I have nothing more to say."
Damian's face turned red with anger when he heard this.
Warren remained relatively calm. He stepped forward and said, "Alright, since you put it this way, we believe his disappearance has nothing to do with you. As for the answer you mentioned, can you give us a specific timeframe?"
