Unknown Darkness (2)

Chapter 6.1

“What?” I thought it was a joke, “How is that even possible? I am not even showing and last time we ever had slept with each other was about a year ago” I stammered utterly baffled.

Wolf didn’t say anything rather he was smiling at me.

“Wolf… how is that even possible… Kieran took advantage of me, plus need I remind you I am not even showing and how has it that supposed to let me see the stars?” I said worried.

He took my hand and kissed it, and began dragging me around on the ice.

“Asema talk to it … also immortals’ pregnancies are different to human ones” he informed me.

I became even more fresk out and confused by the minute.

“Asema I can feel the power fainting just do it, chart the stars” he said.

“Wait!” I screamed trying to grabbed onto him more but I could feel fading because I realized something “Kieran has been watching us, he knows your here we need to run” I screamed.

“Asema… the magic is protecting us, to Kieran it looks like you are still skating” he said smiling.

That little bit assured me but I was afraid, then Wolf was starting to look ghostly and after a second he was gone.

I was sliding and came to halt, I looked around. Was I just dreaming or that actually happen?

“Enjoy your ice skating” Kieran voice hollered at me.

I turned around to see him standing at the edge smiling at me. Was that all he truly saw me doing? Skating around the rink. I started feeling a bit more ease.

“Yes,” I breathed with a puff of mist.

He raised his hand and pulled me towards him, like a invisible string he was pulling. With that I was face to face with him and found myself little wobbly I grabbed onto his jacket for balance. He smiled and placed his hands on my waist and pulled me closer to him, enough to have his lips brush against my mine.

“So, do you need something warm?” He asked and without me replying he magically made my skates disappear and they were replaced by my original winter boots. He began escorting me back to the house.

I looked back at the ice rink and Wolf’s voice came into my head somehow. “Look at the stars and chart them

Easier said than done I guess; suppose I would be up at night and had to make an excuse to Kieran if he came into my room tonight. This was going to be a hard task.

We arrive inside and Kieran took my coat while he placed his hand around my waist and led me to the kitchen.

His servants would make lunch soon but since he wanted to be a gentleman after I been out in the cold. He would make me something warm. I rolled my eyes at his statement. He wanted to make me warm and be sure that I got the best treatment. Least the treatment he thought served his purpose. That I would worship him.

The kitchen itself was nothing special the standard black and white shades with spacious room for multiple staff members. There were few tables by the windows where staff could break and rest.

Kieran placed me at one the tables near the windows and I looked out it while he started with the stove and got a pot of water and started boiling it.

He came back to me and sat the opposite end, of the table, studying me. All I did was look away. I was still in shock because of what Wolf said and how he even got to me. Kieran just stared at me, till the moment the pot started boiling and Kieran rose up tending it.

I couldn’t even looked at him, all I heard was the water pouring in the cup and his feet rustling against the cool tiles towards me. I heard a click from the mug as it hit the wooden table, I looked down at it.

How was I supposed to chart the stars if I couldn’t even get away from this man? All I knew was that I had to find some way, even meant pleasing him.

“So, are you going to be silent this entire time or you going to say something?” he asked.

I looked up from my mug and at Kieran who was staring at me intently.

“Will I be able to go to the library after this or no?” I asked politely. The only room that was off limits and I needed to permission to enter. For some odd reason I am not sure why.

He arched his eyebrow at me, then smiled.

“Yes, you may” he answered and took a sip from his mug while I actually smiled at him to that I was about to get up when he spoke again.

“But first you need to sit down and talk with me first.”

I lowered myself down on the seat and brought my burning gaze at him and he too gazed into my eyes awaiting.

“Okay… what do you want to talk about” I asked trying to be nice knowing this was my ticket out.

“Hmm” Kieran hummed and raised his eyebrows. “How was your skating?” His voice too smooth.

“Well, I guess it was nice, the wind was bit bitter but the otherwise nice for some fresh air. Am I allowed in the library now?” I asked, wanted to go there find information to know I was not going crazy. Kierans library I knew had the information.

“Hmm, same question again, well I guess I could let you go, or I can give you the answer you are searching for. I can just tell you the answer since I know most of the answers.” He replied being his usual cocky self.

“Well tell me this, is there such thing as a starry night through a lycanthropes eyes.” I asked.

It’s not that I doubt Wolf but I just wanted to see Kieran reaction when I asked him this thing. And to my surprise Kieran looked confused.

“A starry night through lycanthropes eyes, now that is just a myth.” He started, but I feel like he knew but didn’t want admit it. “Now where in bloody the hell did you think of that?” he inquired.

“Curiosity, but what are the myths?” I kept treading carefully knowing I was in rocky ground.

He looked at me curiously.

