Chapter Warming 48

Chapter 48

Ms. Johnson, every batch of perfume we produce follows your exact formula and undergoes strict testing. There are absolutely no issues,” said Kenneth Wright, the manager of the lab.

Lucille already knew there were no problems. After all, she had carefully selected the team at the lab.

“Yes, I know,” she said calmly.

Samuel and Kenneth were puzzled. What did she mean by she knew?

“Ms. Johnson, do you mean the problem lies with the victims?” Samuel was the first to catch on.

Kenneth also understood and, with a look of sudden realization, said, “Yes, that’s it. If it was an issue with our products, there would be more than just a few victims, and it wouldn’t be so sudden. There must be someone behind this.”

Lucille turned to Samuel and asked, “Did you find them?”

Just then, one of the secretaries, Monica Lawrence, came in. She said, “Ms. Johnson, the people Mr. Sawyer asked us to find are here. They’re waiting in the conference room.”

Lucille propped her chin with one hand, pondering for a few seconds before saying, “Let’s go. We need to question these brainless women.”

In the conference room, five women wearing masks were seated together.

Lucille naturally carried a strong presence. As she entered, the five women couldn’t help but feel nervous.

“Let me introduce myself. I’m Lucille Johnson, CEO of Star&Ciel Group.” Lucille sat across from them, with Samuel, Kenneth, and Monica standing behind her.

The five women hadn’t expected the person sitting across from them to be the CEO.

It was the first time they had seen Lucille. They were taken aback to discover that the CEO of Star&Ciel Group was a breathtakingly beautiful woman with a queenly presence. Yet, her strong, commanding demeanor made them feel an invisible pressure.

A short–haired woman bravely spoke up, “Your company’s product ruined our faces. You must compensate us.”

Her courageous act inspired the rest, and another woman chimed in, “Yes, you need to compensate us. Look at what your perfume has done to us. Our skin is red and swollen all over.”

They removed their masks and rolled up their sleeves to show the rashes.

Lucille and her team looked at their damaged skin. It was indeed quite severe.

But after a moment of silence from Lucille’s side, the five started to panic.

Trembling, one of them asked, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Lucille glanced at them with a faint smile and said coldly, “I’m just waiting for you to finish. Are you done?”

“We… we’re done.”

“Are you sure?” Lucille narrowed her eyes.

The five women felt an icy fear as they looked into Lucille’s eyes. She was stunningly beautiful but also intimidatingly cold.

Lucille leaned back lazily in her chair with her legs crossed. One hand rested on the table in front of her as her slender fingers drummed on the smooth mahogany surface.

The steady rhythm of her tapping seemed to reverberate in the hearts of the five women, adding to their sense of guilt and fear.

Lucille observed them, a slight smile playing on her lips. They were so easily frightened.

Her cold, indifferent voice broke the silence. “Alright, since you’re done, it’s my turn now.”

She paused, looking at each of them before continuing, “Do you want to resolve this here, or should we go to the police?”

The five women looked at Lucille in fear and confusion.
