Chapter 49
Remember how I said it'll take forever to get to the sacred hall? Well, it turns out that Jeremy already got that covered. Lol, he stole a horse!
"It doesn't matter how we got the horse, what matters is what we are going to use the horse for" those were the words he used to justify his actions. I'm against theft, but on the bright side, we will get there quickly.
The thought of how we snuck out without his parents noticing is still astounding.
.
"Jeremy, can you stop for a moment please?" I said barely completing the sentence.
He stopped abruptly, sensing that I was in pain.
"What's wrong?" He asked, dismounting the horse and helping me do the same.
"I don't know," I said, trying to catch my breath. My palms were sweaty and I could feel my heart beating quickly. There was a stinging pain in my chest and I started feeling dizzy.
I knew exactly what was wrong with me, I needed to feed ASAP! but I was scared of what Jeremy's reaction might be if I tell him.
"What is it kara? we can abort the mission if you aren't feeling okay?" he said worry written all over his face.
Hell, there was no way I was going to stop my only ticket out of this place to slip.
Still not saying anything to Jeremy, my eyes searched around the bushy areas for my next innocent prey.
Luckily I spotted a little fluffy bunny walking around. I never thought I'll be cruel enough to kill a bunny, but a girl gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
.
I fed as quickly as I could. Jeremy and I continued our journey, and not once did he even look at me with disgust. I'm glad and grateful for that.
.
"This is the sacred hall?" I asked, still not believing that we got there without being spotted.
"It's not what you expected right? Jeremy's voice echoed.
"No, no, it's beautiful and unique, I haven't seen anything like it before"
You thought it will be cool and exquisite like buildings humans and even vampires craft?" he asked as we descended the horse.
"Those are great, but this one is unique, and greeny, it gives a warm vibe. Just like your home."
I said, staring at the tall beautifully carved building made with wood. Surrounded by grasses and flowers of different colors and species.
"I guess it's an elf thing. You know, the whole nature stuff" I added.
"Yeah, it is"
.
We entered the hall and amazingly, it has the same greeny taste even on the inside.
The place was quite dirty and unkept, but it didn't hide how beautiful it is.
"Come on, the spell room is located in the south wing," Jeremy said, as he climbed the steps quickly.
We got there in no second with the help of his map.
"Here, the great door!" Jeremy said pointing towards the door in front of us.
"Is that what it's called?"
"No, I just said that cuz, you know, it's almost impossible to get through.
"Ohhh" I chuckled.
"So how do we get this open?"
"Here," he said bringing the piece of paper from earlier.
"The answer is here, we have to find out what it is…" he didn't complete the sentence, stopping because of the sound we heard suddenly, there were foot steps.
"It's coming from below" he whispered.
The footsteps started climbing up the stairs and at that moment I knew our mission was going to go down the drain any moment from now.
I couldn't just stand there and let our plan and efforts get ruined. So I did the only thing u could think of at the moment, causing distraction.
"Kara what are you doing we are going to get caught. Come, we need to get out of here" Jeremy who was already packing his stuff said.
"No! We are not leaving this place, not until we deactivate this spell.
You stay here and try unlocking the door, while I distract them"
"Okay, but be careful" was his response before he sat back and continued his work. That was easy.
.
I ran in the opposite direction from the south wing which I assume is the north wing. It has a huge open library in the corridor with tons of books on the shelves. and a lot of doors, it was bigger and definitely way more furnished than the south wing.
I picked up a book and hit it hard on the wooden floor, making a loud thud.
"Who is there?" I heard the owner of the footsteps ask. I was reassured that it was Eldred. I can never forget that voice.
He started coming towards the north wing and I was relieved that my plan was working but at the same time, I was scared he'll catch me. The thought of seeing his face alone made me feel cold all of a sudden.
His footsteps kept getting closer and I knew it was time to play hide and seek.
.
"Who's there I said. Show yourself you coward" Eldred has been yelling this, and it surprises me to see that he's not tired of it.
As I said, the north wing is quite big, so I have been able to take him in circles.
It's tiring but also, it's all I can do. I hope Jeremy will be successful.
"Well well well, what have we got here?" I could see the excitement in his eyes when he spotted me.
Ugh, I was lost in my little world I didn't even notice that I was going to bump into him.
I turned on my heels and ran in the opposite direction.
Eldred didn't wait for a signal to come after me.
"You little bitch, giving a lot of head aches" he barked, while I concentrated on putting distance between us.
My hands reached for the nearest door and I entered the room behind it and shut the door.
Eldred started hitting the door hard.
And with the way he was going, I was sure he will be able to knock the door down any moment from now.
And just as I predicted, 2, 3, 1, bam! The door came crashing to the ground.
I have held him for as long as I can, I just hope that Jeremy has progressed.
"what? Are you tired of running already? But the game has just begun"
He had that disgusting smirk on his face as he walked across the room, making his way to where I was, one thing I didn't notice earlier was the thick, long whip in his hands. Is he going to use that on me?
He must have noticed how I was staring at the whip. Hence, he said,
"That's right girl, stubborn people like you need punishments. That's the only way to keep you in your place"
I couldn't say a thing, I just watched the movement of the whip as he raised it, throwing it toward me.
It came so quickly that I didn't have the time to dodge it completely. But it didn't hit me completely at least, only a little part of my neck, down my arm.
I couldn't see it at the moment but I was sure it will be red by now.
"Owwwh" I yelped, using my hand to touch my now stinging neck.
That's it, I can't let this guy destroy my whole body. I need to think of a plan.
.
He reached for me again but this time, it was a perfect dodge.
That's how our little catch the monkey game started. With him chasing me trying to get me and me, trying my best to dodge him.
The game however ended quickly when he pinned me to the wall with no escape root.
He looked really angry and I could swear he was going to kill me.
I squeezed my eyes, and just when I was about to close them shut, my eyes caught the corridors. Oh, how I wish I could get there.
.
"What the heck?" Eldred yelled from inside the room.
I don't know how on earth this happened, all I know is that one moment I was in the room about to get killed or whatever he was planning. And the other, I'm in the corridor which I thought of being in. I just teleported and I can't believe it.
Has Jeremy stopped the spell? Am I really going to be free?
"Jeremy?" I yelled, running towards the south wing. Leaving Eldred who seemed to be really shocked.
"We did it kara! We did it!" Jeremy said running towards me. He embraced me tightly and we both jumped in unison.
"How dare you destroy all my hard work" Eldred said disrupting our happy moment. He started attacking with his wind power.
It didn't take time for me and Jeremy to start fighting back. Though I wasn't experienced or strong, I was not going to let that stop me from helping. That was a mistake I made when he first attacked us.
.
The fight kept going and as expected we had the upper hand.
"Ahhhhh" he screamed when Jeremy used a little silver dagger to stab him in the chest.
I watched as his eyes slowly closed, trying to wrap my head around the fact that his Chapter has ended.
.
"Come on Kara, let's go home," Jeremy said.
I hugged him once more before saying.
"I think I'll get back to my friends now. Thanks a lot, Jeremy. For every thing"
