Uncovering My Wife's Secrets (Annalise and Julian)

Chapter 32

Chapter 32 Benjamin Was Crushed Again

The bidding device kept ringing.

Seeing that the bidding price for the Tiger Roar painting had reached more than 4.5 million dollars, he fixated his gaze on the pinch of fur on the tiger's tail.

Perking up his ears, he heard Annalise whispering, "However, its beauty overshines its flaw. Although this pinch of fur is a little willful, it also shows the wildness of the tiger."

Madeline quirked her eyebrows and raised the corners of her lips. "My disciple is so considerate; even if she's nitpicking me, I still feel happy," she mused.

All of a sudden, Benjamin received a message from his grandfather: "Ben, you're at the auction, right? We're looking at the Aurora. If there's any painting by Ezra, bid it for me."

Hearing that, Benjamin looked at the painting and expressed his dismay. He felt that the pinch of fur on the tiger's tail was too casual.

Thus, he replied to his grandfather's message: "There's a painting by Ezra, but it's not really good."

In an instant, his grandfather sent a voice message, saying, "Nonsense. How could Ezra's painting be bad?" Benjamin immediately took a photo and sent it to his grandfather. Below the photo was a text that read: "Grandpa, look at the fur on the tail. It's too casual and seems a bit wild."

Nevertheless, his grandfather was overjoyed and replied: "Good! This is awesome! This is the best Ezra painting I've ever seen."

Thinking of Annalise's comment, Benjamin inexplicably felt that she had a point. He tried to reason with his grandfather: "But Grandpa, this pinch of hair is indeed a bit too willful and casual."

The old man laughed loudly in the voice message and commented: "Yes, this is the strong point of Ezra. It's exactly this casualness that highlights the wildness of this tiger even more. This is superb! When a master reached a certain level, they would completely abandon rules and regulations and stop being prim and proper. As a result, the things they painted would be even more natural."

Out of the blue, Benjamin thought of Annalise's comment just now. She said that the painting's beauty overshone its flaw, and the pinch of fur showed the wildness of the tiger. "Is she really an expert in painting?" he could not help but wonder.

Shortly afterward, his grandfather texted again: "No matter how much it costs, bid it for me."

Benjamin Immediately agreed and started bidding.

The auction price for the painting had reached more than 10 million dollars, and at this price, there were fewer bidders, and only four bidders were bidding. Benjamin bid 12 million dollars directly, and two more people gave up.

Only Benjamin and the president of Baker Group were bidding.

The president of Baker Group was famous for his love of painting.

Rumors had it that he was a coal miner before he became a nouveau riche. After making money from coal mining, he invested in real estate and then started to thrive in real estate. Someone once called him a nouveau riche, saying that he was uneducated even if he was rich.

He was stimulated and practiced calligraphy hard. Even though he was good at calligraphy now, painting was not his forte. No matter how much he practiced, he could not paint well. Even so, he still liked to buy paintings and calligraphy every time he attended auctions.

His office and study at home were full of expensive paintings and calligraphy, and indeed, no one dared to say he was uneducated anymore.

When Benjamin saw that Baker Group's president had bid 12.3 million dollars, he raised the price to 12.8 million dollars.

The moment Madeline saw that Benjamin had bid two times in a row, she grew increasingly excited and wondered what Julian would do.

Just as she was thinking about it, she noticed that Julian had indeed joined the bid and offered 15 million dollars.

"Wow!"

"Oh my god!"

"Holy shit!"

"He's so rich!"

"Who the hell is he?"

A commotion ensued among everyone in the hall.

When Benjamin saw Julian's bid, his expression instantly darkened.

He immediately bid 15.3 million dollars and sent a WhatsApp message to his grandfather: "Grandpa, the bidding is very intense now. We may not be able to get it. What is your highest bid?" His grandfather was determined to get the painting and replied: "75 million dollars!"

Benjamin immediately responded: "Okay, Grandpa!"

If he spent 75 million dollars on a painting, he could be considered one of the top ten in the whole country. He did not believe that Julian could spend tens of millions of dollars to buy the painting. Seeing Julian and Benjamin bidding, Madeline was very excited. A handsome man humiliating Benjamin would be even more satisfying than her giving Benjamin's face a slap in person.

As the price reached 27 million dollars, the president of Baker Group could not afford it and gave up regretfully.

Only Julian and Benjamin continued to bid.

Noticing that the price had soared to 27 million dollars and that Julian had no intention of stopping, Annalise whispered in a low voice, "Do you really like this painting?"

Madeline's paintings were indeed very famous, but normally, the price of a painting of that size was around 3 million dollars, and now the auction price was already 27 million dollars, which was already a sky- high price.

It was not that she felt Madeline's paintings did not deserve to be sold for 27 million dollars. She just hoped. that Julian really liked the painting and was not bidding it to crush Benjamin.

Otherwise, it would be related to her, and she really did not want to owe Julian another favor.

"Yes," Julian answered.

Annalise was relieved to hear that. If he really liked the painting, no matter how much he bid, it just meant that Madeline's work was worth that much value in his heart. Beep! Beep!

The bidding machine was still ringing.

The price increased from 27 million dollars to 45 million dollars in the blink of an eye.

"No, I can't stand it anymore! 45 million dollars! Poverty limits my imagination!" Someone pinched their temple exaggeratedly.

"Which prominent family is this man from? He's so rich."

Just then, Julian's phone rang again, and it was a WhatsApp message from Tony: "Julian, stop right now. No matter how rich our family is, you can't waste money this way!" Julian replied lazily: "Why should I save the money? So you can spend it on your mistress and illegitimate

child?"

Tony: "Julian, don't blame me if you don't stop."

Julian: "You've never cared about me anyway."

In the front row, Tony was so angry that his chest heaved violently. "Damn it! This rebellious brat!" he exclaimed inwardly.

Immediately, Alexander comforted him, "Dad, don't be angry. Don't get mad at Julian. Our family doesn't lack money. He can buy whatever he wants.

Abigail obediently sat next to Alexander and chimed in, "Mr. Parks, don't be angry. It's not worth getting mad

I guess Julian is trying to settle the score on behalf of Anna."

"What's the matter?" Tony frowned.

Alexander hurriedly nudged Abigail gently and reminded her not to say those things.

Nonetheless, Abigail ignored him and added fuel to the fire, "Mr. Parks, here's the thing. Anna and Benjamin have been dating for a year and are getting ready to get married. However, he cheated on Anna with Anna's best friend, Samantha Heard. Anna is still furious. Just now, she had already snatched the perfume away from Benjamin. Now, she probably wanted Julian to bid on the painting for her to vent hermanger."

She thought that the Parks family came from Jadeborough and would not know about the affair between her and Benjamin. After all, if they knew, they would not have allowed Alexander to propose to her with great fanfare.
