Chapter 19
Everyday, I would train with Wolf and Brock. It was tiring but same time rewarding as I knew we were reaching a goal.
We would start fighting each other and see what else he could learn about me. What moves I did use defend myself and seeing how I could fight off a strong force. I would at times surprise myself at the same action I did a day ago or few days ago became better telling me that I was improving. We were also surprised to how different things I would combine to fight that was not considered normal. Wolf who was observant began noticing that I would detect a few things away before they would come and have duel done in within seconds rather minutes. But Wolf explained that was sometimes a downfall as if I could foresee it, the action may be a trick. Then I would be on my butt or back letting the air escape out of my lungs causing distraction. That didn’t stop me I would get back up and we would start over again.
With Brock, teaching he was a bit unique. He would duel with me but give me pointers every so often, making it into a friendly fight. But he was still strong and was able to knock me down, but did graciously be helping me with pointers he gave. He almost reminded me of Dimitri. Though, Brock still had that coldness to him, but was kind. He reminded at times when fighting that he was here to teach something Kieran never know about true fighting.
Not letting evil take over.
I was just still used to things that Kieran who taught me in fighting, but some of the teaching was rubbing away from me.
Eventually I did start getting soft which help me at ease through when came to training. It also helped Wolf and Brock to convince the other warriors who had graduated to train with me.
That is where my fore-sighting came in but also a witness to what is around me. I had to remind myself at times how to use it properly and duel in a good way. From that I was able to defeat some of the good warriors because of it but others from their longer years of training were able to undermine what I could do. I had experience as well but not years of training, I had to remind myself that.
So everyday, I would come to academy with Wolf we would warm up together, I then move on to my solo training punching a bag, throwing knives or defending myself with mannequins. That was the part I was allowed to channel all my anger about Kieran at.
After that I would go on to fighting the other warriors as I had to quickly learn the moves. As with enemies you had to learn when to duck and when to find a opening to stab or punch the person.
But today was different, the other warriors were doing the basic training. This time only Wolf and Brock stood where I usually train with another warrior. I walked closer to them lifting my hands in confusion.
“So do I have the day off or we off to find Junior now?” I asked confused.
The boys looked at one another then back at me.
I soon noticed Wolf stood straight soldier like bringing his hands in front himself and closing them together.
“Nope, none of that today.” Wolf said but stayed silent which confused me even more.
“Ok… then what?”
This time Brock spoke. “Today you will be fighting Wolf, but… he will be transforming throughout the session as man and Lycan. You just need to figure out when to transfer your fighting skills when it comes to fighting a Lycan and man at the same time.” Brock said sternly.
“Why?” I asked, but felt stupid as I knew it was a dumb question in the first place. Making Wolf sigh.
“Because Asema, I had grown up with learning and hearing stories about battles between immortals and lycanthropes. They will use every tactic they can to win a fight it may be transitioning in man and wolf in split second just to catch you off guard…. my grandfather has done it multiple times till he had enough with the wars.” Wolf said. Then stood back a bit, turned around and walked to the middle the field where surprisingly there were no course that had men jumping.
Wolf turned around and looked me gesturing to meet him on the field. I clenched my teeth, took a couple breathes and went forward toward. I did not understand why I suddenly felt anxious, I done so much fighting before with other warriors and won. Though I guess the difference is it will be much different as I never fought a full grown Lycan. I ean I fought with Wolf before at Sky High, but to fight his Lycan form was something completely different.
Getting closer to Wolf my heartbeat started to race not sure why, but I knew that was a lie knowing this moment I had no idea what the results would be. Eventually my heartbeat must be blaring loud because of my nervous stage but I forced myself to forget about it because I didn’t need that right now.
I looked to Wolf and saw his face showed compassion but his lips and eyes showed he was ready to fight.
I quietly whispered. “I don’t want to hurt you”
That gave small smile on his face.
Brock broke our moment and I hated him for a second.
“Okay, Asema” He pointed at me. “And Wolf” bringing his other hand up and pointed at him.
“Here is how it’s going to go down…” He hesitantly waited for us. “No weapon, just hands and feet, only way one of you going to win is if… you flag and surrender” Brock gave us the instruction looking between Wolf and I as if he was worried about something might badly happen.
He shrugged it off as nothing, and back up a few steps and nodded his head. I got in my ready stance but apparently I was to slow as I was already knocked out of breath to the ground by a massive Lycan who was breath steady hot breath onto my face. I looked up to see furry mostly white and black specks face with a wet dark nose.
He did not growl or do anything just was on top of me. For a moment I was enhanced by his beauty and wondered how can some people be afraid of something like this. A quick thought crossed my mine… how can I defeat you and not be charmed by your beauty right now?
“Sorry” I quietly spoke.
Which made Wolf crock his head in confusion. I forced my legs up and jammed them into his stomach making him lurch up and suddenly in the air with blue and white mist around him. Landing hard on the ground as a man, his fist to the ground like he trying to set a rumple beneath the earth.
My heart was starting to pound like crazy but not for nervousness but amazement. Wolf came at me again this time I was ready to block a blow from him, though before impact he turned back into a Lycan which of caught me off guard. Pounding into me the ground again with his front paws. Luckily, I did not lose my breath but rather ground hit my back hard but I bounced back up onto my feet. Wolf was now in his human form trying to take me down with blows which I was successfully blocking away.
But he switched with the white and blue intwining fast and seconds later a furry animal emerged but swung on his front and whacking me in face with his hind legs. Knocked to the side on the ground again. Looking up again to see Wolf in the same stance his fist to the ground and crouched. Bringing his head up closely and looking me straight in the eyes.
“Asema, remember expect the unexpected” Wolf demanded of me.
Huffing at breath at him in frustration.
Expect the unexpected my ass.
I blew off the ground and run towards him in full throttle and stopping right at him which did surprise him and thrusted my leg up kicking him in the chest he went backwards.
“Expect the unexpected, my ass sweetheart” I said in frustration.
He landed hard on the ground letting me hear a thud and rolled onto front transforming into Lycan and shaking his fur around. Slowly bringing his glowing golden green eyes up to my eyes. He bolted towards me again but this time I expected him to change.
Quickly got in my stance and folded my hands together in a fist ready to pound into his chest when at last second he changed into a man, grabbed my folded hands twirled in the air with me in shock looking at him.
It was all so slow. His feet were facing the and sky and felt like he barely weighted anything. To a second slamming down the ground with twisting me around to hit my back to his chest.
What just happened?
