Chapter Warming 21

Chapter 21

Sabrina hated hearing Lucille speak to her in such an arrogant tone, but she remembered the reason why she was calling today. “Lucille, it seems like you were wise enough to break off the engagement,” she said mockingly.

Lucille answered indifferently, “Even if I did break off the engagement, do you dare to go public?”

Sabrina instantly flew into a rage. Because of that Twitter post about her infidelity, she couldn’t announce her relationship with Harold yet.

“You’re despicable!” she yelled. Then, her tone turned gloating. “So what? As long as Harry loves me, that’s enough. Meanwhile, you’ll never ever win his affection.”

Lucille scoffed uncaringly. “If you’re calling to brag about your shameful affair, then please hang up!” she said coldly.

When Sabrina heard that Lucille wanted to hang up, she immediately said, “Grandpa asked you to return to the Johnson residence. There’s something he wants to tell you.”

“I’m not going! Just tell it to me straight!” Lucille said adamantly.

Sabrina was infuriated. “How dare you disobey Grandpa’s orders?

“Heh, don’t tell me you drowned your brain cells in the lake the other day,” Lucille said with a cold laugh. “This isn’t the first time I’m disobeying him.”

“You…” Sabrina gritted her teeth. She wouldn’t even be this mad if Lucille hadn’t mentioned the lake. It made her remember that night at the hospital.

“If you’re not going to tell me, I’m hanging up!”

“Wait, I’ll tell you!” Sabrina shouted hurriedly.

Lucille smirked. Sabrina was still no match for her.

She stayed quiet and waited for the latter to speak.

Sabrina didn’t beat around the bush either. “There are two things. Firstly, on the 28th, you must take part in the piano recital hosted by the Everetts. Secondly, Grandpa wants you to give up your shares in

the Johnson Group.”

When she didn’t hear a peep from the other end of the line, she thought that Lucille had already hung up. But when she checked her screen, the call was still ongoing.

“Hey!” she shouted brashly.

Lucille’s icy voice came over the phone. “He wants the shares? When he’s on his last breath, I can selflessly give it up to him!”

Sabrina was shocked that Lucille would utter those rebellious words. “Lucille, how could you curse Grandpa like that? You–you’re sick in the head. They’re just shares. Did you have to go that far?

Lucille hummed. “They’re just shares? Then why are you rushing to take my shares?

Of course, she knew that Sabrina wanted her shares in the Johnson Group. She continued asking, ” You want to bring the Johnson Group shares into your marriage into the Quall family, don’t you? Then, no one will be able to dethrone you from the position of Mrs. Quall, am I right?”

Sabrina’s heart skipped a beat. Her little scheme had been discerned just like that. Nonetheless, she didn’t bother to put on a facade in front of Lucille.

Sabrina simply snarled in a jealous tone, “No matter what, our family assets belong to me, and so does the role of Mrs. Quall. What

ght do you have to hog the Johnson Group shares?

“If I don’t have the right, then who does? You, the daughter of a mistress?” Lucille mocked in a cold voice. She was sitting in her office, and she spun around in her office chair to face the floor–to–ceiling windows.

When Sabrina heard that, her eyes immediately clouded over with hatred and ice. Her breathing grew rough. “Lucille, don’t regret this. I’ve already given you the message.

“If you don’t want your reputation to be tarnished again, you shouldn’t continue acting so arrogant and stubborn!” she said. She could only respond with a threatening warning.

Lucille wasn’t going to fall for it. “Do you think I care?” she said nonchalantly.

Suddenly, something popped into her head. A sly smile decorated her face. “Instead of worrying about me, you should worry about yourself!”

Sabrina had a bad feeling about it. “What do you mean?” she asked.

“Have you found your sheet music?” Lucille said with a laugh.

Sabrina was at a loss for words. Before she could retort, she heard the dial tone from the other end.

That bitch Lucille had hung up the phone.

At the Johnson residence, Sabrina let out a furious roar. “Lucille, you witch, I’m going to stomp you into the ground one day!”

If there was anyone in the vicinity right now, they would see that the typically gentle and elegant Sabrina was now wearing a venomous and ferocious expression.

On the other hand, in the CEO’s office of the Star&Ciel Group, Lucille was sitting behind her desk with her long legs crossed. The hand holding her phone rested on the armrest while her other hand cupped her chin. She raised her head slightly and looked out the window thoughtfully..

It was now 4:00 pm. Even though it was still bright outside, it wasn’t blindingly so. On the contrary, it was relaxing for her eyes. The warm orange hue across the horizon made her feel warm on the inside.

Not long after, someone knocked on her door. (

“Come in!”

After receiving permission, the knocker pushed open the door.

Lucille spun her chair around to see Samuel standing before her desk. He said, “Ms. Johnson, Mr.

Sanders of the Sanders Corporation is here.”

“Charles Sanders?” Lucille raised her eyebrows slightly.

“Yes,” Samuel replied.