“Well, Lycans are interesting creatures aside from us Immortals, but with them they have or so it’s told a unique power. They see the night sky as guidelines to follow, where the packs that like to travel and not be stationary or where the enemy lays or where they must migrate. As apparently most clans do not stay in one place, some are travellers. As to there are Lycans born for different things” Kieran said.

“Interesting” I said intrigued, “Can Immortals ever see the sky like they do?”

Kieran cocked his head at me, “Why are you so interested in this stuff” his voice on edge.

“I am just curious.” I forced my breathing to be normal as I coudl faintly feel the heart hard pound.

“Well legend says that if you have some part of lycanthrope in you, you can see what they can see” Kieran said.

So, it is true, if I somehow channel baby to help then I would be able to get out of this hell hole.

“Okay well that’s sounds strange I think” I said trying to sound casual.

“Yes, indeed it is but I wouldn’t dwell on it, besides who would want a Lycan baby or be a lycanthrope” Kieran said in dreadful way.

“You only say that out of fear… Emily told me you are scared of them.”

He gave me a face that sent chills down my spine for even mentioning those words. I quickly smoothed things over. “Now that we have talked, am I able to leave now for the library or do I need to go to my room?” I arched a eyebrow to him.

Kieran cocked his head at me, then rolled his eyes and looked away and flicked his wrist at me.

“Fine I guess, go and put your nose in those books” he replied in annoyance.

I smiled, got up and ran to the door but Kieran voice stopped me for a second.

“By the way I am moving into your room tonight, I prefer to have you closer to me during the night” Kieran said darkly.

My heart dropped at that statement, I guess this mission was going to be harder than I thought it was.

~ * ~

I was in the library looking through books about lycanthropes and to my surprise I didn’t even think that Kieran would have books about them at all.

Considering his hatred for them. But I took my advantage as much as I could. One book in itself was about lycanthropes powers.

Every certain full moon, their powers are hyphenated but it has its limits. As well they have similar powers to immortals but like Kieran said some were born for different things, such as tracking, leading such as alpha or even seeing through Immortals powers. Their powers were beyond anything when comes to realization, they are just as powerful. Probably even powerful than any other creature.

After scanning through another book or two, I looked out the window saw that it was dark out. Dawning on me that my focus was on this single task as the light outside began to dim.

“This was insane.” I breathed and started putting the books away, I couldn’t believe how much I didn’t know or how much I really didn’t ask Wolf about. Though I did not find out anything about tracing with Lycan children. I guess I will just to need to try it.

As I was putting the books away, I noticed a strange book with scribbling that I didn’t recognize. I pulled it out, the book felt heavy and was made of leather. Taking it over to the couches near the light I opened it as it automatically went to the middle as if someone was trying to hide something as a ripped page stuck out. I took it and read it.

“The eight will destroy the darkness,

first shall be a new,

second shall be out of pureness,

third shall be a great warrior,

fourth shall be of wilderness,

fifth shall be of human origins,

sixth half of the seventh , seventh half of the sixth,

eighth shall be a leader”

What?”

Darkness will be destroyed by the number eight of something, that doesen’t make sense.

Sighing I didn’t dwell on it rather I just set the book down, got up and headed to my room. Or what I would be sharing with Kieran, that thought certainly disgusted me down to the bone.

Arriving at the room I opened it and looked like Kieran was already sound asleep in bed, so I go to work before he woke up.

I tiptoed with paper and a pen in my hand and walked over to the wall window.

This window was perfect for viewing the stars, it was nice not to be outside in cold just standing there. I sat down with just enough room in front of me so I could draw. I sat cross legged and took deep breath.

“Alright,” I whispered while feeling utterly stupid. “You have the power of a lycanthrope, so please show me these stars.” I requested slowly. I felt stupid talking to my stomach as if this thing could understand me. I looked at my faded reflection in the window seeing the faint outlines of my body. But my eyes started to glow mild green gold. I tilted my head in confusion.

Taking a moment, I looked up at the stars. And saw the starry night began to change, it wasn’t full of white shining diamonds but rather six golden twinkling stars.

I started drawing them, and when I looked up again this time they were connected by lines tracing some symbol. I drew quickly the lines, though I wasn’t quite sure on what the shape was or what it was trying to show but it was about the connecting stars, the lycanthropes stars.

After finally drawing all the stars and lines. I rolled up the scrolled, headed over to my closet, it would sound like I was getting ready for bed just enough Kieran woke up and asked what I was doing.

I put the scroll in one of my shoes and tip toed back into the room. I looked down at Kieran and sighed, I really did not want to join him in that bed nor did I want to sleep in the same room as him. I honestly could just take something and smash his head, but I am not sure what that would do considering there is special weapon to kill Immortals and I didn’t have it.

From that I took a pillow from the couch and put it near the window and looked up at the stars hoping that Wolf was looking at the same ones
