Unknown Magic (3)

Chapter 18.1

The King and queen do not join us but accommodate us to a hut where we can work away of saying thank and they eventually clear the body. The kingdom Terra maybe earth and tropical paradise by they are straight to business people and I respect them for that. At the moment all five of us are discussing things since this note I received must have brought clues to what we are dealing with.

Thuse was sitting at the table provided in the hut, hands on the table drumming his finger causing soft thump sounds against the table, while other hand seat nicely under his chin.

Wolf was leaning against the open window letting in the fresh air to linger inside hiding the wooden smell in the hut. His brow occasionally pulled together while hands in the pockets.

Emily and Damon were sitting on a couch being close to one another while their fingers intwined. As for me I was pacing thinking, trying to get the wheels in my head to move.

“Okay” I started after everyone was waiting for me, “somehow these murders are connected and also connected to the unbalance but how?”

Emily spoke but shifted in the couch possibly getting closer to Damon, “Well I don’t know but everyone keeps repeating that you are the Light, yet we have no idea why that has any significance.”

“Maybe its not the significant part.” Damon chimes in, “maybe its realization of power you have.”

I huffed a breath and slowly joined Wolf at the window leaning against it. Already feeling his electric pulse but I don’t move close to him. He looks over at me, green shiny eyes illuminating the gold from the fire post that are now being lit outside on the boardwalks between huts.

“Don’t think being the light is important, rather understanding why everything is being pointed or directed to you…not me but you,” Wolf voice hard out at the end, almost accepting a truth he did not want to believe.

“But why is everything directed to her, “Emily questions almost out of irritation.

I nod in agreement, “I agree, why me, doesn’t make sense, why is it telling me this and why is the killer want me to figure this out?”

“Maybe the killer has the answers, I mean look at the note,” Thuse chimed in, fingers ceased drumming and he was now studying me.

A cool shiver went through me, there has to be something about him that Emily says is somewhat true, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

I take the note from my pocket and read it again, “I am part of something grand, something bigger” I think out loud. But what the elements already complete a cycle , so what would I have to do to help?”

Wolf extends his hand to me, I look at his calloused hand then realized he want to read the note himself. I placed it in his hands and hear the crinkle beneath it.

“Apparently you belong to keep a balance, “he spoke, but really to no one.

“Wait” Emily shot up hands out as if stopping everyone from speaking in quiet room. “So people who blamed you for unbalance were actually right, yet it was Asema, not Wolf?” she places her hands ono her hips and beings walking around the room causing some creaking noises in it to quickly echo joining the already cricket night outside and beyond.

A few birds shriek but not loudly, either to gain territory or to say goodnight as the dark golden glow as setting amongst the leaves.

“But” Emily pipes up again, “I don’t see how those are connected to the murders.”

“Maybe some manipulation happened causing things to get out of order.” Thuse speaks but a whisper. I don’t think anyone heard him as Wolf cuts in right after. A finger to his lips, as he stared down to the floor intently thinking.

“Wait you remember” he caught my wrist a way to grab me attention to him, “when you flown through the air.”

I nod, “Yeah a force pushing me over.” I recalled our last duel amongst the trees.

“And I didn’t feel a thing just thought you used air to jump me?” he slightly smirks at the memory.

I smiled only for a second.

“Yeah, a force, felt like awakening.”

He stares at me intently, for some reason studying me. “What if that was a wake up call?”

“Wake up call for what?” Damon spoke from the distance.

“Well” Wolf scratched behind his head trying to form the words or thoughts he is about to speak. “You been growing in your power, apparently you have something unique. I can feel it in our bond. The note,” he raises it flashing to my eyes, “Says being part of something bigger otherwise everything will wither away.”

“Wait,” Emily cuts n again, “What did the Aer Kingdom speak to you about?”

That made everyone lean toward to hear my words.

I huffed a breath crossing my arms over my chest, “they believe I am some glue that will keep things together.”

“Maybe something happened in the elements realm, your power causing something else to split. Something you can glue back together, repair.” Thuse spoke now arms crossed on the table. He stared between Wolf and I as if he was trying to understand something different.

“Wait hold up, your not saying Asema has to go to the element realm and fix it with her powers.” Emily voice hardens as she walks up to the table and placing her palms flat down on the table and gave Thuse a hard star. His eyes connect to hers returning the hard stare. Atmosphere becomes odd to a point one or the other trying to gain power silently.

Wolf leaned away and walked to the table staring down at Thuse crossing his arms over his chest.

“I hate to admit but Thuse might be right,” he turns to face me again. Sadness yet compassion filled his eyes. “You may have to fix the elements, become part of something grand, becomes one with them.”

I swallow, I did not want to hear those words, meaning I had even more problems on my hand.

But that still does not explain the murder’ I thought to Wolf.

He blinks, ’It may help understand it better’ he replies back.

I bit the inside of my lip and turned to look out instantly watching the kingdom life below.

Someone lit the last of the post and walked away with quiet thumbing against the boardwalk. My eyes slightly watched the flickering of cage fire slightly illuminate the kingdom above. Little dark spots with glowing lights scattered around. I watched as a few people walked in the sky on some tight bridge rope chattering and laughing along as if nothing bad was again to happen. Their joy and laughter placed smile on my face knowing least some people can be happy. My eyes scanned the bridges to down below listening as less pounding of feet against wood and dead earth below was ceasing. A giggle down the earth caught my attention. A mother and father playing with their child. Parents on either side and swinging the child into the air, he laughed as if he was flying in mid air as if gravity was nothing.

But that was cut when Emily screamed my name and Wolf lightly tapped me on the shoulder.

I turned to see everyone staring at me in either frustration or annoyance as if they been talking the while time and I had not listened.

“Did you not hear a word?” Thuse rose from the chair palms flat to the table.

Innocently I shook my head. Damon smirked but I don’t know why.

“We came to a conclusion and good you didn’t hear as we believe you would not like the answer” he rises from the couch and makes his way over to Emily who actually nudges him coming closer to me and crosses her arms over her chest.

“Every, well not every but two of the families, well technically one but earth elf’s count” Emily beings the matter.

I sigh exasperated, “get to the point.”

She was about to open her mouth when a creak of the door sounded causing us all to snap our attention to who it was. Surprisingly it was the queen and kind and they seemed unfazed by our reactions. They just walked in and stopped before me with neutral faces almost uninterested in what our conversation has been about.

“We read the note and at first it did not make sense, but when we saw you and the power you bestowed, the puzzle pieces came together.” The king voice was strong. He looked to his wife to carry on the words.

“Husband Demeter and I Kai, will personally ask you to fix the broken link between the elements, Or our kingdom will wither away and we will be nothing left but ash.” Her deep green eyes bore into mine, but in a way she wants me to trust her.

I swallowed as again all eyes are on me and Wolf slowly inching towards me probably feels better if he is by my side while these royals stare me down.

I looked between the two royal proceeding them as gods almost bowing down and let a breath loose.

“What do I need to do?
