I only waited 36 seconds before pushing my way to the back door behind the bar. I avoided the guards and tried to get down the hallway as quick as possible without someone noticing.

68 seconds since she left my sight.

Knox is barking something to the others, but I blocked them out trying to find Onyx’s scent.

But the damn humans put on so much perfume that I can’t smell shit.

I have to get away from them.

I go down a quieter hallway with a lot less humans and the minute I do is the exact minute I catch her scent.

Shadow paces, “We got to find her before something-”

A scream cuts Shadow off.

Shadow freezes and whispers, “No”

My heart freezes with him.

I know I turned pale when Knox asks me if I’m alright

Knox and the others can’t hear the screams because…

Onyx isn’t the one screaming, Mika is.

Shadow jumps into the driver seat with me and together we ran towards Onyx’s scent and Mika’s heart shattering screams.

That night I learned how long it took to make a flower wilt.

108 seconds the screams got louder

112 I get to the last door to the right and kicked it in making it slam against the wall.

113 my mate is scared and trying to hide from the fuckers

115 both men are under my fists screaming in pain and begging me to stop

155 Knox and Zack mange to get me away from them.

156 a cry breaks me out of the bloodlust

157 Rose backs her way into a corner and tries to make herself as small as possible

158 I walk to her slowly and sit in front of her and wait for her to look at me

160 she looks up at me shakily and I see my little Rose scared, hurt, cracked and wilting.

My heart cracks when she looks more scared of me then of the targets.

It shatters when Shadow tells me that Mika is blocking him because of how scared she is.

It’s completely obliterated when she silently cries and is determined to try to make herself blend into the wall.

I didn’t realize the tears streaming down my face until Knox gently touched my shoulder.

I look at him slightly

“Be careful with her, Demon. Link and Sage are giving the guards the run around for a while until we leave. They won’t remember Onyx being with them after the chase. We’ll be waiting for you both in the van about two blocks over.”

I nod and watch Knox close the door quickly and quietly.

I take a few deep breathes, catching a small scent of blood coming from Onyx.

She whimpers when I look at her from the corner of my eye and digs her nails deeper into her palms.

I feel sick at the thought of Onyx thinking that I’m a monster like the others.

The tears keep falling when I face her completely and take notice of everything on and around her.

I try to swallow the bail in my mouth as I see the dress she was wearing ripped and messed up.

I look down at her bare feet causing her whimpers and scoots her feet closer to herself.

Shadow nudges a thought to me and I nod to him.

I slowly take off my jacket and flinch when she whimpers.

I put my jacket on the ugly wooden floor and scoot it closer to her before putting both of my hands in front of me.

Staring at the blood red walls above her head, I cant help but feel anger at everything and everyone that put us in this position.

That caused the both of us this pain.

Everything that could’ve been stopped or prevented.

Everyone that made sure that it wasn’t stopped.

Everyone that caused the pain

And suddenly I saw each and every last one of them covered in red.

With looks of pure terror on their faces.

I could almost feel their flesh in my hands

I can hear their bones breaking as I tear them limb from limb

The blood splattering and squirted everywhere.

The smell of blood, sweat, piss, and best of all fear is wonderful.

The gasps, pleas and screams of all those fuckers sound like harmony.

Rose’s soft sigh gets me out of that sweet daydream.

I feel relief that she put on the jacket, but she curled back into a ball and still wont look at me directly.

She whimpers and wraps her arms around her stomach instantly bringing the memory of her telling me about her miscarriage and the vow I made to her that day.

An idea came to mind and I went on a whim, hoping it gets through to her.

I sat up straight and looked at Onyx’s face, keeping my hands where she can see them, I talk low enough to not scare her but firm enough that she knows I’m serious about this.

I take a deep breath and say the vow word for word, “I, Demon Benjamin King, vow to never harm you or our kids, whether it be words or physically. I vow to care and protect you and the kids, to comfort and encourage you in everything you do.”

She peeks at me but doesn’t stop shaking, “I vow to always have my arms wide open for you to rush to. I vow to always be there when you need someone to talk to. I vow to also listen, for as long as it takes for you to feel heard. I vow to watch in complete awe as you kick ass and take names. I vow to try to make you happy, to have laughter around you and the kids, and will always be you guys’ personal cheerleader.”

She locks eyes with me but doesn’t say anything, so I keep going, “I vow to be your navigator, sympathizer, sidekick, best friend, husband, mate and anything else you need me to be. I vow that you, Onyx Rose Peak, and only you will have all of me for all eternity. I will forever protect this vow for as long as I live or so help me.”

Its quiet for a long while before she gives me a small smile.

I give a small one back when Shadow sighs softly, “Mika is okay for now but is still shaken”

“what happened? They’ve done something like this before what was different?”

“Nothing changed except for today’s date”

“Today’s date…the baby’s death day…that means Sophia’s-”

“is in two days”

I gulp and push the pain, guilt and depression away. Shadow does the same for now.

To comfort him a little, I whisper aloud, “We’ll be okay”

Rose just blinks at me a few times before taking a shaky breath and looking around the room slowly, “W-w-wher-e-”

“The targets are taken care of and the others gave us some space but they’re all waiting for us at a different location.”

She nods her head.

“Are you ready to go, Onyx?”

She nods again

I nod and get up walking to the door.

I listen for anything suspicious before opening it and making sure.

Turning back to my little Rose, I wait for her to come close to me before leaving the room.

We get to the main floor when she grabs hold of my shirt.

“Make sure no one touches her”

One guy reaches for her but I grab his hand and twist until it breaks.

“You don’t have to worry about that, Shadow”

With the guy screaming behind us we finally leave the damn club with her holding onto me, the whole time.
