Unknown Darkness (2)

Chapter 13

Asema

For the first time waking up I didn’t feel threaten, achy or sense I was in danger. I felt safe. I opened up my eyes and was instantly rejected it as bright light slammed into my pupils. I blinked a bit to adjust and instantly scrunched my eyebrows together. I was staring at blue sky with a barely any clouds with shiny objects in the background with two silver rectangles that just flew by.

Where was I?

I was laying on my side facing a window, and rose my body in a half sitting position when I heard someone rustle against something. Instantly I pushed my back against the metal bed frame and snatched whatever was available which seemed to be some silver metal pan. I looked to see where the noise came from and saw Wolf slowly waking up from my clatter of noise. He was stationed in a corner right beside the window.

“Morning Asema” He said warmly rubbing his face.

I stared back at him and slowly smiling, guess my instinct defense are still automatic.

He reached out a hand towards me, though at first I resisted then realized he just wanted hold my hand. I let him touch my skin and instant familiar warmth come washing over me.

A second later I snuggled into his shirt wrapping my arms around him and almost crying as if it was a relief. He didn’t say anything, he just wrapped his arms around me while his hand rubbed my back.

I pulled away from hhim and got up and saw I was still in my combat clothing but I didn’t care. As I made my way over to the window and leaned on the sill. I heard Wolf behind me he seemed cautious in his movement.

I gazed at this machine place that was bestowed before me and saw it had a main theme of shining silver and glass, but closer look, a rustic of metal.

“Welcome to Pacific Rim” Wolf voice soft.

I turned around and stared at him, “This is where I was supposed to be transferred too” I softly said as reminder to myself.

“Mhmm, how are you feeling.”

I clenched my jaw, but breathed, “I don’t know,”

Wolf stayed silent, but then joined me in leaning into the window sill watching the city pass by of moving objects.

“More important question is, did you get him? And where is our son?” I demanded.

“Asema” Wolf breathed as if he was in pain “… I am so sorry, he got away, and took Junior with him…” Wolf continued quietly.

A tear dropped through me, I gripped onto the window sill for support it felt like he had won and I was still suffering. Wolf placed a hand on my shoulder.

“We will do everything we can to get him back.” Wolf assure me.

I stared at my hands, then perked up, “Did you find my necklace?” I urged.

Again, his face fell and he shook his head.

My face fell again, “then I guess I need to be extra careful with my powers” I clenched my jaw and returned to the bed and slumped onto the mattress.

“That may not be a concern right now, but we will see if we can create one for you that is hidden still.” A familiar female spoke from behind.

I twisted to see who it was as Wolf looked over my shoulder.

There, stood Madam Mentor and a familiar man beside her. I studied him for a second, trying to rake my brain where I have seen him before. Till a gasp caught between my lips and I realized it was the same man who somewhat kidnapped me. The warrior that Emily named ‘Brock.’

He must have realized I recognized him, and now hated being here. My curious thought what was he doing here?

Madam motion him to follow her and they made their way to my bed where Brock stayed a back a bit while Madam came to sit beside on the bed.

“How are you?” her voice soothing.

I swallowed, the honest question for a answer that I could not even process myself. Wolf already seen my slight episode so honestly I wasn’t even sure.

“I don’t know, I feel safe but same time I don’t know,” I somewhat confessed.

Madam smiles, “If you are okay, Brock will ask a few questions.”

My gaze slid over to him, and he gave a grim smile, but straight to business, “Do you know anywhere that Kieran may have gone? Or anything we should be aware of?”

I thought it over but at the moment nothing came to mind. I slowly shook my head, “I can’t think right now…” I confessed.

He sighed, nodded in understanding and turned away leaving with only Wolf and Madam with me.

Madam spoke, “I have also come to see your process and see how you are doing.”

“Again,” I repeated myself feeling a little annoyed, “I am not sure right now, still processing things as I feel safe somewhat but right now it by instinct that I feel I need to protect.”

“Well,” Madam places of hand over my mine and I slowly remove it as I don’t want to be touched by her even if she is my mother, but something about that didn’t feel right.

Madam doesn’t show she feels hurt by this action rather moves on. “Please rest, as I can assure as Wolf did, that Pacific Rim is safe place, no harm will come to you here” she slightly gazes out the window for a moment and slides her eyes back to me. The bright illuminates her silver eyes as I now just notice.

“As well Pacific Rim is untraceable, you will only know about it if brought here. It a city made for protection against outside forces as if also a secret island.”

I stare at her listening to every word she just said, “so Kieran won’t be able to find me here… and I just learned he not detained?”

She nods but gives a quick glare to Wolf who still by the window. I glance over and saw he was leaning against the window now arms crossed over her chest with a bright silhouette wrapped around his body. I gave him a reassuring look. His body soften.

“Wolf said that you are in the process of trying to find Junior, which means on finding Kieran, how is that going?” I urged, and panic was setting over me again.

“Asema,” Wolf voiced in, “We are already trying to trace him… it just difficult because Kieran blocked the tracing spell against us.

I slumped my shoulder and hung my head, “Is there any other way?” I whispered.

“We are finding other ways right now.” Wolf confessed.

I nodded to him that I understood. But my skin began to feel cold even though there was brightness in the room that gave warmth.

“Madam, may we have the room again?” Wolf requested.

Madam stared at him for a moment, then nodded. She rose from the mattress as it did not dip anymore and a moment later a door closed leaving Wolf and I in the room alone again.

I turned to him but stayed silent.

Wolf lifted himself from his lean on the window sill and crouch before me being barely eye contact level. He slightly looked up at me and I rose my eyes to his. Our moment of just staring into each other eyes almost like a silent mind communicating but there was only silence.

“I will do everything in my power and Madam will do everything in her power to find Junior and put Kieran into custody.” He did his best to assure me.

I still stayed silent, but swallowed a dry throat.

“I want to help, but I don’t even know how.” I whispered.

A smiled tugged at Wolf face and he nodded, “Of course you want to help and I will make sure of it, but right now you need to rest as your body is still healing and I will make sure someone brings new clothing for you” as his eyes look to what I am wearing.

I nodded in agreement, I needed to rip these clothes off and burn them.

“Are you okay if I leave you alone? Or do you want me to stay?” he offers.

“I need some time” I confessed, and Wolf nodded in contentment understanding my needs. He gave a quick peck to my forehead squeezed my hands and left the room. Leaving me to bask in the sunlight where warmth try to force its way through my body.

I stood and made my way over to the window again watching this unique city run below me. Studying it, I realized I felt I was staring into the future yet somehow remained in the past as some buildings were built like silver or made with glass yet there were bricks type of material that made it look European.

There was more to this city than just a glance I realized.

I brought my gaze up to the tall towers of silver shine from the sun and looked beyond them seeing a sparkling surface move. I cocked my head and realized it was water. A huge vast of water more like it. It wasn’t a lake. No, it was the Ocean. This was a island.

I breathed, when I had woken up, I felt some hope yet I felt my terror of instinct come automatic. Now I feel less hope and just cold.

Kieran was right, I would never rid him as he seemed to be a step ahead.
