Chapter Warming 58

Chapter 58

At 7:30 pm, Lucille returned to Orchidstone Garden after dropping off Bailey.

When she opened the door, she was surprised to find the lights on. It wasn’t the lights that shocked her, though.

She stood in the doorway, staring in disbelief at the furniture and decorations. They looked nothing like they had when she’d left that morning.

She knew she hadn’t gone to the wrong floor. Orchidstone Garden’s apartments were limited to one unit per floor, so there was no way she could’ve gone to the wrong one.

“You’re back?” asked Spencer, appearing before her in casual loungewear.

Lucille stared at the dashing man before her, blinking her eyes as she asked, “You changed everything?”

Spencer nodded. “Yes, doesn’t it feel more like home now?”

Lucille was speechless.

Then, she noticed that the only guest room had been converted into a study.

“You turned the guest room into a study?” Lucille asked, staring at Spencer.

“Yes.”

“So, are you going to sleep on the couch?” she asked earnestly, not considering the possibility of him sleeping in her room.

Spencer asked back, “Do you think I would sleep on the couch?”

Lucille instinctively shook her head. Given his noble background, it was unlikely he would ever lower himself to sleep on a couch.

“Then why did you convert the guest room?“.

Spencer’s deep, dark eyes locked on hers. He didn’t say anything. It was clear she hadn’t considered letting him sleep in her room.

If he hadn’t anticipated this, he probably would’ve ended up sleeping in the guest room. But there was no way he’d settle for that. With his legal wife right there, there was no reason for them to sleep separately.

Spencer crossed his arms and took a deep breath. He raised an eyebrow and narrowed his eyes, then reminded her, “Sweetie, did you forget we are legally married?” He emphasized the word “legally“.

Once again, Lucille’s mind was blown.

He wanted to sleep in the same bed with her?

Lucille stared at Spencer, her lips parting slightly in shock. She licked her lips nervously and swallowed, then pressed her lips tightly together.

Spencer noticed her subconscious gestures, and a fierce desire flared in his dark eyes.

His words left her unable to refute the situation. It was a done deal.

She wasn’t even sure how she made it back to her room. Inside, she saw her walk–in closet had been split into two sections–one for her and one for Spencer.

The sudden invasion left her struggling to process everything. She had hoped they could live together in separate rooms so that she could have time to adjust. But now, there was no time to adapt.

She felt like a soldier thrown onto the battlefield on the second day of training.

Spencer’s words had left her with no room for argument. They were legally married and had expressed their feelings for each other. Living together was inevitable, and whether it happened sooner or later didn’t matter.

She did care for him, but…

Feeling agitated, she grabbed her pajamas and went into the bathroom. Seeing all the men’s toiletries added to her anxiety. She couldn’t describe the mix of anticipation and fear she felt.

After a scalding hot shower, she felt a bit more relaxed. She decided to accept the situation.
