Chapter 364 Get Out
Sitting in the car, Conrad felt a chill run down his spine. He gulped nervously, fearing Lewis might lose control and do something outrageous.
In a teasing tone, he said, "C-Chairman Alvarez, I actually have an idea."
Lewis looked away from the Volkswagen in front and stared coldly at Conrad. It was as if he would leave Conrad behind on the mountain if the man said something wrong. "Speak."
Conrad wiped the cold sweat off his forehead and awkwardly said, "Well, um, Mrs. Alvarez has lost her memory now. She doesn't recognize anyone. She trusts Quintin because he's made an impression on her. I think you should also leave a positive impression on Mrs. Alvarez. It'll be easier to bring her home if she doesn't resist you."
Conrad hit the nail on the head. If it weren't for Lewis barging into Quintin's house and doing all sorts of things that ruined his image, Josephine wouldn't have developed such a strong aversion toward him. In the end, Lewis had it coming to him. It wasn't certain if it was his overconfidence or his habit of being decisive and forceful that led to this situation.
Remaining silent, Lewis stared at Conrad. He didn't refute or scold Conrad, indicating that he accepted the suggestion.
Hence, mustering his courage, Conrad continued, "Since our first encounter left a bad impression on Mrs. Alvarez, we can't continue with our previous approach. We need to slowly improve our image now." Lewis glanced once more at the Volkswagen, which had disappeared around the corner.
"Follow them." His tone had softened considerably.
Conrad felt a wave of relief wash over him. It seemed that Lewis had taken his advice to heart. That was great.
Josephine would only become more afraid of Lewis if they continued their previous approach. If things continued like this, Lewis might never be able to win her back.
In the past, he relied on the fact that Josephine couldn't live without him and did as he pleased. However, Josephine was legally married to Quintin and only had her eyes on him now.
What else did he have up his sleeve?
Conrad wanted to laugh at Lewis if he could but didn't have the courage. After all, he wasn't Seth.
While secretly mocking Lewis, Conrad started the car.
The cars behind them were getting impatient. Before the engine could even start, someone knocked on the window.
Conrad turned his head and saw a man outside.
Lewis lowered the car window, his expression devoid of emotion as he looked outside. The man was visibly angry, and he hunched his back. "Hey, what are you guys doing? Why aren't you moving?!" Lewis casually glanced at the man, his tone indifferent. "If we don't want to leave, we won't. Is there a reason why we should?"
The man was already irritated, and Lewis' words ignited his anger even more. He exclaimed, "Is this road yours? You think you're so great, huh? You fucking idiot!"
While emitting a dangerous aura, Lewis narrowed his eyes.
"Oh, looks like you're not happy with what I said. Get out of the car if you have the guts!"
Eventually, Lewis got out of the car.
"You little..."
The man was about to speak, but Lewis grabbed his neck and forcefully pushed him backward.
The man stumbled back a few steps until his back was against the guardrail of the cliff. Only then did he react.
Enraged, the man raised his hand to strike Lewis in the face.
However, before his punch could land, Lewis tightened his grip on the man's neck, causing his vision to darken. Half of his body hung over the guardrail.
"I'm out of the car now. So what?" Lewis coldly stared at him.
The man desperately clung to the guardrail, afraid to let go as he would fall off if he did.
His face turned red, and he struggled to wait for Lewis' next move. As he was being suffocated, he couldn't utter a word.
Compared to the man's pitiful state, Lewis remained eerily composed. Not to mention he was only using one hand while the other was casually tucked into his pocket. It seemed like he was not pushing someone off a cliff but rather standing by the guardrail, enjoying the view.
Conrad, who was witnessing the whole situation, was scared out of his wits. He silently mocked the unlucky fellow who happened to provoke Lewis when his mood was at its worst.
"Daddy!" Suddenly, a girl of about five or six years old rushed forward. She grabbed Lewis' coat and cried, begging him to let go of her father.
A woman cried out too, "We're sorry, young man. It's our fault. Please, please let him go! He could die!"
Despite Lewis' calm demeanor, his grip was powerful. The man's face had already turned red to purple, and his eyes rolled back.
Once the man's grip on the guardrail loosened, he would undoubtedly fall off the cliff and meet an untimely demise.
"Daddy! Let go of my daddy. Boo-hoo..." The little girl swung Lewis' coat with one hand and wiped away her tears with the other. She looked both fierce and pitiful.
Lewis looked down at the little girl and got was momentarily distracted.
Conrad also exited the car and approached Lewis before whispering, "Chairman Alvarez, let's not waste our time on such a small matter. Don't waste your time on such a person. If we delay any longer, Mrs. Alvarez might already be in a room with Quintin!"
Lewis suddenly turned to look at him, his eyes as sharp as knives, as if he could kill.
Conrad shrunk back, no longer daring to speak.
Fortunately, Lewis let go of the man. "Consider yourself lucky."
The man fell onto the ground, gasping for air and coughing heavily.
His daughter ran up to him while weeping loudly. The family huddled on the ground, devastated and heartbroken.
The onlookers who wanted to confront Lewis gave up on their thoughts. No one dared to approach such a terrifying madman.
The man didn't expect Lewis to be so crazy, and the close call had left him trembling with fear. His heart felt as if it would burst from his chest.
Lewis glanced at the little girl on the ground before turning away and getting back into his car.
Not daring to waste any more time, Conrad quickly drove away. Quintin and Josephine were probably already getting out of their car by now.
Quintin had arrived at the parking lot outside the resort, which was surprisingly crowded.
He parked the car and took Josephine's hand, ready to take her shopping for some new clothes.
Josephine followed him, her eyes filled with curiosity as she took in the variety of food and entertainment options around them.
She tugged on Quintin's hand and pointed to a glowing rabbit headband nearby.
Quintin wasted no time and bought the rabbit headband for her. He placed it on her head, and it complemented her bunny-themed pajamas perfectly.
Josephine made a V pose next to her ear, signaling Quintin to take a photo.
Smiling, Quintin took out his phone to snap a photo of Josephine.
Then, he continued to lead her along, and soon enough, she spotted a hat, gloves, a scarf, and various quirky items that caught her attention. Before long, Quintin found himself carrying a bunch of little things. Then, they bought a toy drum, cotton candy, a bubble machine, and a paper umbrella.
Quintin wiped the sweat off his forehead, realizing that all the things they bought were things that children would enjoy.
After purchasing all the items, they finally arrived at the clothing store. Quintin placed the things on the store's sofa and went to help Josephine choose some clothes.
However, right after he got up, two kids approached and took some of Josephine's toys from the sofa.
Josephine noticed this and became upset. She furrowed her brows and ran over to snatch the items back from the children.
The kids refused to give them back, and a struggle ensued. Frustrated, one of the kids angrily bit Josephine's wrist.
