Chapter 154
Letta began to blink her eyes, trying to focus her vision, but instead, she felt a pounding sensation in her head, causing her to try to sit up and hold her head, wincing in pain.
"What's happening to me?" Letta muttered, still trying to look around. There was a very bright light in the middle of the room. Letta could also feel the cold temperature searing her skin. Finally, her vision became clear, and Letta widened her eyes. Letta didn't recognize the very dark room.
"Where am I?" Letta asked, trying to recall the last time she was conscious. Letta vividly remembered enjoying the waterfall with Marco, and afterward, Marco instructed someone to take her away. And that's when Letta widened her eyes upon realizing she was in danger. Letta knew that the guards were not Marco's guards. Letta tried to get off the very hard bed, then walked to knock on the iron door, which seemed to be a confinement room.
"Please open up! Get me out of here!" Letta yelled, continuously pounding on the door, making her voice echo outside, until she could see a gap in the door.
"You're awake, it seems. Wait in there calmly. You will be freed soon," the heavy voice said, making Letta attempt to reply, when the person closed the gap, leaving Letta to let out a rough sigh. Letta didn't know how long they had been imprisoning her. When Letta kept screaming and was completely ignored there, Letta only saw a glass of water and an apple.
"Are they preparing it for me?" Letta asked again. Letta did feel thirsty and slightly hungry, but Letta didn't dare to eat any of the food there. Letta was afraid they might poison her, so Letta chose to hold back. Until finally, after Letta got bored waiting, suddenly the door opened, prompting Letta to get up from her seat.
"Where are you taking me?" Letta asked again, as she saw a guard now in front of her.
"You can come with us to meet the Master," the guard said.
"The Master," Letta said again, shaking her head.
"I don't want to go anywhere until you explain. What exactly have you done to me? Don't you know who I am? You've disturbed someone who will be angry if they find out I'm not in a safe condition," Letta said, only to be met with their thin smiles.
"That's why we also have to deal with someone who will be angry with us. So it's better for you to come with us if you want to know everything, rather than stay silent in this small, dark room," the guard said, persuading Letta. Letta also didn't want to continue to be confined without clarity in this unknown place, slowly following their steps, there was a long corridor that felt completely dark. Even the pungent smell was occasionally caught by Letta. Not to mention, in the corner of the corridor, several rats were seen, which they ignored.
"Are you really keeping me confined in a room like this? I'm not an animal," Letta said, but was ignored by them, until their steps finally stopped when they arrived at a fairly large iron door. They then opened it, leaving Letta silent. For some reason, her heart started to beat even faster, as the person motioned for Letta to go first.
"What will you do if I go in there?" Letta asked, making the guard glance at Letta briefly.
"You will meet someone who will make you feel somewhat relieved, yes, that's my estimation," he said again, making Letta feel like she could only clench her hands, feeling her fingers starting to sweat, and after a while, Letta could feel someone groaning in pain.
"Who's there? Are you also imprisoning people like me?" Letta asked.
"You can see for yourself once you enter," the person said again, making Letta finally dare to step inside the door. Letta was once again faced with a corridor and quite tight security. Letta didn't know how many doors were in the room. But one thing was for sure, the room had no ventilation or sunlight. Was the place they occupied an underground room, Letta thought, until one of the guards from the lined-up individuals opened the door in front of her again, and that's when Letta could see someone being whipped under the light. Letta immediately widened her eyes upon recognizing the silhouette of that person. Letta didn't hesitate any longer. She was about to run when some guards stopped her. "Marco!" Letta exclaimed, making Marco, who was bound not far in front of her, immediately look up at Letta, who was now widening her eyes in shock at the sight of her husband, who had already received several wounds on his body under the beam of light. Marco was only wearing the pants he had on before. He was bare-chested with wounds on his body.
"Who are you? What have you done to my husband?" Letta asked again, shouting.
"Letta, calm down. I'm okay," Marco said, trying to calm Letta, who shook her head. Letta couldn't hold back her tears anymore upon seeing Marco's bloodied condition.
"What do you mean by 'I'm okay'? Look at the blood flowing from your body!" Letta said, her voice trembling, making Marco clench his fists. He couldn't do anything as his hands were tied, but seeing Letta in a relatively unharmed condition at least gave Marco some relief.
"So, you feel perfectly fine in front of your wife?" someone said, audible to Letta, but she still couldn't see the person.
"Who are you? Are you the one who ordered these people to kidnap me and Marco?" Letta asked again, making the person laugh.
"Yes, let's just say that. I just wanted to give you a little show, as you might be bored in the small room earlier. I even kindly provided food and drink for you, but you didn't touch it at all. Are you afraid that I might poison you and your baby?" his words made Letta fall silent. Letta then looked back at Marco.
"What's happening? I'm really..." Letta said, making Marco shake his head.
"Calm down, everything will be fine," Marco said, still trying to stay calm with the calmest voice possible, which only seemed to make the person whose face Letta had not yet seen angrier.
"It seems the wounds I inflicted still don't feel like much to you, Mr. Jovanka," he said again, until Letta could hear footsteps echoing throughout the room, and that's when Letta could see a middle-aged man with a stout figure. Marco felt like he had seen that man before, and Marco could see the hatred in his eyes as he stared at the man.
"It seems you look even more beautiful up close. No wonder the man didn't let me touch you or get close to you," the man said, making Marco look angry, a sentiment that Letta could easily guess.
"Who are you?" Letta asked, making the man laugh.
"Take a seat in that chair," the man said, making Letta start to struggle from the grip of the guards who had been holding her.
"Don't you dare hurt my husband, you bastard!" Marco shouted, getting no response at all, until Letta sat in the chair not far from Marco.
"Now, watch with your own eyes how I torture your husband. Wouldn't that be more satisfying?" the man said, making Letta shake her head. "No, please, don't do that," Letta said, making the man display his devilish smile as Letta begged him.
