Traveller Probo

Chapter 110. England

BBC News

Today a statement was received from Traveller Michael Hunter who has been living in 11th Century Saxon Aengland.

But, it seems, all is not well.

This statement from Michael Hunter has just been released. The footage has been confirmed to be authentic and was released by Historical Research International’s British office at Michael Hunter’s request.

Greetings! This is a sworn statement by me, Sergeant Michael Hunter, formerly of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment.

As you know, I have lived in Saxon Aengland for over three years. My wife is Tatae and my daughter, my sweet baby daughter, is Genovefa.

I hereby retire and extract myself and my family from the Traveller research programme.

I do so because the historical research programme is no longer under civilian control but has been hijacked by corporate and military interests that are not in the interests of the people of Giolgrave, my home.

A combined British, United States, Canadian and Australian military taskforce plans to establish training bases in the Saxon forest to train troops with advanced skills that, they feel, are best taught by the hunters of Saxon Aengland.

This constant contact of modern troops with the villagers of Giolgrave will be harmful to the villagers’ culture, their health, and most of all, to their happiness.

Of greater significance is that the military alliance plans to use the forests of Saxon Aengland, near Giolgrave, to test secret military systems and weapons. Away from the prying eyes of modern experts, black budgets have developed new and terrifying weapons to be tested on animals and humans in a way that the 21st Century would never permit.

The leaders and people of Giolgrave do not wish to participate in these secret programmes and object to their forests and home being used in such a manner.

These plans fly in the face of the purpose and spirit of the Traveller missions for peaceful research of people who live one thousand years in your past.

I am therefore compelled to stand up for the people of Giolgrave when no others will. My fellow Saxon Travellers and I fought for them, killed for them, and bled for them. Now, I will continue to fight for the people of Giolgrave. These people are my people now.

The decision to use these villages, and this precious research, as a military training and testing ground is morally and ethically repugnant and will only take place in the shadows, if you, the good people of home, don’t know. Because I’m integral to the success of these illegal missions, to protect the people of Giolgrave, I must leave them.

This means I must, and will, leave you.

You have shared my successes and my failures. You have taken the villagers of Giolgrave into your hearts.

Please, don’t let evil, manipulative powers use Giolgrave as a military training and test site.

Please let the people of Giolgrave live their lives.

So, with my wife Tatae, and my daughter Genovefa, I bid you farewell.

The Department of Defence has made no comment and the Minister, Maureen Paddington, has been unavailable for comment.

We’ll keep you updated on further developments.
