Unlawful Affair With Asher Williams

Chapter 36

Cynthia POV

Sitting on the edge of the bed and fondling with my fingers as I feel my heart pounding hard against my chest, many questions run through my mind, and I can only get more nervous. Now that I'm here, I'm kinda regretting why I came here in the first place. Although he's my boyfriend, I'm not sure that I want to do this with him yet, not when he told me that he doesn't love me.

"Should I just tell him that I want to go home?" I ask myself, but quickly dismiss the thought since it's crazy.

The shower suddenly stops in the bathroom, and my heart sinks into my stomach as the realization dawn on me that he will soon be out of the bathroom, and I gulp down nothing nervously. I feel like I'm going to pass out later. The door finally opens, and I stare at the ground, avoiding his gaze as I feel him walk inside his room. I can only see his hairy legs that have their hair clinging to his skin with water dripping down them. It's literally my first time seeing him like this, and I'm already scared of raising my gaze to see what he looks like in nakedness.

"Look at me," His domineering voice sounds through my ears, and I gulp down nothing nervously as I slowly raise my gaze to see him standing in front of me, with a black robe on. Ah! That's a relief that he's not naked.

"You look nervous. Is everything alright?" His voice sounds calm this time, and I can only wonder how he switches his mood and voice so often that they are so perfect. One minute, he's the perfect male lead, and the second minute, he's the villain that would send chills down anyone's spine, no matter how brave you are. I feel like there's something off with this young man, but what exactly it is, I have no idea of.

"Hmm," I slowly nod my head as I stare at him. His pair of green eyes pierce at me like they are seeing through my soul and his damp hair clings to his head with some strands on his forehead. Although there's only a small visible part of his chest, but I know he would have perfect abs.

"Do you mind helping me dry my hair?" He suddenly asks out of the blue as I watch him walk over to the dressing table where he pulls out the chair and sits on it.

"Hmm," I quickly stand up and walk over to the dresser, where I pick up the hand drier and set to dry his hair. All the time that I help dry his hair, his eyes never left mine as he stares at my reflection in the mirror. He looks like he has so many things running through his mind, and I can only wonder what they are.

"Why do you love me?" He suddenly asks out of the blue, his eyes not leaving mine, which will make it difficult to lie to him later.

"Why do you still choose to date me even after I told you that I don't love you?" He further asks, not giving me enough time to think about the answer to his first question, and I sigh briefly. I have not really thought about it all this while. I have not asked myself why I love him, and I have not also known why I still chose to date him.

"I don't know," I reply to him honestly, and he scoffs.

"Aren't you scared of getting hurt?" He further asks, his voice hoarse this time, and I gulp down nothing nervously.

"I... I..."

"Why do you put me first, and not yourself? Do you love me so much to want to give up your happiness for me?" He cuts me off, and I bite my bottom lip embarrassingly.

"Asher..."

"Are you hoping you would win my heart someday?" He cuts me off, and I gulp down nothing nervously. Why the hell did I even think that? He already made it clear to me that he doesn't love me, why am I still trying? "Maybe," I reply to him honestly, and he chuckles softly which only lasts for seconds, and stops abruptly.

"I promise you, Cynthia. I will marry you if you can make me fall deeply in love with you," He says to me, picking his words one after the other, maybe to make me realize how serious he is about this. "Huh?" I blink my eyes rapidly, and he smirks at my reflection.

"I, Asher Williams, will marry, Cynthia and take you as my wife forever, if you can win my heart. I give you three months to do that, but if you don't succeed then, we will break up, forever," He further says, and my mouth drops open in shock as I stare at him. Is he being serious right now?

"Asher..." My voice trails off as he suddenly stands up to his feet and turns to face me, making my heart skip. Slowly, he reaches for my hand and raises it to his chest, placing it against his heart. Strangely, I can't feel his heartbeat. Does he not have one? It's impossible for him not to have a heartbeat.

"Your heart..." I mutter and pause to stare at his eyes, and he's staring down at me.

"If you can make it beat, I will consider giving love a chance... If you can make it race faster beyond control, I promise to marry you right away," He says with confidence, and my lips parted as I stare at him. Why is he so confident?

"How... can I make this happen?" I ask him, and he giggles as he moves away from me, and shrugs.

"That is why you should try, Cynthia. I can't tell you how, because even I don't know how," He shrugs again as he sits on the edge of the bed, and reaches for the bottle of red wine on the bedside table. He pours some into the tall glass of wine and gulps everything down in one shot.

"You are going to get drunk if you..." I try to stop him when he pours the second glass, but he already gulps everything down before I can talk, and I sigh briefly.

"Don't worry, I don't get drunk, not with red wine," He smirks at me as he pours another glass and sips from it this time.

"It's getting late, why don't you go to bed?" He suddenly asks after he glances at the wall clock. It's almost midnight.

"What about you? Aren't you going to sleep?" I ask him in a low tone, and he shakes his head as he finally gulps down the content of the glass cup.

"I have something to take care of over the night. You should sleep first," He replies to me as he stands up to his feet. Here I was, thinking he was going to have sex with me, but turns out he's not perverted as I'd thought. He's really a gentleman.

"Hmm," I slowly nod my head.

"Good night. I will join you shortly," He says before he strides out of the room, closing the door gently behind him.

'You have to be careful around him' now that I think about it, why did Adelie say that?
