Chapter 33
"What is it?" I asked staring at the tunnel in front of me.
"How did you find it?" Max asked curiously.
"I don't know, I just raised one of the sculptures and the wall opened."
It's dark and deep, very deep. To think I've never noticed it. Wow, mom is really good with all the secret stuff.
"So, are we gonna check it out, or do you guys prefer staring.". Josh said bringing me and max back from our trance.
We stepped in, and josh followed, the walls closed behind us immediately.
" what? What did you do." I asked and we all looked at josh, waiting for an answer.
"Nothing, I just dropped the sculpture before entering, I didn't know the doors will close once I do."
"Now how are we going to get out of here?"
"Chill kara, Let's just see where the tunnel takes us, they might be a way out from on the other end," Max said, making me calm a little.
It's so dark that I can only see a little of the tunnel, but the guys seem to be doing fine.
"Ehh umm, guys, hello? Half vampire here, I can't see a thing."
"Ohh right here you go," Josh said and handed me his phone. That reminds me of my phone, I left it with my old clothes at Layla's place. I have been occupied with this whole vampire stuff that I have totally forgotten that phones exist, plus, the whole staying in the woods actually made me forget about technology and even civilization.
.
The tunnel led us to a big wooden door. The door was open so we entered without any difficulty.
The room wasn't what I imagined. I thought there'll be those super high tech stuff, lasers, and traps and then, the crystal was kept in a really secure glass with a bomb attached to it, and can only be unlocked with a pin.
But no, it didn't look anything like that, in fact, it was just a room filled with ...
"Books?" josh said, obviously surprised too.
It's a freaking library, all the excitement, just to end up in a library. Just to be clear, I don't hate books, in fact, I love reading, it's my life! But then, this is not the right time to read. or is it?
The books are arranged on shelves, different shelves, the room is huge and we can't even see the other end. Different books, all relating to vampires, maybe this is really what we needed.
"Okay, let's find books relating to the stone," Max said and we all started searching.
I came across a lot of ancient vampire books and it took a lot of control not to pick any of them.
Vampire mating, feeding, anatomy, history, and even one about the ongoing war. I couldn't resist anymore so I picked one of the books and hid it in my side bag. _thank you Layla for attaching fanny packs to the outfits_
"Found one!" Josh said in a holler, and we all went to where he was. He was holding a gigantic book, it probably has millions of pages. It was white on the outside, and the only thing written on it was, THE STONE OF LIGHT. That's it, no picture, no author's name, no book description, or anything at all.
Josh kept the book on the floor and we all surrounded it, squatting. He dusted the back and then carefully opened it.
"What the f**k?" Max yelled. The book was empty! Totally empty, nothing is written in the millions of pages, nothing at all! How cruel.
"Shh, shhh.“ Josh whispered, we kept quiet for a while and then, heard a sound, a low, deep groan. “someone is here."
Max and josh slowly followed the sound as carefully as they could, and I followed suit.
The closer we got to it, the louder it gets.
we finally got to where the sound was coming and to my surprise, it wasn't an animal. The first thing my eyes caught was the cupreous hair, the pale white skin, and then, it's shiny sandy brown eyes, and of course sharp pointy fangs. We have with us another vampire.
Max and josh immediately stood in a fighting position. But if you ask me, the person in front of us looked harmless, well, if you exclude the fangs.
She was beautiful and looked confused.
"Guys we don't have to fight her."
"Yeah, she looks dead already," Josh said honestly. She did look dead, something is wrong with her, but what is she doing here, is the oneof the evil vampires who want me?
"Who are you?" Max asked, but the only thing she did was look at him, she didn't even raise a finger, in fact, looking up at us seemed to be a really tough job for her.
"Guys, I think I know what happened," Josh said, but he wasn't talking about the mysterious vampire girl, he was talking about the empty book.
"The reason the book is empty is, it's content has already been taken."
"What?"
"Yeah, there's a spell that is usually cast on special things like this, things that are meant for only one person or for are too important to risk others seeing it. Once it is read, The writings disappear."
"Someone must have read it before us."
"And that someone is her," I said, pointing my finger accusingly at her.
"But, what's wrong with her? She looks lifeless." Max said shaking her body with his hands.
"Hmmm, let me see," Josh said as he moved closer to her, we all stared at him in wonder. Though he is playful, he's still the oldest and most experienced among us.
He bent to her level and put his hands on her head, then used his fingers to widen her eyes, just like a doctor examining his patient. she growled at him weakly as if trying to fight, but it just made her look more pathetic.
"She's starving, she needs blood. Was "Dr" Joshua's diagnosis.
