Chapter 8
"Ash... Asher?" I stutter nervously and gulp down the sudden lump that forms in my throat. By now, my heart beats rapidly against my chest like it would force its way out anytime soon. Staring at him sitting there while having his eyes all over me and a smirk dancing at the corner of his lips, I can literally feel my death hovering over me, and my soul leaving me slowly. It feels as though I'm in the middle of the forest in a vampire's den, waiting to be devoured by the demonic creatures. That is how scared I am right now.
"What... What... What are you doing here?" I further ask as if it's not obvious what he's doing in my room. As usual, he came to torment me, and I can't deny the fact that it's working now.
"Nothing... And when has it become a crime to enter my little sister's room?" He finally stands up to his feet and shrugs, crossing his arms on his chest, as he emphasizes on 'little sister'. He's up to something, although I have no idea about what it is.
"I... Didn't say that... Can you excuse me? I just came back from work, and I need to freshen up," I say to him and bite my bottom lip while praying silently that he listens to me. Not that I have hope at this point, anyway.
"Excuse you... Excuse you... Excuse you..." He says repeatedly as he stands up to his feet and tucks his hands inside his pocket, while still looking at me with that unreadable expression on his face. "Yes... I need to freshen up and get some rest," I reply to him, and he scoffs.
"Raymond... Your date with him wasn't for work, was it?" He suddenly asks out of the blue as he advances toward me while still having his hands in his pockets, and I can't help but gulp down the lump that suddenly forms inside my throat. Wait! He didn't believe me when I told him that?
"Wha... What are you saying? We... We... Went..." My voice trails off as he suddenly pushes me lightly against the wall, slamming his hand behind me on the wall afterward, while hovering over me like he's going to devour me with those eyes as he stares down at me.
"What's going on between you and Raymond, Adelie?" He hushes as his eyes pierce into mine.
"Why do you smell of him? The kiss... How dare he have a taste of your lips. Does he want to die?" He suddenly roars as he slams his hand on the wall, and I flinch fearfully.
"Why did you allow another man to kiss you, Adelie? I told you to never do that... How dare you kiss another man?" He roars for the second time as he clenches his fist until his veins are popping out of his skin, and his knuckles make a cracking sound. I know Asher won't be so angry to the point of hitting me, but I can't deny that I'm still scared of him hitting me out of anger.
"Wh... What are you talking about?" How I still dare to act dumb in front of him even after he saw everything is daring, and I think that it's going to get him more angry, but you aren't expecting me to give in and accept this just like that, right? "Do you still dare to lie to me, Adelie? Tell me now, what's going on between you and Raymond?" This time, he sounds more like he's trying to convince me to tell him the truth. Why is he suddenly so calm with me?

"No... Nothing..."
"What about the kiss?" He cuts me off, and I bite my bottom lip. Maybe I shouldn't have really allowed Raymond to drop me off here, I shouldn't have allowed him to kiss me, but I foolishly did, and now I have to face it all alone. "Ki... Kiss? What kiss are you talking about?" I try to sound convincing and confident enough to make him believe me, but who says that it'll be possible especially with those hazel eyes staring into my soul?
"Did he ask you out?" His voice rings deep in my head, but I only stare back at him. I suddenly feel like something is missing in me, I feel like I am no longer the normal person that was standing in front of him minutes ago, and he seems to have changed within seconds. For some seconds, I feel like I am under a spell.
"Yes," I find myself telling him the truth even though I intended not to let him know about it before. It's not my fault, because nothing seems to be right with me now.
"Did you accept him?" He asks the second question, and I find myself nodding my head even if I so much want to lie to him.

"Raymond... He's now your boyfriend?" He further asks, his eyes are so red with rage in them. A dark and intimidating aura is strangely surrounding him, and I can't decipher where the strange aura is coming from. The man standing before me now doesn't look like the brother that I grew up with, he looks to me like he has been possessed by some demon.
"Ash... Asher... You... You're scaring me," Those are the only words that leave my lips in a whisper once I open my mouth. My heart beats rapidly against my chest like it'll force its way out anytime soon.
"Why did you accept him, Adelie? Didn't I tell you that you can't have a boyfriend? I told you that you belong to me, why did you still accept him?" He scoffs momentarily as he finally pulls away from me and scoffs again.
"You can't keep doing this, Asher. You are my brother, and you can't keep me to yourself, okay? I can't possibly marry my brother, Asher..."
"I will marry you, Adelie... You are mine alone, and nobody can take you away from me!" He roars like an obsessive boyfriend, and I freeze on the spot. Huh? What did he just say?
"Wh... What are you saying, Asher? Are you out of your mind now? How can you marry me? I am your sister for..."
"Break up with him," He cuts me off, and my mouth drops open in shock...
