Unlawful Affair With Asher Williams

Chapter 20

Cynthia POV

It has been four days since I got the worst rejection of my life, and I haven't been the same all this while. I took a few days off work just so can calm my head, and now that I feel much better, I'm finally resuming work today. Glancing at my reflection one more time in the mirror, I finally pick up my bag from the bed and stride out of my room.

Stepping out of the building, I stop at the roadside to haul down a cab that'll take me to the office.

Standing at the roadside for ten minutes without any hope of getting a cab, I sigh frustratingly. I think I'm going to have to trek because I can't afford to be late for the office after spending a few days at home. Striding down the road a few minutes later, a black jeep pull over beside me, bringing me to a halt. I stare at the tinted window glass, wondering who the hell is in the car. It better not be one of those men that can't afford to walk past any girl they see on the road, because I'm in no mood for that nonsense now.

The glass finally wines down, and my mouth drops open in shock as the person that welcomes me. It's Asher, my crush! Adelie's brother, and the bastard that called me ugly.

"Hi, Cynthia," He smiles at me awkwardly, and I blink my eyes to be sure that I'm not dreaming. Because for fuck's sake, this was the same guy that insulted me the last time I was at their house. I would've concluded that he's mistaking me for someone else, but recalling that he called my name, I know that he is aware of who he's talking to.

"Are you here to tell me how ugly I am, Mr. Asher?" I ask him, pissed. You can imagine the emotional trauma he has put me through with his words, you can imagine how depressed I had felt all these days, and you're not expecting me to just pretend as if nothing ever happened, right? Even though I'm in love with him, I am not so stupid.

"I see you're finding it difficult to get a cab to your office. Why don't you hop in and let me drop you off?" He asks me, ignoring what I asked him, and I scoff.

"You must be thinking that I'm stupid, Asher, but I'm not. Calling me names and insulting me, and still showing up here, acting like a good person. You should either learn more about how to act or maybe quit pretending to be a good man," I fire at him, not minding if I go late to work.

"I would've loved to learn more about acting, but unfortunately, I'm not an actor, neither am I aspiring to be one, and did you just say that I'm pretending to be a gentleman? I'm not, sweetheart. Why don't you quit being stubborn, and hop in?" He rolls his eyes at me. Wow! He's not even remorseful.

"I'd rather trek down to the office, than hop in your car," I fire at him, and walk past him angrily.

"Hey, Cynthia... We can talk about this in the car, ok?" He steps out of his car and starts following me. As much as I want to be happy about this, I try not to, because there's nothing impressive about this. Who knows, maybe he's trying to pull another stunt with me.

He finally blocks my way, while tucking his hands in his pockets.

"Fine! I'm sorry about what happened that day. I was not in a good mood that day, so I acted quite irrationally. Why don't we talk about it on your way to work? I promise to make it up to you," He says to me like a gentleman that I'm not convinced he is. I don't trust him.

"Do you think I'm stupid? You think it's fine to insult me and show up later just to blame it on your mood swings?" I scoff at him, crossing my arms on my chest as I roll my eyes. I think I'm getting extremely angry here, but I can't just help it. "Come on, Cynthia... I told you I'm sorry, can you give me a chance to make it up to you, please?" He cups his cheeks and smiles widely at me, but I still find his smile kind of weird, like he's forcing it. Does that really matter right now? "Anyway, thanks for the gift. It looks great on me, yeah?" He shows me his hand, and I gasp sharply. He's wearing the wristwatch I got for him, and I think I'm so fucking over the moon right now. "Yes... Yes!" I reply to him excitedly, blushing hard.

"Thank you. Come on, you're running late for work already," He grabs my hand, and my heart misses a beat as he pulls me with his, leading us toward his car. We finally hop in, and he starts driving away.

"Thank you," I smile at him shyly, and turn my face away afterward. This has always been my dream, but it feels so weird right now. I could never have believed if anyone had told me that I would ever be in the same car with Asher Williams, my crush, but now, my dream has finally come true.

"I'm sorry again for the other time. I didn't mean to do that," He breaks the awkward silence, and I nod my head.

"By the way, you are really pretty, I was just teasing you that day," He says to me, and I feel like my head is going to explode soon because the fuck! He doesn't know what he's doing to me right now.

After driving for what seems like forever, he finally arrives in front of the company and stops the car.

"Thanks for the ride," I say to him, and he nods his head. Just when I'm about to step out of the car, he holds my hand and pulls me back to the seat, and before I can comprehend what's happening, he leans forward and claims my lips, kissing me slowly and taking my breath away. I know it doesn't make sense to kiss him this time, but fuck! I want this. Having my crush kissing me in his car is the best feeling ever.

He finally pulls away from me and stares at me lustfully.

"That's my way of saying sorry about what happened. Here's my card, you can call me later when you're done in the office, so I can pick you up," He says to me, handing me his card, and I quickly take it from him.

"I will surely do that," I nod my head excitedly.

"By the way, you have such sexy lips. I wouldn't mind tasting it every time, if you allow me," He winks at me seductively, and I blush hard. I know he's being flirtatious with me right now, but I can't deny that I love this side of him. I wouldn't mind being his pet if he would flirt with me like this all day.

"Thank you," I squeak excitedly.

"You're welcome, sweetheart. See you after work," He winks at me, and I nod my head before I push the car door open, and step out of his car.

I wave at him as I watch him drive away, and when his car is out of my sight, I turn to go inside but stop on my track when I find Adelie standing behind me with a blank expression on her face. "What! You scared me," I hold my chest as I flinch.

"We need to talk," She says to me grumpily, then turns and starts walking away. What's wrong with her now?
