Uncovering My Wife's Secrets (Annalise and Julian)

Chapter 31

Chapter 31 Deadly Gentleness

In an effort to increase everyone's enthusiasm, every time an auction item was successfully bid on at that evening's charity gala, the staff would bring it to the bidder to pay by card while simultaneously handing the item to the bidder.

Because it was a charity gala, everyone who came did not pay any deposit. The organizer was also worried that some people might place impulsive bids and, in the end, could not afford to pay for them. Hence, every auction item would be sold one by one. After the deal was done, the result for the previous item would be displayed on the big screen before the auction for the next item started.

In that way, everyone could see at a glance who spent how much money on what auction item.

Humans had always been competitive. No one wanted to be overshadowed by others, even when doing. charity work.

It was precisely because of their humanity that the organizer designed such procedures.

Soon, two staff in gowns walked over to Julian, one holding a card machine and the other holding the bottle of perfume.

Both of them were very polite.

Julian swiped the card and took the perfume.

Everyone kept looking at that side. They just wanted to see if it was Julian who swiped the card or Annalise.

Seeing Julian's smooth and fluid motion, they felt that he was even more handsome and thought, "He must be the heir of a wealthy family!"

"Here!" Julian handed the perfume to Annalise

"No, this is what you bought," Annalise refused immediately.

Earlier, she only bid twice and stopped after that. When she saw that Julian continued to bid, she did not stop him because she was afraid that she had misunderstood. What if he wanted to buy it for himself? "I bought it for you, so you can give it to the important person in your life," the man said.

In an instant, Annalise's heart pounded violently. "Did he hear what I whispered to Ms. Tuffin just now?" she wondered.

"No need. We'll buy something else later," she replied.

After humiliating Benjamin in Moon Hall the other day, she felt completely pleased and delighted. Now, she was calm whenever she saw Benjamin. She was no longer sad, and she was not angry, nor did she want to embarrass him with money.

Therefore, seeing that Benjamin was bidding, she did not compete with him.

On the one hand, she was not interested in bidding with him, and on the other hand, she did not want to make a fool out of herself in front of others. It was not as if she still loved Benjamin and was unwilling to let him go.

While she was deep in thought, Julian took her hand and put the perfume in her palm.

The moment he held her hand, she felt her heart skip a beat. At the same time, she felt as if someone was tickling her heart with a feather. It was itchy and comfortable. Her cheeks and ears instantly blushed. She immediately returned the perfume. "I don't need it."

However, Julian clenched her hand and put the perfume in her palm. Then, he reached out his hand and drew a heart shape on her wrist.

Originally, she thought he was going to write something on her wrist. After all, Madeline was there, so there might be something he could not say out loud.

In the end, he only drew a heart shape on her wrist, causing her heart to suddenly beat faster.

"Good girl. Accept it," Julian whispered.

Consequently, Annalise's heart missed a beat. His gentleness was too deadly.

Julian was afraid that she would not accept the perfume and kept holding her hand.

The heat from his palm continued to spread all over her body.

She immediately jerked her hand back and found that the perfume was still in her hand, and Julian's eyes had already looked at the auction on the stage.

In the meantime, the surrounding people kept staring at them.

If she forcibly returned the perfume to him, the two of them would attract unwanted attention again. She did not want that to happen and did not want Madeline to suspect their relationship.

"Forget it. I'll offer this perfume to Ms. Tuffin. If I see any auction item that's suitable for Julian later, I'll buy it and give it to him as a gift to return the courtesy," she mused.

"Ms. Tuffin, this is for you." Moments later, Annalise gave the perfume to Madeline.

The latter stared at the former playfully. "This is for me?"

Because of Madeline's intense stare, Annalise blushed. "No, Ms. Tuffin. We're not..."

She immediately stuffed the perfume into Madeline's hand.

"Hey, I didn't say anything." Madeline smiled even more meaningfully.

Annalise was experienced in the ways of the world, but in terms of relationships, she was so innocent that she could not hide her true feelings at all.

Thus, Madeline stopped teasing her and pointed to the auction item. "This painting is not bad."

When Annalise saw her mentor change the subject, she immediately looked at the painting on the stage. It was an orchid drawing.

After taking a look at the painting, she said to Madeline, "The painting skill is good, but the ratio is slightly unsatisfactory, which leads to some distortion in the entire painting. This Caroline Dixon's work can be. regarded as a failure."

A daughter of a wealthy family, sitting next to Benjamin, heard what Annalise said and snorted. Without turning her head, she said in a sarcastic tone, "Now, even every Tom, Dick, and Harry dare to comment on the master's works so casually."

Annalise ignored her. Gazing at the painting on the stage, she continued to discuss with her mentor, but her voice was even lower, "Ms. Tuffin, do you think it will be better if we add two more leaves on the right side? Can this solve the ratio problem?"

Madeline quickly gave her a thumbs-up and remarked, "Brilliant!"

With a proud smile on her face, she pondered, "This disciple of mine is really a treasure."

Julian listened to Annalise's words and raised his beautiful eyebrows again.

She had good medical skills and agility and even started to do charity work when she was 13 years old. Not only that, but she was also proficient in painting and calligraphy. He really wanted to know how many skills. his wife had that he did not know about.

"Those who think she grew up in the countryside and is incompetent must be blind," he commented inwardly.

Soon, it was the third auction item. Coincidentally, it was another painting - Tiger Roar painting.

As soon as the painting appeared, the bidding device seemed to be out of control, ringing non-stop.

It was because the painting was by a famous painter, Ezra.

"Give it some comments," Madeline said.

"Then, I shall say what's on my mind truthfully." Hearing that, Annalise began to comment, "The highlight of this Tiger Roar painting is the magnificent atmosphere. When the painter painted it, she paid the mos attention to the tiger's aura. The whole painting gives a mighty and powerful vibe. No matter if it was the brush stroke, composition, momentum, or metaphor, it could be said that it was impeccable. If you really want me to nitpick it, the pinch of fur on the tail is not drawn carefully enough."

Instantaneously, Madeline burst out in laughter. "Haha!"

Actually, when she was painting the tiger tail, her best friend invited her to play poker, so she quickly finished the painting.

Listening to Annalise's comment, Benjamin stared at the fur on the tiger's tail intensely.

When he heard her comment on Caroline's work earlier, he felt that she was a bit too self-righteous, but he also recalled that when they were dating, she had always been modest and would never talk nonsense.

Now that he looked at the fur on the tiger's tail carefully, it seemed that what she said was true. Suddenly, he had an idea in his heart. "Could it be that she really knew how to draw?" he wondered.
