Chapter Warming 23

Chapter 23

Before leaving, Charles added, “Ms. Johnson, the Sanders Corporation is sincere in wanting to collaborate with the Star&Ciel Group.”

Lucille gave him a meaningful look. “Alright.”

After showing Charles to the door, Samuel came to the office.

The first thing Lucille said was, “Find out who leaked the information about the research and development of Shooting Star!”

Samuel was taken aback. He hadn’t been in the room earlier, so he didn’t know what had happened. However, from the look on Lucille’s face, he could guess what happened.

“Yes, I’ll do it at once.”

Shooting Star was Star&Ciel’s newly developed reed diffuser. It had yet to be made known to the public and was still considered top secret.

The Star&Ciel Group was planning to enter the reed diffuser market and had begun preparations a year ago. Not many people knew about this, so she was surprised that the news had reached Charles.

Half an hour later, Samuel returned with his findings. “Ms. Johnson, one of the executives from the Research and Development Department was behind the leak. I’ve already asked Human Resources to

send him a termination letter.”

Samuel’s efficiency had always impressed Lucille.

“Alright.” Lucille fell silent for a moment. She was deep in thought. Then, she said, “One more thing. Find out why the Sanders Corporation is ending their partnership with their original reed diffuser supplier.” 1

“Yes, Ms. Johnson,” Samuel said.

After he left the room, Lucille’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID, and the sharp, cold look instantly disappeared from her gaze. Her tense facial muscles also softened. “Hello?” she said as she picked up.

“Are you done with work?” Spencer’s warm and low voice trickled into her ear like a gentle stream. It set off ripples inside her heart.

Lucille didn’t even know she had so many weaknesses. Not only was she weak for men with handsome faces, but she was also susceptible to gorgeous hands and deep voices. And, the man on

the phone was all of those things.

“Yes, I just wrapped things up,” she replied. Then, she added nervously, “What about you?”

“Yes, same here,” Spencer said.

“Then are we having dinner at home tonight?” she asked without thinking.

Immediately after, she heard a carefree and melodious laugh over the phone. Confused, she

wondered what he was laughing about.

Had she said something funny?

In the midst of her puzzlement, she heard Spencer’s angelic voice again. “I’ll take you out for dinner tonight to meet some of my good friends. Does that sound good?”

He was always like this. He would always ask for her opinion first.

“Sure.”

“In that case, I’ll come pick you up in a moment. Wait for me at the office.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up, she belatedly understood why Spencer had laughed earlier.

Unbeknownst to herself, she had already begun treating her home as theirs.

Although they were already legally married, they had never lived together before. She never mentioned it, and he tacitly didn’t either.

She hadn’t gotten used to the idea yet, and he knew that very well.

Actually, in the past half month, she was slowly beginning to accept Spencer worming his way into her life. With that, her anxiety lessened too.

It was because he was truly a kind man. That was why she couldn’t refuse or resist him.

Half an hour later, he came to pick her up. Then, he took her to the Zaytun Pavilion.

At that moment, the men were already sitting in the Kingston Room.

Spencer and Lucille stepped out of the elevator. When they turned a corner in the corridor, they ran into a woman in a white blouse, who seemed to be in a hurry.

Fortunately, Spencer had wrapped his arm around her waist, so Lucille didn’t trip.

Are you alright?” Lucille quickly helped the woman up.

The woman in white seemed to be in a rush. She lowered her head and said in a rush, “Thanks. I’m fine.” Then, she ran off.

Lucille gave her a perplexed look but said nothing. The two of them continued to make their way to the Kingston Room.
