Unknown Life (1) (Editing in Progress)

Chapter 7.1

“Sorry” I whispered a squeak, as I scrambling to my feet.

“Uh..um..uh” he struggled for words while trying to gracefully get up as well.

We both stood there looking at one another registering how he should act now. It didn’t help when Emily reappeared.

“Asema…sorry” she stopped dead and looked to Wolf and I, my cheeks flushed redden almost burning.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to intrude” her voice slicked assuming things, we stayed silent even though I wanted to object.

“So, what section of books do you want to start with?” she asked gazing around the library.

“Honestly, I want to start with powers, but oddly I don’t think that is the way to go,” as I joined gawking on what was around me.

Wolf piped in.

“Maybe history section, better understanding then in class?”

I swirled to looked at him.

“Okay then follow me,” Emily started for a direction and I followed and realized she was leading me to spiral staircase, I noticed Wolf was tagging along too but I ignored him.

We went up a spiral staircase and came to a floor with couple of tables and few desks accompanied by lampstands. I gazed at the books and saw they were tattered fabric or some ripped leather.

“This is the history section” Emily gestured with arms opened wide.

I slowly walked and examined the books individually what would I start with, history of element powers? As I look upon two or three books.

I was scared about not finding the answer but soon realized I could just find sections about information I could gather. Hoping it didn’t interfere with my school work.

“These” Emily said from a distance, I looked to where she was and saw that she placed three books on a table, “are books that might help with some answers you are looking for.”

I strolled over to her and nodded, examining them seeing how they were not battered but in decent condition.

I picked up the top one and stared at the corner for a moment. It was blue velvet and I traced the gold lettering on the book. It was hard cover and I saw it had gold lines on the spine

“Um…I have a study session with Damon” she hesitated for a moment yearning to leave. I looked up turned to book and knew what she meant.

“Go I will be fine” I assured her and began to sit down. She nodded and was gone. I saw Wolf was still fiddling almost seemed to be lingering and not wanting to leave.

“You can join” I gestured to the seat beside me, he smiled and made his way to the seat beside me.

“So, what exactly are you searching” he asked setting himself into the chair.

I looked up at him and found myself suddenly trapped in his eyes but ripped my gaze away from him.

“Well…” I hesitated unsure if he should know, but he was a Lycan and I felt I could trust him.

“You promise to keep it a secret?” I begged.

Furrowed his eyebrows but nodded.

I lifted my necklace off my neck and handed it to him which he took and gazed at it.

“Emily took me to the temple and we tried to see if I had powers to which I do…don’t tell as Emily warned me for some reason.”

But Wolf stared at it as a treasure.

“Wolf?”

He blinked and hastily gave it back to me. “Don’t take it off and hide it, we don’t know what will happen if any more students find out” he warns and thrust the necklace back at me.

I nodded taking it and looped it over my head and placed the pendent behind my shirt where the coolness kissed my skin.

It stayed silent between us while I pretended to read. Only a few moments went by and Wolf piped up again, “Would you like to try them.?”

I furrowed my eyebrows this time, “uh?”

“Your powers, would you like to try them?”

I looked at him again and his face was dead serious.

“I don’t understand” as wanted to see where he was going with this.

“There is a place by the temple that is made for students to try their powers, its good place and secluded” he spoke and was already rising from his seat while it slightly scuttled across the ground.

“Wait what about the books?” I question.

He looked back, stares at them for a moment, “we can come back for them, as not a lot people would steal your books, you will be fine. If anything happens, they will just stay there unless you have them put back your by someone else.

I did know how to response but I found myself following him. Guessing I was not really worried what would happen to them. If anything I assume Wolf would help me find them again.

We walked in silence but not really as we had the occasional chatter but on surface stuff. We walked till we approached the familiar gate and Wolf pulled one side open and lead me through it. This time we walked to the side of the temple and towards a open area with a pond. The wind suddenly picked up making it a bit brisky out, I only shivered for a moment. I noticed a moment later we were approaching a stone circle and stopped before it.

“This is where you test your powers, or potential powers with the necklace, it generally just an area to familiarize yourself with the elements” Wolf said.

He then walked away a few feet and sat on the grass. I looked back at him and saw him gesture a go for me. I sighed walked to him and placed the necklace on his lap and felt a bolt of energy touching his leg. I walked back to the circle and stepped inside and instantly I felt different. The energy almost as if lives in bubble of magic.

Know the flow of energy, I thought to myself.

I survey around and a bit frightened but how things may go. My gaze went back to Wolf.

“You will be fine, just try something” he encouraged.

I swallowed and nodded.

I looked to the ground then brought of my hands up and randomly thought of fire and in an instant a flame formed out of my hand. It didn’t burn but blazed orange and yellow and I watched it in amazement.

I instantly stopped thinking of it and it disappeared as it never existed.

Okay that was cool, I admitted to myself. Let me try another one. I peered down to the grass and crouch down, staring at it intently.

Grow I thought, thinking how it would reach higher and higher, the grass grew growing taller by seconds almost encasing me.

Stop I commanded, instantly it stopped. And slowly I allowed it to wither back to the ground as the size grew to small buds before grass was grown again to fresh cut.

Now water, but how was I to do that? Scanning the area till I glance over at the pond but that was too far. So, I brought my hands up again and thought of water. Imagining a wave thrashing around in my hands. I saw a wave form and create ripples, circling around me. I thought of something and sure enough a whirl pool of waves circled around me.

Stop and it vanished.

Last but not least, what would I do for air, I thought for a moment then an idea came to my mind.

I took a deep breath and instantly a gush a wind took it moment and slammed down my lungs as it belonged in the windiest place. But it felt fresh.

I returned to normal and brought my gaze to Wolf who face was shock but fell with wonder.

I walked out of the circle towards him and sat down beside him taking my necklace back looping it over my head.

“That was something that you don’t see everyday” he confessed.

“Mhmm, unbelievable, almost well unreal”

“Your need to keep this a secret, just to be sure we know why you have control of all four. As some of you classmates may question or do something to you, causing danger.”

I nodded, “so I can trust you…even though you saw everything” I questioned. Knowing that was a stupid question to ask.

He snickered and I stared at him.

“I promise to keep my lips sealed, as to keep you safe.”

I smiled and my gaze lingered in his.
