Chapter 14 Persuading Henry To Divorce

Noah looked at me, taken aback. We had never shared a greeting or a meal before, only fleeting glances.

However, the matter at hand concerned his friend’s marriage. He understood the importance of the bond between Patterson and Xanders. After pondering for a moment, he agreed, “Alright, let’s do it tonight. I’m free.”

“Excellent! I know a charming cafe that serves excellent coffee in a quiet and inviting atmosphere. It’s perfect for a chat. Shall I send you the location via WhatsApp?‘

I eagerly took out my phone, opened the QR code for adding contacts, and placed it in front of Noah.

Noah quickly scanned the QR code and handed me a pen, saying, “No need, just write the address

here.”

Ihat kind of man is he? A caveman?

Jotted down the address of the Dawn Quixote Cafe, giving him a look that was hard to describe.

“I’ll meet you at the cafe at eight thirty tonight”

I put down the pen, smiled, and left in high spirits.

Noah would meet Violet there at eight o’clock, not me.

The thought of this kept me in a good mood all day. Thad been looking forward to Noah and Violet’s first encounter for quite some time. I decided to go incognito to witness this momentous event.

Henry and Noah were close friends, and they even had feelings for the same woman. I wondered if Violet was Noah’s first love or if his affection for her had grown over time. I would be disappointed if it wasn’t love at first sight.

I donned a wig and loose black clothing. Then, I arrived at the cafe alone around eight o’clock.

I peered through the French window without entering the cafe. As expected, Noah was already seated. in the corner. Wasn’t that my favorite spot?

His hair was unkempt, and he wore a simple white t–shirt, making him look much younger. Noah’s demeanor was cool and detached. He didn’t glance at his phone as he sat there, leisurely savoring his

coffee.

Violet, where are you? I scanned the counter, searching for her.

I looked for Violet for a while, but couldn’t find her. However, my sneaky actions caught Noah’s attention. When he saw me, he got up and walked out I thought about running away but decided against it.

“Ramona, are you blind?” Noah greeted me with a smirk.

“As a doctor, shouldn’t you be more courteous?” I retorted, confused, and removed the wig. Honestly, it

was making me hot.

“You wanted to talk to me, but you didn’t enter the cafe, and you were wearing a wig. What’s going on?” Noah asked, furrowing his brow.

I confidently replied, “I’m here, aren’t I? I just wanted to check if you had arrived.”

Noah decided to cut to the chase. He opened the door and ordered, “Get in.”

I hesitantly walked in, wig in hand. As I passed the counter, there was no sign of Violet. I asked another waitress. “Where’s Violet?”

The waitress replied. “She’s off today!”

I was visibly disappointed. My hopes had evaporated. I sat down with Noah, dejected, ordered an Americano out of habit, and drank in silence.

“Aren’t you going to talk to me about you and Henry? Noah asked, glaring at me.

“I don’t feel like discussing it right now,” I shrugged and said, ‘Here’s the deal. It’s my treat today, you

1 go home and rest.

As soon as I finished speaking, I felt a cold stare from Noah. His gaze was as intense as Henry’s.

“Are you playing games with me?” He asked coldly.

I quickly replied, “No, not at all. It just occurred to me that there’s nothing to discuss. You know I’ve had an unrequited crush on him for years, right? He doesn’t like me. He didn’t like me then, he doesn’t like me now, and he’ll like me even less in the future. What else is there to talk about? If you really want to help me, you could persuade him to divorce me.

Noah stared at me intently, as if trying to gauge the truthfulness of my words.

I pretended to sip my coffee, but his gaze made me uncomfortable.

“The union of your families is more complex than an ordinary marriage. You should know this without me having to say it,” Noah finally said. “You can’t get a divorce unless something significant happens. Henry won’t agree to it.”

I sighed, “You know him well. That’s exactly what he said. It seems like you two think alike.”

Noah remained silent and took a sip of his coffee.

I didn’t feel like talking to him anymore. Violet wasn’t there. A supporting character like me didn’t need. to share so many scenes with the protagonist.

After three minutes of silent coffee drinking. I stood up to pay.

Noah also stood up. He gallantly stopped me and said “Let me.”

“Alright,” I accepted gladly. This money meant nothing to Noah.

the cafe in my rearview mirror. Noah was watching my car as I drove away.

I sighed and shook my head. Noah was always one step behind Henry. I had tried to help him twice and failed both times.

Henry and Violet’s bond must have been unbreakable, I felt it was pointless to try to pair Violet with Noah again.

Just sit back and relax. Everything will be over in ten days, right? I can wail.

The following week, as expected. Henry was nowhere to be found. We returned to our usual routine of not communicating or seeing each other.

I had time to myself and was content. I picked up Harper from the hospital and took him and Violet out for dinner. Then, I focused on improving my skills, which I had been neglecting for a long time.

With Amber’s cooking and my three daily doses of traditional medicine, I actually gained some weight.

At a gathering. Lilly asked, pinching my cheek, ‘Mona, have you been drinking elixir recently? You look great, and your skin is glowing!”

“I’ve been taking traditional medicine to nourish my body and eating more. It seems to be helping me gain weight,” I replied cheerfully.

“Show off!” Elly grumbled, “While everyone else is trying to lose weight, there you are, taking traditional medicine to gain weight.”

“You’ve gained some happy weight too, Elly,” Sammy teased, slapping her plump butt. “You should be happy with that!”

Elly’s boyfriend took great care of her, and he was an excellent cook.

Elly tossed her head proudly and said, “Are you jealous? Ah, I guess having a boyfriend who can cook has its perks!”

The good thing was that her boyfriend was a decent, handsome, and gentle man, so the Townsends didn’t object even though his family wasn’t as wealthy as theirs.

“If there’s a suitable commercial performance coming up, Elly, please take me along with you

It suddenly occurred to me that staying at home was too boring, and I should pursue my own career.
