What Separates Me and You

Chapter 363 Chasing After His Wife

His action startled everyone in the conference room. Even Seth was shocked.

Everybody directed their gazes to him as they witnessed the rare display of emotion on his typically impassive face, which was now dark and filled with a terrifying aura. It was as if he were ready to kill. Seth raised an eyebrow and spoke with a half-smile, "Chairman Alvarez, is there a problem with my presentation?"

Lewis' fingers tightened around his phone so hard that the others could hear his fingers crack. After a moment, he grabbed his coat and silently left the conference room.

Seeing this, Conrad hurriedly chased after him.

He left the entire conference room in a state of confusion, with everyone exchanging bewildered glances.

"Mr. Fairchild, should we continue the meeting?" someone asked.

Seth replied, "Yes, why not? We're all here. Let's proceed."

Lewis wanted to undermine Kiran's authority while he was injured. That was why he called for this meeting.

What did Seth have to do with him chasing after his wife?

After arriving at the parking lot, Lewis opened the car door and got in.

Conrad seemed to know what he was up to, so he didn't waste any time with small talk. He started the car and drove toward the vacation resort.

Meanwhile, at the service area, Josephine received the roasted sweet potatoes and corn Quintin had bought her. She held the food and happily enjoyed it, oblivious to what was happening to Lewis. "Is it good?" Smiling, Quintin stared at her.

Josephine nodded while gnawing on the corn. She devoured everything, leaving no kernels on the cob.

Quintin held the sweet potato in his hands. He waited for Josephine to finish the corn before handing her the sweet potato. He even peeled off the skin for her beforehand.

"You can't eat the skin of this sweet potato, so be careful not to bite into it."

Josephine nodded and caught a whiff of the fragrant sweet potato. She eagerly took it and started gnawing, dirtying her lips with sweet potato.

Quintin found her appearance amusing and used a tissue to wipe her mouth.

After a while, he asked Josephine, "Do you have a mobile phone?"

Indulged in the sweet potato, Josephine couldn't sign with her hands. Instead, she gestured that her phone was in the pocket of her pajamas. Quintin took her phone from her pocket and instructed her to stay in the car and eat while he left to make a phone call.

With Josephine's phone in his hand, Quintin got out of the car and called Warren, wanting to ask him for financial support.

"You've spent fifty thousand dollars in one day?"

Quintin scratched his head and answered sheepishly, "Well, you see, I'm planning to go to Pearl Lodge, so please transfer some money to me." "And you're taking Josephine with you? Does Lewis know?"

"Gosh, why do you have so many questions? Just transfer the money to me quickly. I'm on the highway right now and will be there soon."

"Isn't your card suspended? How am I supposed to transfer money to you?"

"I'll give you Josephine's PayPal, and you can transfer the money to her."

Warren sighed in exasperation. Although he didn't want to stand by and let Quintin continue his reckless behavior, he couldn't say no when his younger brother asked for help.

After Quintin sent him Josephine's PayPal account number, Warren transferred two hundred thousand dollars to that account.

He had been to Pearl Lodge before, and two hundred thousand dollars would be enough for them to have fun there for about ten days.

After receiving the money, Quintin finally felt relieved. Now, he didn't have to worry about running out of money.

He returned to the car, and Josephine had finished eating her sweet potato. Fingers and mouth covered in yellowish sweet potato residue, she was licking her fingers.

The corners of Quintin's mouth twitched, and he took out a wet tissue from his pocket before grabbing her hands to wipe them clean.

"You haven't washed your hands yet. Don't lick them. What if you get sick?"

As he spoke, he cleaned her hands and mouth.

Josephine sat obediently in her seat, her eyes wide open. Hearing his words, she grinned at him.

Quintin had never taken care of children, so he seemed somewhat clumsy and cautious.

After wiping her hands clean, he couldn't help but pinch her cheek and grin. "Are you full? Go back to sleep. We still have a little while before we arrive."

Nodding, Josephine rubbed her stomach and obediently went back to sleep.

Quintin covered her with his jacket and drove the car out of the service area before heading toward Pearl Lodge.

The road up the mountain was slightly bumpy, but Josephine slept through the journey. By the time they arrived, she had caught up on all the sleep she had missed in the past two days.

Quintin woke Josephine up. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the brightly lit scene ahead, her mouth wide open in astonishment.

From their current position, the area resembled a small town surrounded by mountains. It was bustling, bright, and beautiful. There were even sky lanterns floating in the sky, creating a dreamlike and ethereal scene. It seemed too beautiful to be true.

Josephine eagerly reached for the car door to get out, but Quintin stopped her.

"Hey, let's not get out yet. We haven't arrived. Let's enjoy the scenery from here first." Quintin followed a guide and took this mountain road, which allowed them to enjoy the night scene of Pearl Lodge. Although they were on the mountain, they could faintly hear the lively sounds coming from below.

This place was called Pearl Lodge. Besides the resort itself, there were other industries here. It used to be a village, but after the developers opened the resort, the surrounding commercial areas flourished too Hence, Pearl Lodge was only a name. In fact, it was no different from the commercial areas down the mountain.

What made it different from the commercial areas in the city was the fresh air and pristine environment. Driving was no longer allowed once they entered the resort, and they had to walk. All motor vehicles, including bicycles, were prohibited from entering the town.

The buildings were retro-inspired. Hence, Pearl Lodge was also called the Ancient Town.

Quintin retrieved his phone and took a panoramic photo of the resort below.

He asked Josephine, "Do you want to take a photo?"

Josephine nodded eagerly.

Quintin wanted to take a photo in the car, but it wasn't easy, so he asked Josephine to come out.

He held Josephine's hand and stood by the railing at the cliff with their backs facing the night view below. They pressed their faces together and took a photo.

"Is it beautiful?" Quintin showed the photo to Josephine.

Looking at the photo, Josephine opened her mouth in astonishment.

The photo was beautiful. Behind them was a brightly lit town, and above them were numerous sky lanterns. With the flash, their faces looked fair.

Josephine held the phone and stared at the photo for quite a while before returning it to Quintin.

She pulled him along to continue taking photos.

Quintin laughed and took several more photos. Then, he took numerous solo shots of Josephine.

"Okay, let's go down now." Quintin handed her the phone, and Josephine nodded, pressing her head against his as they returned to the car.

The two were immersed in the fun and didn't notice a car parked not far away. The person inside the car was staring intently at them. The Bentley blocked the middle of the road, causing a traffic jam behind it. The other drivers were honking their horns frantically.
